  • Its a bummer he died so young, But at least Fr Ted has become a legend, And before He died Dermot was finally reaping the rewards of a lifetime in comedy.

  • R.i.p :( bye dermot

  • :( he died too soon

  • father ted could not have been any funnier but i still feel a bit of sadness watching it knowing that Dermot was taken so suddenly.

  • r.i.p

  • So sad, unbelievable. What a loss for EVERYBODY. So young.

  • hi well he never made in ireland did he but he did in the uk so bless him rest him amen

  • Died too young..."I don't believe it!"(Taken from the episode when they go to the caves, lol)! Dermot would've wanted us to have a bit of a laugh!

  • RIP Dermot ;(

  • I would place Dermot Morgan right up there with Dave Allan as Ireland's best comedian.

  • apparently the father ted idea was pitched to rte but in their infinate wisdom turned it down and ended up buying the rights to play years later from channel 4

  • Nice one Bob Collins, you must take some of the credit for his success by not sentencing him to a life in RTE.

  • @shanekeane200123456 Haughey was an innovative bastard.

  • He was an innovative talent ~ CJ Haughey

  • legend stand up many people only seem to think of father ted but dermots talent was at his best when on stage a master of the craft rip dermot you done ireland so proud and we will forever laugh and always smile on the drop of your name

  • I always thought of Dermot as sorta of a father figure-not in the priest father way but dad like :D

  • Sad news

  • RIP Dermot Morgan :-(

  • Hard to watch a gangster like Bertie pay false tribute to a great man like Dermot Morgan, PJ Mara didn't sound convincing either.

  • only 45. thought he was older. pity bertie didnt fucking drop dead instead. no fair.

  • :( RIP

  • Terrible, terrible loss for comedy, and his family x

  • rip dermot <3

  • mcreevy, ahern and haughy all mentioned here. Gangsters.

    Dermot died too young

  • F**king rte only started showing father ted after it became popular on ch4,this was the last good irish sitcom.

    rip dermot

  • @mokbass RTE had never been offered it originally anyway though.

  • @maleunicorn

Really?I had heard they were,my mistake.

  • @mokbass

Agree with the first part of your post but you should check out Paths to Freedom, a brilliant Irish Sitcom from the early 00's.

  • @hemanrugger

    Thanks,i'll check that out :)

  • @mokbass graham linehan has stated that he never brought the show to rte because they wouldnt have had the ability financially or the prior experience in sitcom that the British channels had. Its an untruth that RTE passed on it.

  • @fergaldavey

    I stand corrected,my mistake.

  • @mokbass There's another good Irish sitcom Mrs Brown's Boys but can't beat Father Ted

  • @PINKKYLIELOUISE

Yeah ive seen it not a big fan though.

  • yeah CJH had Scrap Saturday removed from RTE -

  • is it just me or did dermot look like the perfect hobbit for the lord of the rings playing the midget in the brown coat? lol

  • What a man, R.I.P Dermot

  • I was only 2 at the time he died and i don't remember it . But he was an absoloute legend

  • Only brilliant.....

  • Father Ted thats what he was known as all his acting career and that is what he will stay as. In our hearts, 12 years on :(

  • soooo handsome and funny

  • another thing that is so sad is that those outside ireland only got to see him as fr ted . those of us that are irish got to hear his sharpe satircal mind on RTE radio scrap saturday , his tv apperances and his live stand up. he was a really funny guy .

  • Thank you so much for posting this up. Wonderful to see and to remember him by. Love the Father Ted series, one of the best. Alli, Perth, Australia.

  • thanx for uploading this tribute. father ted is still one of the best comedies ever.

  • What a tragedy. Taken from us too soon, hard to belive its 12 years on, R.I.P Dermot. Ireland's best comedian haven't seen anybody as good since
