i'm wondering what could beat those tanks + goliaths... and i think if zerglings were used instead of hydras during that big battle it could have led to a different outcome.
@clvinning i'd really like to see you counter with hive tech at the 6 minute mark.
How is this push in the 6th minute? It's more like ~15 minute. Even I can get defilers out in the 10th minute or max out with lings and hydras by the 15th minute, without sacrificing any economy.
When playing zerg vs mech, patience is of utmost importance. You just can't attack that terran push and get killed, you need to wait for the perfect opportunity.
I was amazed by how effective the mech build was. Jaedong owned 3/4 of the map, and then the mecha ball moved out and it didn't seem to matter in the slightest.
There has to be a good counter to this, right? Why hasn't Jaedong moved to it?
-_- jaedong was a bit cocky trying to win with majority if his force as zerg air. heck, with 4 gas that he had he cud've pumped out not even 10 ultras and good amount of ligns and use dark swarm to force flash back and while he's moving out he can send those mutas to do massive dmg but. o wellz
seriously I agree with IronDynamite, dark swarm+lings easily would have won. But then again the only reason why terran went mass tank/gol was because he was only using hydras and mutas the perfect counter. Not enough unit variety from zerg. He probably had more resources than terran too just made the wrong units.
Did you somehow miss the guardians and the hydralisks? Maybe dark swarm + lings would have tore them apart, but tank's splash can still kill a lot of lings. We'll probably see the next time they face off on Katrina. Personally, I wouldn't be too surprised to see a lot of plagues against all that terran metal.
the only game that was this interesting of a zvt wit mech was savior vs boxer (boxer wins)
i think that if jaedong would have gone mass ling and muta like savior did vs boxer but with all those bases gg for jaedong he wins but no he went hydra and flash played perfectly :D
heh, i guess jaedong saw his strategy didnt work last time, so he decided to try the same thing again! although i guess this time he did focus much more on air than before (and yeah that grouping of mutalisks looked scary =p)
Zero micro mass zerg air suicide. Going for the base race/trade might have been better but he could easily have used his units better. He parked his air over mass gols, WTF?!
It shouldnt be that hard for these pros, and the tanks should be hitting the hydras...
Actually i think swarm with more upgraded hydras instead of so many mutas would have been much much better. Also the gols are hard to maneuver so it would not be too easy to run away from the swarm.
talking about NOT doing anything with the early scouting information. There is a reason why Terrans usually dont go metal vs zerg. Zerglings, defilers and ultras would have done teh trick.
I'm quite suprised, I thought he is unstopable, but this time he seemed to refuse to adopt (he had many crystals - enough to build crystal-cheap units and support air with flood of them). That reminds me of old saying "there's always a bigger fish"
omg, when will zerg learn to go ultra/ling + swarm against emch terran?when did this strategy ever work?like 1 in 10 times perhaps,if he had gotten ultralisks instead those guardians + swarm...........
The power of the terran mech push is a serious force to be reckoned with. As zerg, I have to say it is extremely hard to stop. Valiant effort at it by jaedong, but his micro seemed to let him down in the One Big Encounter. After that, Flash just rolled him.
You're doing some great work for the SC community!
Awesome game, and the result was quite unexpected after seeing those masses of units the loser had just before the winner switched the game into his favor.
wow so flash knocked jaedong out of the osl. And while I was watching this right till before the first battle I was still wondering how a mech build was supposed to replace M+Ms. lol.
I thought Jaedong played very well and his build could of worked if he engaged Flash in a manner that protected his guardians a bit more. His macro was great, but his battle micro was poor imo. And as for Flash, well what can you say other than he has played excellent starcraft lately. Both of these sets were a ton of fun to watch, and we get to see it all again in the GSI tomorrow night!
Mole trap, thank you thank you tahnk you for doing this commentary. English commentary is being sorely missed in teh starleagues! hope things are going well, awesome commentary as lways!
I am happy for the winner. What a great rivalry between those two. What will happen at the GomTV invitational when these two face off one more time???
After part 1, I thought that Flash has absolutly no chance! :)

in standard zerg vs. terran, defilers usually aren't present until about 7-8 minutes in.
but, you're probably one of those kids who thinks he's good because you use oblivion multi-hack

u can't take out that many upgraded gols with mutas... lol
its cause gols have really far range, 12 i think
and so the gols at the back give dmg without being hit themselves
aerokpc 3 years ago
nah
it works in the way that if they have higher range
more of the gollies can attack at any point in time, hence resulting in a higher rate of attack
anyway the golly range is 8

I agree tho, Jae's build was quite a mistake, with that huge econ he could have gone mass hydra + swarm or just plague the crap out of those gols...
Also, the head to head attack was suicide, he might have won if he went for the counter and attacked the terran undefended main, imo.
