So far from all these comments, i havent read one good explanation of this riddle.
There's 2 questions that need to be answered. 1. We start of with 12 guys/12 legs. Q where does the extra pair of legs come from? A. guy at the top of the 2nd last column (from start position, left to right) Q. where does the extra face come from? A guy at the bottom of 2nd column (from starting position, left to right). There's the extra pair of legs & there's the extra face. Solved!
It's all about the little guy in the bottom left hand corner, who has such a small amount taken from him, you don't notice that nothing is then added to him. I shall name him Kaiser Soze: he was there all along! (also, to all the people who, rather than figure it out, assume this is a 'trick', and then mock everyone for it: your idiocy is hilarious!)

My solution: So there's a big group and a small group, right? Well, when they got switched around, i noticed at the left one guy stayed the same o-o. And this is the part where i put TheFirgg in my conclusion. lol ^-^
at first, every thing in the top half is connected to part of the bottom half. When the sides are switched, 11 are connected, and two aren't. Men #'s 1 and 10 from the original picture. You don't notice because all that's missing is the top of the head from 1, and the bottom of the feet from 10.
I think I can kinda explain it. In the 12 guys picture, in the left row, the front guy get's a haircut and looses mass. His hair get's added to another guy who looses his eyes for it wich get added to another guy who looses his mouth for it and so on. So in the 13 guys picture you have 12 people who are missing some part of their body and one added guy.
To simple check it, you just have to switch through both pictures instantly and you will see that the guys get smaller.
@TheFirgg Dude, the simple answer is he added either black or white color in the picture because as you can see when the picture only had 12 people there were 7 black shorts and 3 black shirts. But in the last picture which were 13 people it changed to 8 black shorts and 3 black shirts. Now no matter how many times he switchs the pictures he can not create a color out of nothing, which means he added some color to it. HAHA IT WAS TOUGH BUT FUN
@TheNextAnstine in the picture with 12 guys, in the second row from left the hind guy. He wears long "shorts" wich get cut in half. That's where there is "another" shorts added.
The problem here is that you can clearly see that nothing got added, because we can see the picture moving and we can follow the "steps" of changing it.
If you look at the rows from top to bottom and start at the left side on the picture there will be two guys right? If you count the rows
There are five rows ( again from top to bottom) if you look at the fourth row there are two guys, look at the top of that row, there is a guy with a black shirt watch his feet when the picture moves back and forth!!! He is the added guy!!!
All I can gather from this so far is that both sides have people that are split in two then rejoined by the other side EXCEPT the 2nd guy on top from the right doesn't split at all, making him the extra man.

if u are observant enough u can see that the original drawing is with 13 ppl...at the first pick 1 guy has half his legs :) so its not a riddle its just a nice drawing :)
It's easy.They are in a specific location and pattern.When you switch around the pattern:2-3 to 3-2 the number changed thus creating one extra person. I'm 13 by the way.

Easy, 7 pieces moved from the right side and 5 from the left, however, the bottom left guy never became completed again, and neither did the second person in the top row, therefore we gain one extra. 7+5+1=13
there are more guys on one side to begin with and when they split 2 different halves meet tomake a 13 person. hard to explain by typing but watch closely and you'll get what i mean

This is bizarre and neat. The starting position is 12 whole bodies. The finishing position is technically 11 whole bodies, + 2 partials. It's just that the 2 partials each end up looking like wholes. From the starting position, the guy on the lower left loses the top of his head and never gets it replaced. The top guy in the second column from the right leaves the bottom of his feet behind, but on the transfer he ends up looking like a whole person.

Let me explain:
1. There are 12 men
2. As the picture changes, only 1 guy doesn't get his body changed
3. When the picture finishes changing, every man that got changed had been filled in, showing that there's 13 men.

This is bizarre and neat. The starting position is 12 whole bodies. The finishing position is technically 11 whole bodies, + 2 partials. It's just that the 2 partials each end up looking like wholes. From the starting position, the guy on the lower left loses the top of his head and never gets it replaced. The top guy in the second column from the right leaves the bottom of his feet behind, but on the transfer he ends up looking like a whole person.
