@lygophile yes, I filmed this with my old video camera with a zoom lens. The humpbacks often come up close to shore. Sometimes they cruise parallel to the beach. Causes quite a stir among the sunbathers!

i've always heard this one particular whale sound that they use in movies. i remember they used it as the sound lugia makes in pokemon 2000. is that a real sound, or did they just create it artificially?

These are real humpback whales. But because these squeaks grunts and whistles are underwater and not produced by humans, they do sound unreal!
