The process building and renewing of a democratic republic has been arduos since the beginning. The vile insults, betrayals, and accusatons heaped on all the founding fathers are legendary. Washington despised the endless feeding at the trough of legislative discord. He was an extraordinary man who knew great deprevation and suffering as well as privlege and wealth. Durring the debate to include a bill of rights in the first draft of the constitution Patrick Henry would draw crowds of thousands
Nader doesn't take into account the rest of the world. The USA is not #1 in the world any more and our future in this country is going to be affected as much by the rest of the world as by ourselves. People in the Third world countries will eventually have power and this will change many parameters. We need to quit gazing at our own navels and join the World community.
I like Ralph; his activism has done much of value for America. But asking the wealthy to pony up money and contribute to some form of greater democracy is naive. Billionaires are billionaires because they are competitive with one another, and they have too much invested in capitalism to give it away to the people. We need a revolution. A real one. Appealing to those who have perpetuated and benefited from the system is ridiculous.
ObamaBush should be a lesson that the vision is more important than the man presenting it. I don't give a shit if Nader was too stubborn in 2000, this is still an inspiring vision.
it's hard to imagine people greedy enough to hoard billions of dollars a year contributing monies to break down the system that deprives people of both political and economic democracy and creates systems of wealth and poverty and the necessary domestic and international abuse necessary to support them. i'd be surprised if any of these billionaires responded to ralph's call. they've already had time to deliberate. but, i'd love to be surprised.
@tonybeir like that matters bush rigged the vote there were almost riots, LOL, you know that guy who built the machines had a mysterious plane crash by now i hope
Mike McCormick, the guy who made this video, is the real hero here. Google Talking Stick TV in quote marks. Mike's Web site could pretty much become your only media source. It is mine! He's the one who goes out there to bring videos such as this -- always in one convenient file. Watch the videos (>500) in his Web site, and you will be put in touch with all the most amazing people, primary sources, all with boots on the ground. Learn. Then put that knowledge to action.
Some of this is right, bu if you follow the logic of making the super-rich pay some tax or something it ALWAYS spreads down to the middle class. Remember that income tax was also supposed to only affect the top 1% of earners, and now look what happens once the genie is out of the bottle
It's pretty typical for members of the baby boomers and previous generations to view technology as a corrosive influence, that is a mistake, you won't get anywhere with the youth by attacking technology, you have to adopt their tools to reach them, just like Obama did in the 2008 election. This generation of "kids looking at screens" can be leveraged via social networks for direct political action, don't alienate the next generation of political activists by attacking their medium.
@serialize2 if they don't know history, and most of them don't, the new medium will be just as manipulated as the old one- oh wait, it pretty much already is. The new generation of endless information leads, it seems to me, to a shortage of knowledge and understanding. In which case, all the info is essentially useless.
people seriously need to sit up and take notice of what this man has to say, politics is under heavy pressure from corporations and people are lazy and apathetic, which leads to tyranny... invest a little time in petitions/protests/spreading information and calling your senators/politicians people, dont let your country turn into a corporate owned state! its already gone too far!
I admit I haven't read the book, even though I know it has some great ideas in it. I just can't get excited about Ralph writing fiction. Is it really necessary? Can't he just give it to us straight?
OBAMABUSH there is no difference when the corporations are the ones with the power... learn to boycott, petition, protest and contact your local politicians/senators in order to sway politics! only the people can change things but it means getting up off your fat asses! and watching independent news reports etc... :) if only the UK had someone like ron paul!
While I don't agree with everything he says, I do agree with this comments on corporations having too much control. He is right when he says this is not a democratic society. "We are misled, underled & lied to." "We the people" did change to "We the corporation" it seems over the years. We spend more time voting for American Idol than we do for issues that matter and leaders who will make a difference. We individual citizens don't have the civic pride to stand up for what we believe in now.
Mr. Nader is an interesting person... but I never really trust him, basically he supports the concept of rule by force, he just wants HIS crowd to have the force.
Press is dead. It is OWNED by the super Rich. Get back to honest gold and silver
money in your purse, and audit the FED and then kill it, Arrest E. Rothschild, until
he surrenders the gold he stole from us. Support RON PAUL.

Thanks, Ralph. I am a Canadian, and I think that you were the only presidential candidate of any worth in the U.S. You would make a great president.

Nader will never attain office, which is a damn crying shame.
