I got my first car/truck last year it is a 1998 Ford F150 XLT Manual, 188,000 Miles on it I drove off a steep hill/cliff with it and hit a culvert, slammed into some dirt ditches, only got stuck a couple times, nearly flipped in it multiple times, Still Runs Great and exterior/interior is thankfully in Excellent Condition

@yournamehere832  depends on how your going to drive it. you can get a good 24+miles off of it if you got a stick shift and you drive very conservativly. if you drive hard then dont expect to save gas. i can burn 10dollers of fuel in 10minuets just by driving real hard

Mike, my 1989 F150 had that same whirring, I'm not sure if you as well have the M5R2 trans, but mine was the Throwout bearing.........if it starts vibrating on the highway, start looking to get some work done man.

@KingOfTheClutch thank you for that heads up. yeah when it's like under 40 degrees in the morning, and i go to start it up, it makes some squeaks, like it's a squeaking pulley. but no vibration known to me. the only vibration i get is when i start out in 1st gear with not enough gas, one of the heat shields i think are vibrating... it kinda drives me a bit crazy

@Mustangmike232 well then mike, it sounds like you got an incredible deal, I drive a 1995 F150 Eddie Bauer now, sold the 89 in August just to buy this one. I'll be doing a 5-spd swap in it this coming summer.

Your truck looks damn good in the video, I think with some time, some money and your determination, you've got a long term runner there bud.

@BaltimoreAndOhioRR thanks, yeah there was not really much to do on this truck. just did brakes and lower ball joints. it needs bigger tires, maybe a lift spacer with a new suspension, cherry bomb muffler, NGK plugs. then will be in business.

Very Decent truck man! That truck is identical to mine! Mines a 1997 model though. mine has 176K on it. Has a rebuilt 4.2 in it. My tranny is still good, But its got some gritty noise. You have excellent throttle response. I bet mine needs something cleaned. Probly the throttle body cleaned. I need to rebuild the rear end in mine. Shes howling pretty bad. And Ironically when I get my truck, it also had 168K lol

@fordwillkillyou thank you, yeah i cleaned the throttle out so now i got a quick response. wow 176k! thats 6k over me! well good for you to keep that truck running. i got to replace upper and lower intake gaskets because im leaking coolant. still truck runs really good and its fast

@Mustangmike232 Cool, On Aug. 30th, I bought a 2001 Ford F150 XLT (in mint condition), 4.6L V8, 4x4, 5 Speed Manual, Supercab and Flareside box, with a hard Fiberglass cover over the box. It has 170k on it. I paid $7000.00 canadian for it. I love the ride and feel of drving it. It is far superior than other trucks. I want to make a video of it soon. It goes like a bat out of hell!

u can buy a cheap tach in any auto store 95% chance the tach wire is in the engine compartment. i have a 5 spd ford too that i've modded a bit and i wanted a tach you don't realize how much faster you can go knowing ur RPM's then not knowing. they all run strong

that whine in the tranny is either the cluster gear or something near the front of the transmission. ie a bearing. i have a tranny thats very similar to the in your f150 in my ranger. the previous dipshit owner ran her low on transmission fluid.

@Hemispeed18 it actually does. the 1998 series V6 came with 210HP @ 255ft ibs torque peeking at 3000rpm and full 210hp @ 4750rpm.. 4195cc displacment3.81X3.74 is the bore/stroke its got a compression of 9.3 its injection type is SEFI... that's some of the facts on my engine. but yes it does have 255ft-ibs of torque no lie. and hey j4tr i am a Dodge fan...

aw yea i got a 98 f-150 the other day which was originally from texas too, i don't know why yours doesn't have a tach mine does and i cant figure out why some do and some don't especialy since this ones stick, u think they'd at least put it in those
