Hey I have a dazzle ( and an HD tv ) my dazzle records with the red white and yellow inputs ( standard definiton ) but when I record, I want to be able to play in HD. So how can I set it up so that I'm playing in HD ( with the red blue and green inputs ) but recording to my dazzle ( with my red white and yellow inputs ) ?
i dont have the red white and yellow ports on my HDTV, can i plug them into a scart and plug that into my tv and it will work the same? i have all other required ports...
@crazyhands14 i wish i could, those those haupauge things are on back order, no body has them now im looking for comparisons, and i found this vid, i tried the regular capture cards, for my 360, but you cant play in HD, and thats very annoying when your playing guitar hero, on a plasma, the lag is so horrible with out hd
Can i do it with a dazzle, cos i have a HDMI splitter and RCA to HDMI cable, and everything is good, but when i plug in my xbox and rca to hdmi cable into my splitter at the same time, my TV goes black !!!! Please can someone help !
I don't thnk the splitters work. I can't really explain why, but the setup doesn't work that way because a straight up cable won't work because the HDMI is a digital signal while the RCA is a analog. It can't just be converted through a cable.
Stick with component in short because a proper HDMI solution only works at about $400.
Splitter for an SD TV is completely different then this... IF you don't even have an HDTV, then I definately wouldn't recommend this, but what you are saying wouldn't work.

It transfers through both theoretically. If by Personal Internet Network you actually mean Local Area Network. Let's just say the Hava needs to connect to some sort of networking device to get a feed to your computer. That's kind of an awkward question to answer. Either way, you still need a computer source on (something that has capture software installed) to capture stuff. The only exception is the Hava Titanium which can record stuff onto an external hard drive (cont.)
I don't know how it works though since the firmware update for it just came out. So I don't know how you start recording on it so don't quote me on that. You'll have to do some research on that if you don't want your computer on. And as for your last question the Hava unit only runs through your ethernet cables. It does not use the internet at all (unless your using it for remote play, but you can't record with it) I use it for the Playstation Network and XBL and have never once had any problem.
ok dude, so say i got the Hava Platinum off amazon for 130 bucks...would i then just need to plug it into my wireless router, the hdtv and the 360 and it will be recording to my computer?
Essentially. Run the driver disc that came with your HAVA on your computer, and after you run it (and update your appropriate drivers), just open the HAVA PC Player and click the big recording button.

It actually took quite awhile, but that was mainly because I ordered it around Christmas time. It was just under 3 weeks... The express wasn't very expressed.
What do you mean without using outputs on your TV? You need to use the HD outputs on your TV at some put to get a picture from your 360. And yes, there is a way to do it. I said it at the end of this video briefly and I'm touching on it more in my new video Im working on. So, it is perfectly possible and you can even go to 1080p with it if you replace the pictures component cable to an Xbox 360 VGA cable.
Here's a good indication. If it's a flat screen LCD and/or plasma it does, but if it's a tube/CRT TV (the ones that are huge and a pain to carry around). It doesn't. Why? Because CRT TV's don't have Hi-Definition output as far as I know. Why don't you check in the back for a red/blue/green input?
You won't get a HD picture, but here's how you would do it. Basically, take your component cables and plug it into the input component on your DVD recorder (One side connected to your DVD recorder and the other side to your console or whatever), and than take another and plug it into the component output and into the back of your TV. Most DVD recorders don't have component input oddly enough, so I don't know how much that'd help you.
papagator do you use a HD box or just normal directv box?
i am interested in getting this to record my PS3 while playing in HD since the dazzle is worthless on HDTV but I am not too trilled about losing HDMI quality. is component alot worse than hdmi? I know half the ps3 games arnt even able to go 1080p and max at 720p so i guess it wouldnt be an issue?
I have an HD box, but it's not from DTV since I'm canadian and we have different thing. On that note, there may be some problems with your box because the tuner card that the hava comes with is SD. I don't THINK this affects streaming Because the SD tuner card basically, means, from my understanding, that your streams are in standard definition. My box has no problems, but I have no way on confirming it for your specific one. My guess is, though, that it'll be fine. (Continued on other reply)
Honestly, your perfectly correct. The disks can only go up to 720p; however, that's the highest (I believe this is correct in saying this) native resolution. The PS3, though, can upscale the game to 1080p with HDMI cables (So theoretically you are running on a 1080p image. The main jump is from 480i to 720p as far as I'm concerned, and to be totally honest you will only notice the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 40" and up (52" being the lowest "prime" of 1080p).
Sadly, you will probably never find one there. While doing my research on this unit (over a 6 month span) I've never once saw a unit on there at a good deal. You can, however, take advantage of shopping tools or the sales at havas main page (myhava) consistently has. If you don't need the wireless feature of mine (you'll get a better picture of you don't), you can get this Hava unit for only $110
Google a site called provantage and search for Hava Platinum. It's the cheapest you will get.
Basically, yes. It drastically cuts down the price because they don't need to put in a wireless internet card. So, it saves you about 50 bucks if you don't need it. Also, unlike the Hava Wireless unit this one comes with 2 component cables, 2 AV cables, and a ethernet cable, so that'd save you more money right there. Basically, you'd only need to buy a "special" cable (component or composite cable) if your hooking it up to a console because they have special jacks on one end.
It also may be useful to say this: the Platinum hava has special "mini-jack" inputs in the back of it. So, as far as my understanding, if you lose the component cables/composite cables it comes with, you will need to get them directly from Hava's website because it doesn't have "universal" jacks in the back of the unit like the wireless one. On the bright side, it doesn't make as much of a mess because you don't gotta pay attention to/fiddle with as many cable heads... and it saves alot of money
What kind of a cable do you need to buy. I purchased the Hava HD, no wireless, and I noticed that the component will not plug into the back of it. Where do you find the special cable that you need to purchase? Thanks.
If you bought the Hava Platinum you theoretically don't need to buy any cables. It comes with 2 component cables; however, if you bought you want to presumably hook it up to a console (like I think you do), you will need 2 cables. One would be the appropriate HD cable for your console, and the other would be a component extension cable or a component coupler. The latter will probably be more viable. Basically all a coupler is, is a small female double ended "cable" that is pretty selfexplanatory

