BEWARE! THIS is NOTHING MORE than a tool for unelected ecclesiastical Vatican oppression. Through abstinence ONLY, it helps to psychologically recruit and condition more and more people into unconditional obedience. Whenever they say that we belong to "God" it REALLY means the Vatican wants run us like slaves and are infantilizing and emasculating us in order to forcibly rule us under the imagined threat of damnation. Instead: Abstinence plus for teens but only until they’re independent adults.
As a lifelong Catholic, the Church authority and its lackeys are no better than the subculture forces they are fighting against. No outside force should ever have the authority to restrict or force any part of our nature into imaginary moral absolutes (Church) or stereotypical subculture forces nor issue any judgement/pontification/coercion because we are people, not binary code...
1. It would seem to me that simply obeying human desire is the best way to making ourselves into machines, because desire is not something that people choose to have. The best way of expressing our humanness is to have virtue.
2. It seems a very tenuous claim to say that our nature ought never be forced to conform to a standard. Could you expound on why, morally, this is true, especially if there is no absolute moral standard to appeal to?
Whoever chooses to be more/less mature and wish to be more/less: 'chaste', heterosexual, free, monogamous, clothed, gender stereotypical should be free to be who they want to be. Sexuality is one of the best of several key parts of human nature. All people should be free discover/develop themselves in that way freely. The only limit to this freedom is should be the preservation of another person's freedom and the presence of a person's ability to consent...
1. Freedom is a means, not a goal. People are free to do lots of things, but the set of things that are allowed by freedom and the set of things that will actually lead to joy, happiness, and the presence of heaven are a far smaller set.
2. Why ought we care about the freedom of others, in a world devoid of moral absolutes? By what standard does consent matter? In the real world, this freedom, by which you mean autonomy, constantly requires violating the autonomy of others.
Any kind of exploitation of another person against his or her wishes/will/consent or of one who is too immature to give consent in the first place is a violation of his or her human right to freedom of choice for herself and therefore is inherently WRONG. Human rights, not arbitrary oligarchy whims, are the guiding light for true freedom… BOTH sides are trying to scare and bully all its folowers into being unenlightened, stripping us of our individuality in the name of influence and power…
1. From whence comes this "right" to freedom of choice? By what standard do we have this right? More importantly, how can one translate the idea of a right, which is a concept reserved for the world of the socio-political and therefore an idea rooted in systems based on power, supposed to be at all valid in philosophy, where we deal not in systems of power but of love and virtue?
Control behaviour, especially raw nature, and control the person. Both sides wish for us to be obedient children or dumb sheep, with the only difference being that the Church has the audacity to openly and proudly embed this as their mission.should be that simple. Being sheep is the greatest villian to the spirit and freedom, which must be retained at all costs. Do good, but love God, not the Church.
It seems to me that Christ is all about making the greatest violations of this "freedom", which is not really freedom but autonomy. God seeks to re-make our entire nature from the inside. He is not at all about us being secure in ourselves. Controlling "nature", by which you really mean desire, which can be perverted in unnatural ways, is what God is all about. I look upon what I want and see that it will not bring me what is good for me, and so deny my nature to gain virtue.
I just saw Jason at my church 30 mins ago and i thought her was so funny!!! like that one part hes like "when six graders flirt they shove there friends into the guys they like" i actually did that like 2 months ago.
I just heard Jason talk at my high school...It was the most amazing talk I have ever heard. I wouldn't even call it a talk,it was just an inspiring experience. He is hilarious and has re-enforced my will to stay pure until I'm married.

GFMarshallx1, it appears that you do not realize that you are attempting to be precisely that 'outside force' you are railing against. ;-)

A few thoughts for you:
