SNES created some pretty visuals but really can't handle that much on screan animation. The system had massive slow down on shooters or anything where there is a lot of movement. A game like SOR2 would be impossable on the SNES due to all the characters. Look at Final Fight for the SNES. One player and nowhere near as many on screan enemies.
I don't want to be sound rude, but you kinda suck mate. Unless there's some kind of input lag on the SNES version, I grew up with the Mega Drive version and it is quite responsive, although graphically it suffers. Fun game, a bit on the difficult side (not too much though), I think it's as difficult as it should be, pushing you to play even more and there's no reason not to, you've got unlimited continues !
the level you prefer to run through can be easily aced, when these things fly around just press jump and hold lightning shot while you are in mid air, he should be able to cast 2 of those, OR you can control your orb like this: hold the orb button and shoot button and then press forward, the orb will zig-zag up and down in about four-five feet and return the same way, it helps to clear things out of the way ^^
The orb is actually awesome when you learn how to use it, its the best against some monster, and I know because I finished this game, took me a while, but I beat it, the ending is not so bad, which there was more to it, but the game is challenging, lots of tough bosses. Just give it your best and have fun.
4/10? Personally I used to play it a lot when I was a kid, the difficulty is really touchy but that's the main reason of being cool. The main weapon is the puppy ball man, specially for the last levels. Graphics were damn fine if compared to the other games nintendo developed that time. I would give it a 7/10.
the graphics were awesome compared to a lot of games that were considered great, for example Castlevania, the megadrive version has actually better color even if less detailed stuff
MY friend went to america and brought me back a surprise game about 3 weeks ago, and it was Warlock. Yeah thats right Warlock had returned to me after over a decade. I still have a 32X So I went to the 3rd to last level were I last left off and finished it for good!. Really hard but so much fun. The last 3 levels are some of the best. Thought I'd tell you my tale. Now 16bit satan is no more and my demons have been put to rest, heh heh. A Glitchy but brilliant game! One of the greats
i always thought the graphic detail on the coat was amazing, just like the game, orbs were annoying as hell same with the grabbing root things, but i love the gargoyles you fight in the cemetery place. Great Game, i would of rated it at least 7/10
Well, you say often you cant do anything, no pattern, can only shoot in 1 Angle, unfair parts... but i never had problems here. You can roll on the ground, jump to avoid hits. You got the orb, so indirectly you can shoot more than in 1 Angle. You just have to be fast, and first of all you got to get used to your character and its moves..
If you dont have the intention to play it, youll play like this, and then youll be pissed about the "unfair parts". Good old times :D
Man i loved the game on the genesis. I dunno why you say the genesis versions graphics were poor.. maybe i cant remember it very well, but it looks almost the same. The SNES versions sound sucks. Its not that "dark" like in the genesis version. Am i playing Mario or Warlock? About the sound- quality i cant remember anymore. Blood Censored in the SNES version- no comment to this one...
Snes fanboys should really stop bashing the Genisis, The genisis did it's part well it sure kicked the nes's ass and was still in the fight when snes was out there.
Comparing the Genesis with the NES, that's what I'm talking about!! The SNES was way ahead in terms of graphics, sound, gameplay, even the damn number of buttons on the joypad!! There can be no comparison between the Mega Drive and the SNES, the first was for crappy sports games and that idiotic Sonic character, where the SNES were for real gamers.
SNES lacks the the control of the Genesis as well. Much slower running games.

I think what most people fail to realize is that this game is based off "Warlock: The Armageddon" which was movie released in 1993.

We love the genesis as with all the other retro systems.
It's just some games did not translate well, some were bad on the SNES and some on the genesis.
necroexmortis 3 years ago
@Engirish101
Saying that Genesis kick ass of the Nes is like saying that a 16 years old can kick ass of a 8 years old, WELL YEAH IT CAN!
The games that was on both system had a better translation on the Snes, but Genesis do have really good games on his own.
I love this era.

Orb is very useful
Lighting bolts can only be shot in certain directions, orb goes different ways.
I loved this game, was a challenge tho. Best part is when you can turn into a dragon and fight :D
