  • this is definately one of those songs u just listen to all day on repeat.

  • Great song-put it on my wake up cds that i pass out-

  • Why all the talk of racism on this thread? This is white and black together, the best part of the song is the sample they used from the great BB King. It fits so well with their parts of the song.

  • Though I'm not a huge fan of the rest of this album, I love this song.

  • This is a great song; that is, until the white guys start singing.

  • @onefour314 racism is an ugly monster.

  • @onefour314 lol shut the fuck up

  • this song makes remember old sad days . and when i was in high school very diferent days from now . the second era of good songs 90 but the first was the 80

  • @Intuder1980 Couldn't agree more.

  • love the "parent advisory" sticker.

  • I've been downhearted ever since Nobama the Empty Suit stole the election

  • Sadly the rest of the songs in "Rocket" were not nearly half as awesome..

  • i have loved this song for so long. the lousy radio programs never tell the songs name. i stopped trying to find who sang many songs. thats why the other guy took 14 years to learn who sings it. it didnt take me as long though. i wish i could write down words like this guy

  • This is actually a Chanukah song. If you listen carefully, BB king is saying "No Christmas for David."

  • @OptiPrimeCA No, he's actually saying "ever since the day we met."

  • What genre or style of music is this? The vibe of this shit got me Zoned out smokin this Brolic ass blunt...i like dis shit

  • This is real music.......the Lyrics, the beat; everything about it.......@triniblackheart u see what im sayin!

  • One of the best 90s songs Great BB King sample They dont make songs like this anymore reminds me of Bitter Sweet Symphony for same strange reason

The same haunting atmospheric melancholy blues

  • @InfinityNebula i get what ur saying 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' is another song i love

  • This was a college song for me. 1996. Great song, no clue what it's about though lol

  • 6 people are standing outside a broken phone booth getting the living shit kicked out of them.

  • Thank god for google - i was young when i use to hear this - i love sampled music

  • im glad i found the name of this song

  • Love this song but can anyone tell me, that voice that's in the beginning is that Martin Luther King Jr., ya know like from one of his speeches or somethin?

  • @RocketCrazy117 From a B.B. King song "How Blue Can You Get"

  • @RocketCrazy117 It's BB King sampled from 'How blue can you get".

  • @RocketCrazy117 - that's BB King

  • Chills...

  • you want to know what it feels like to the chills? Listen to this song...

  • I-RAILS!

  • Beautiful. It's old, but you know what, I still hunted it down to listen again.

  • "I've been downhearted...I've been downhearted baby...Ever since the day we met"

  • Amazing song. Its been 6 years sense ive heard this song. It came back on the radio last night. So happy right now.

  • The only reason I remember this song is because of that crazy singing sample in between verses. I dont even know what it says but when I was younger I thought it was a native american chanting. lol

  • @SCRulerShinoda That said, I just discovered what it says

  • @SCRulerShinoda "I've been downhearted, baby, I've been down-I've been downhearted, baby, ever since the day we met..."

  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song.

  • @HollieBelleAK Me Too! Its Shocking How Little Views It Has!! It Should Be Getting Millions!!! Its Freakin Amazing!!

  • Lol I mainly remembered the title of this song because of some tasteless remark the comedy host of one of those doctor-paired-with-a-comedian sex & love advice shows made to an allegedly suicidal caller (whose story didn't seem to add up) about "standing outside a broken phonebooth with a shotgun in my hands".

  • This song personifies the 90's to a tee. I have very fond memories of my wife and boys during that period!!!!

  • .....this is the modern day "walk on the wild side" by Lou Reed....listen to them side by side ......cool song! (the B.B. King sample is the thing that makes the song!!)

  • What happened at 3:10?

  • What the fuck? How could I have never heard this beautiful music before? Thanks.

  • How can 6 people dislike this? This one of the great tracks of all time. Sit outside on a sunny evening, roll up a fat fundy and just chill.

  • I hear this a lot at my job (since I currently work at CVS).

  • Got a hicup at 3:10 damn, finding a good version of this song has been a search..

  • @JeremiahDB Have you found a solid version? I am having a tough time as well.

  • Just heard this on the radio today for the first time, great song... will definitely be repeated frequently throughout the next week :)

  • Actually I first heard of this song in the Howard Stern show when it was coming back from commercial break and there were playing this song in the background.

  • i been down hearted babe

  • This is bad ass. So effing true. This song needs some dope electro dubstep remix work. This is so under rated. LOVE THIS GROUP AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME

  • may this beat play on forever.

  • WOW. I just did the same thing. haha The only thing I could remember was it having the longest song name that year.

  • i heard this song on the radio in 1997, heard it once, and it never caught the name of the band... just found it now, after 14 years.

