I use those exact techniques in my kids club, it can really try your patience when they sit on the floor right next to the stool, or move the stool while they're still sitting on it, but eventually...let me refrase that EVENTUALLY... they get it. what's funny is then if another kid does the same thing they did wrong and i didn't see it they'll rat on that kid in a heartbeat! lol

it happened when we were kids.a stranger would tell us something we did was wrong and we would behave.but as soon as the stranger dissappeared we would keep it going (some times)

the kids don't know what the stranger is capable of,they're just afraid of her so they obey

That's very true. Ultimately it's up to the parents to keep up the new routine... it's sometimes very hard to do honestly, and I could sympathize with it, but it's the parents fault if their behavior get's worse again. They were told how to control their kids, it's a matter of keeping with it long enough for the kids to learn that this is how things are.

these things don't happen overnight...

That's my say on this, but I"m not a parent, so I can't be too sure.

But we actually used the technique when our daughter turned two (2 minutes in the naughty corner lol). But I find it amazing how parents don't grasp the concept by just simply watching the show. HELLOOOOOO!!!

That is a big thing that Supernanny teaches. Put the focus on yourself also. No child is made to be abused. The naughty chair works. Open handed slaps to children is abuse. There is so much evidence that slapping children seriously hurts their psychological abilities for stress, self-esteem and so much more. But keep slapping just because you are entitled to your opinion. You should be ashamed.

Andra isn't as bad as alot of the children I've seen on supernanny. She stays on the naughty chair fairly quietly and stops behaving badly and apologises quickly.

I've seen some kids refuse to sit there and it drags on for an hour and a half.

She just needed to have boundaries set and for her mum to tell her what's accpetable and what's not. she seemed to understand and listen as soon as she did receive discipline.

youd be surprised. my lil girl is almost 4 and she used to throw big tantrums like this lil one.But because i made her sit in a chair everytime she acted like this, she no longer has frequent outbursts like these. every once in a while the warning doesnt work, and i have to give her a time out, but not regularly. she listens to me now cause she knows i mean business! i remember 8 months ago when she would have to take up to 10 time outs in a day! i thought it would never work. but it did!
