  • In Alabama there is no frost line so concrete around the post is no problem. Not a bad video but definitely could use more details. I don't understand the need for 3 boards on the header. I would think that's a local code issue. However, notching posts is something I insist on. It works great, gives a sturdy support system and makes having to make the posts perfectly square with the house unnecessary. I've seen plenty of screwed up decks built by DIY's and gud o' boys with a pick up truck.

  • Excellent instructions. I had to watch them a couple of times to take notes but when I was done I understood what I needed to do for my situation (which is not exactly the same as the one shown in the video).

The video combined with the information from my local Winnipeg building code was excellent.

  • I like lowe's "deck building batter"

  • They missed a very important step - Installing the Ledger board. Prior has posts and footings – this installing beams on already installed Ledger board... When I was in HomeDepot and asked for suggestions - was sent to the 'contractors' desk - they did suggest some tips but nothing helpful. About to start this project using ledger suggestions from Google searches - sad Home Depot could not help. Sadder still that Home Depot does not sell precut stringers longer than 3 or 4 steps - I need 9.

  • Fucking lost. All this video did is tell me I need to hire someone for the job. Home Depot probably did that on purpose. You really don't have to go to far to find a better video than this.

  • Something I don't get... Isn't it NOT suggested to put the post IN the concrete? I was looking at other vids (lowes in particulas) and read comments that doing it this was will rot the treated wood faster, something about the chemicals in the cement eating up the treated wood. And its suggested to let the concrete set and then put the post on it and fill the gap with gravel. So what is it??? IN or ON the concrete????

  • What kind a framing nailer is that you´re using?

  • AHH man fun is bout to begin!!

  • Goatee makes him look like a fool

  • @banacek8675 I don't think that's a goatee.. if you know what i'm saying.

  • THIS CLOWN COULD NOT KISS MY ASS...WHEN IT COMES TO BUILDING DECKS...

DECK & DOCKS BY Zolar Craft owned by Michael Fazio

    ~!~

Was the best Deck Builder on earth aka Howard Beach Queens NY & to this day no one has ever come close and they remind me of a bunch of monkeys running around with power tools...

  • @HoodwinkedbyanAngel Well aren't you mr high and mighty. We might just be country bumpkins outside of Queens, but we still manage to lift a hammer.

  • @HoodwinkedbyanAngel I'd like to nail a joist through your fucking head you deck building american homo

  • Too fast and does not explain details. Check Lowes deck videos, it's way better

  • this video is to sell tools or directing you to the rental dept. there are much more to consider and plan before you build a patio. dont shop till you know what you need or at least all the measurements are done.

  • How should I fix my deck? Watch My Money Pit, parts 1-3.

  • I finally got a platform but its not high enough to the sliders on my mobile home......anyone want 10 grand worth of synthetic boards and some railings will sell for 9 if ya pick this shit up!

  • man this video is wack! its got me all flustered i bought 10 grand worth of synthetic shit.......what are these 50 wt ball bearings for? anyone? i got about 2,000 screws but i left in in the rain and the bag is full of rusty water. I also need to know what this string thing is with the powder inside,i pulled it out and damn near choked myself with it. I started to put this shit together and my hand is tired from all the screws, i aint got 4 boards up and i got carple tunnel already, jeeezus!

  • I hope those are Treated Timber or Cedar and hopefully the nails in the Hitachi Framing gun are Galvanised nails

  • Also I see the guy is using the wrong fastener to mount that joist hanger to the ledger!! That is supposed to be a 3'' (10d) common type nail. Not a 1.5'' simpson fastener. This video is a joke!!

  • I like your style. You also really don't need 3 different drills and half the shit they say you need. It's basically over kill.

  • Before giving advice on building a deck, how about a lesson on the materials. Like how that joist hanger must be a Z-max type, which is ACQ certified (of which also Home Depot doesn't sell!!!). Instead of a standard hanger that would fail in less then a year causing serious injury or even death!

  • NEVER listen to any of those shmucks in Home Depot. If I received a nickel for every time I heard an HD employee give a homeowner bad advice, I'd be a rich man!!

  • sucky