  • @slipbik I understand the feeling

  • @slipbik The best moments in life are finding small treasures like these from our past. I'm searching right now for a song that I've heard only a handful of times an never caught the name and can't really identify the lyrics well enough either.

  • @slipbik im happy for you

  • @inlovewithoblivian thankyou :D

  • @slipbik LOL same here pretty much

  • @slipbik it took me almost ten years to find this song...i heard it when i was 10 on the radio also...still a very good song and glad i found it:)

  • @slipbik love when that happens

  • @slipbik thank god for apps like soundhound! saved me years of searching :D

  • I've been searching for the name of this song for the past 45 minutes. I FINALLY found it, SO worth it.

  • i've literally just listened to this song 20 times in a row...and i'm soooo far from being done for the day.

  • this is favriot song of all time

  • CHILL

  • i listened to this a hundred times driving to florida,at night it made the drive go well

  • You swim like lions through the crest

And bathe yourself in zebra flesh.. <3

  • Good stuff, but it would've been nice of whoever played the piano solo to play in the same key as the rest of the song, lol

  • @DominoLexington to me its like your saying you know more about music then everyone else. then you write a hit. please we need good tunes today. mr superior musician please do it.

  • @Roberthenryii

Woah, calm down. :D I was making a joke. See the "lol" I typed? I actually LIKE the solo. At times, dissonance is cool sounding. It's creative. And why is it so bad if I know more about music than someone else? I don't understand why people are so confrontational here...

  • @DominoLexington meet me at the flag pole jk lol hehehe

  • How come all the good shit is from the 90's ?

  • ya'll niggaz mad

  • This should be the anthem since I got remarried to a clown. Ive been downhearted ever since the day we met!

  • wow 3 dislikes whats with people being losers

Thanks for uploading. Thumbs up for that alone.

  • finally found it. Searched "bathe yourself in Zebra Flesh" and there it was lol

  • The song makes me nostalgic

  • Haven't heard this since the 8th grade! Thanks for uploading! :)

  • CABLEguy!

  • I am playing this song for my blind roommate! :P

  • The Cable Guy

  • It's been a while ;-)

I heard it a long time ago.....

  • Love this tune. I had forgotten about it until I heard it this morning on the radio.

  • man...this was so before cell phones. The good old days. Less distractions and we got more done. Yes. I must be a dinosaur.

  • @tracystubetv there were cellular phones in the '80s. Where were you at?

  • I could listen to this song on repeat for hours on end, and be in heaven. Thought invoking track

  • @nightsquadsucks 2 people who has been down-hearted lol

  • @nightsquadsucks

Shot in the face Jk jk but for real

  • thumbs up if youve heard a song recently that somehow you thought youve never heard but then you have this sense in the back of your head that brings you back to old memories!!!!!

  • Thank science for the internet!! I have not heard this song for 12 years and every so often I want to hear it. But because I have not heard it for so long, I forgot like 90% of the lyrics (and mistook 40% of what I thought I did remember). Thankfully with the Internet and Google, I was able to find the origins of this song and now I am listening to it on Youtube. Isn't technology great?!!

  • I was young when this song made it to the charts. Iwas born May '96 and this made it to the charts in September '96. I never knew this song until a few months ago over the internet. I love this song! :-)

  • Two people are awake but half asleep :P

  • for the one person who dislikes this video obviously has no taste in music

  • @OrionCinemas you got that right!

  • we swim like lions thru the crest

and bathe ourselves in zebra flesh

  • Profound music with BB.KING singing background.

  • My plane takes off from Baltimore and touches down on Bourbon Street. Think about it.

  • idk, this song reminds me of lou reed's "take a walk on the wild side" does anyone else think so?

  • @LARUCUS

Definitely -- they both have a repetitive 1-4 (tonic to subdominant) progression and both songs are in the key of C, just to make it more similar. Furthermore, they are have really similar vocal melodies, tempo, and a downplayed chorus.

I still like this song quite a lot, though.

  • I have a strange imagination but I see myself coasting down a desolate high with hunter s thompson, a cool buzz and open roads for miles.

  • Ma Teresa joined the mob and happy with her full time job

  • You swim like lions through the crest... And bathe yourself in zebra flesh. Man, who DOESN'T feel like that sometimes?

  • @sicklesickle I'm totally in a Zebra-flesh-bathing mode.

  • This, to me, is the song of the 90's. Even if i didn't know the words, I loved it regardless. Now I'm loving it even more.

  • Long live the 90s!

  • sitting....

    made my sat good

    Deep.

  • @clydefrog4963 Not deep at all.... probably means absolutely nothing to the guy who wrote it.
