here is why i think they did it. Jeter gets on base alot and damon is a homerun hitter most of the time so say damon is up first and hits a homerun there is 1 point. But if jeter hits first and gets on base then damon hits a homerun there is 2 run instead of 1 run so idk it might work out

well i mean damon doesnt have amazing power by any means so that might work out 4 times the entire season and jeter is more of a clutch performer and since damon has a 300 avg, jeter will get him home with a double or single a lot more than damon will ever get jeter home with a homerun
