  • U sometimes chat with deaf and blind? When u encounter deaf-blind what mode of communication is most popular with them? What is most popular with staff? My best friend is going deaf-blind (hereditary). Already in his 70s. In a decade or two will probably be in a nursing home. I want to prepare him, while there is ample time, to communicate effectively with staff and visitors. This is why I ask. We are working on the ASL ABCs right now.

Not asking for research, just experience.

    :-)

  • Florida School for the Deaf and Blind is a public boarding school for students up to the 12th grade. I have never communicated with a deaf-blind student, but I know that some do attend the school. It's wonderful that you have thought to help your friend before he will be in a tough situation! I'm hoping I can be of some assistance to someone one day with the skills I am learning now.
