Well, so much for your stats. If I would have listened to you, I would have lost a 50 doller bet. Stats are nothing more than an indicator, basied on individual and team performance. Theirs is more to sports than just stats, other variables must be taken into account before determining the outcome of a game or match.
First of all it's not Mark Ryan, it's Matt Ryan, you lost all crediblilty when you couldn't get his name right. And second a bend don't break defense includes giving up alot of yards, but not alot of points. This is achieved by forcing other teams into Field Goal situations. You say that 38% 3rd Down Converstion is a big deal. The only problem with that statement is that they don't stop teams on critical 3rd down situations. That is a huge weakness considering Arizona has a number of playmakers.
To stat guys, a player is not a person, but just a random number generator with a specific curve. There are only a handful of teams I can name more than 1 player, but I *can* describe all the teams' characteristics in terms of likely distributions. This is all I care about - I bet on sports for a living, but I am not a fan of sports.
"Critical 3d down situations" - how do you quantify this? What is your test for a critical one, and how do they do in this situation?
