  • THAT´S AWFUL MELODY!!! KIND OF EVIL WASTED

  • lol she looks like a nut? because shes not a pale white skinned european in a suit? if your that xenophobic to where you cant even respect other cultures attire/fashion,hopefully you'll be even more displeased knowing the harp originated in kemet (egypt) in africa,by "black" people...

  • Um, she is perhaps literally the worst harpist ever. She looks like a nut.

  • Don`t rate her much.

  • Around 5.06 she is filled with Transcendental joy!

  • AJUSTA EL AUDIO, AWEONAO!!, TE LE QUEDÓ DESFASAO'

  • I had the pleasure of meeting this great lady at a bookstore in Manhattan. She autographed and gave me a copy of her book which I will always trreasure. I see why she and John chose each other. Long live the Coltrane spirit! krxn11

  • I am speachless. This just completely magnificent!

  • Listen to me in "Ollin: La Bruja", . I love kotos, pascola, irish, zithers, anything with open strings/vibrations. Gliss heaven. I am grateful that i was turned on to Alice!!!

  • as a harp player myself, i know there is some connection between all us harp/string players. open vibrations. Ive liked to believe i coined the term "hip-harp", and mexican/punk-son; listen to me at:

  • R.I.P. Dear Alice Coltrane. Your blessings are recieved

  • @dpb119 hahaha NICE

  • The way she plays....I feel like I'm getting a massage, very soothing.

  • When I hear this, I think, "Come rest your weary soul while I play this harp and put you to sleep."

  • A blessing. Music and spirit. Passion and transedence. Thanks for sharing this epiphany.

  • This was a special treat. I wished l'd really been able to meet & study with her. Alice is the greatest!

  • goosebumps.......

  • This made me cry.

  • "no description available" Too right! :)

  • @daraghkinch MAN I LOVE THIS COMMENT HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @sintwtchr might be a bit of a misnomer to say she was self taught since she was already a trained pianist and the harp and piano are so closely related

  • @flatwormfarm...I believe she's self-taught. I don't recall the exact line of how she wound up choosing the harp, but if I recall, her husband had one made for her. It was likely at his instigation. She's (was) and amazing pianist, and according to Terry Gibbs at one time also picked up on the vibraphone super-fast as well when she was in his group (they apparently performed duets on the vibes while on tour).

  • Magnificent

  • thanks for upload this video. Amazing.

  • just lovely

  • This is a most amazing feat. The harp that Alice Coltrane is playing had clearly seen better days. If you look at the soundboard it looked like the wood was buckling. The harp column has dents and dings in it. She had to bring that harp to life. This concert took place during the time Poland was struggling to be liberated from Russian and it was very hard to get a good playing instrument.

Her mastery of the harp and her ability to transcend the instrument is wonderful.

  • I wonder how she learned to play harp? I can only assume this style of playing is all her own.. I've never heard or seen anything like this. Is she the only one?

  • Simply sublime. For a better understanding of Alice Coltrane and her music, search out the new biography, "Monument Eternal: The Music of Alice Coltrane" by Franya J. Berkman. A very insightful examination of Alice's spiritual journey and her music.

  • Unbelievable!

  • incredible to see someone so in tune with their instrument, the music just flows through...beautiful

  • wow. absolutely mindblowing! thx for upload.

  • total genius

  • now this is new thanks for uploading this.

  • I keeping fading in and out through different places around the globe.

  • This just threw me into another world and then beyond.