Thank you for the quick response. I went ahead and purchased a component to component coupler piece which should work to connect the cables. Thanks a lot for the helpful video and helpful responses.
is it possibile to stream and record TV with this?
I have directv and would like to record/stream tv to my PC and what not, would this hava work with that aswell aslong as I changed the cables from HDMI to component?
This unit will record any component input connection and stream it to your PC. Basically as long as the thing your recording has a component video output that you can hook into the Hava's component input... It'll stream and record. I do it already :P
It is possible to connect any video Source to HAVA and Record the video streamed through HAVA on the PC. I have one and have connected my DirecTv Box to it. HAVA gives an Option of Video Pass through, so I am using that feature to connect the DirecTv to my TV as well.
Amazingly I can control my DirecTv from my Laptop using the HAVA On Screen remote Control. It is Awesome.
I have a question. Does the video passthrough workflawlessly? Like no artifacts, delay, or degration of quality will occur to my hd picture im playing off when its running through the hava correct?
Also, For the sd stream that is being sent to my computer by the hava, I understand that it can be recorded with the hava software or Media center in mpeg2. Can I use virtual dub or other programs to record, and record uncompressed frames rather then in mpeg2?
I have never seen an artifact once when using this unit.
There is no delay when your playing at all. This is the beauty of this unit. The picture you get on your TV is as normally timed as it can be (I can play Rock Band and guitar hero without changing any settings so you know there is no delay). You can also watch the game from a PC since the signal is relayed to a PC so it can record, but that is delayed much like half-life TV and most live events. You never need to use it to play the game.
There will be no quality degration when using the HAVA unit as long as you remember to install the anti-bleeding image from hava's website for component cables.
For the second question I have tried it, so I can't really tell you. If you want to explain how to do it I can test it for you. I know of it, but I've never tried it because the quality you get from the Hava unit has always suited my needs.
download virtualdub (google it). Goto file-capture and then see if you can select the hava as a device for recording. If you have a capture card, you select your capture card to record from. Hava should install a virtual capture device since it uses the network to stream it, so it might be selectable as a capture card in video programs like virtual dub. If it is, then it would allow recording like any ol capture card. If not, I guess mpeg2 recording is not bad direct from the hava
It works, I just tried it out. I have the option of "Hava Video Device" and "Have Remote Video Device". It makes me wonder... with virtual dub would it be easier than using my hacked firmware to record the connection from a remote connection?
Curiously though, what will you use this for? Besides an increased FPS, the picture wouldn't get any better would it?
yes it would get better. With virtual dub you can record in uncompressed frames. The raw video can be recorded like this. Its large like 1GB per 2 minutes of video or so but if you have a 300gb hard rive or larger its enough space. Raw video is much better quality then MPEG2, which is compressed video. I can then take my raw video, make a video out of it in any application i choose (I use WMM) then I can save it into a small size but still high quality wmv for uploading to the net.
You can also change into divx, or any other codec of your choosing. Mpeg2 is the codec DVDs use. Its rather large compared to others with the same quality (or less depending on bit rate). Going from raw video to final codec will retain all the quality unlike going from mpeg2 codec, then into another like divx, which hurts quality. Actually if you want, in Virtual dub you can record directly into your codec of choice, if you have the proper plugins
What do you mean by that? What do you want to do with Nero 8? As far as I know, Nero is just a player and a burner... I was not aware it could do anything else. But basically what the Hava will do is you use it's software to record you playing Call of Duty 4 into essentially an mp2 (I think, wiped my computer so I can't check) file. If you need any further assistance please reply.
I never said it could. I clearly said "Nero is just a player AND a burner" (Hence, NOT a video editor) and clearly told you to clarify your question. I don't know why you're so surprised.
Ethernet cable or wireless connection. As I pointed at (Yea I know it's kind of hard to follow) in the beginning, it has an ethernet. Basically, the video is streamed to a PC through your local area network (or online if you know how to hack it) which you open the HAVA Player Application and simply click the record button. The great thing... You won't notice the difference on your TV.
Yea I know what you mean... That's what I searched forever to ways to play in Hi Definition... And this is the easiest one. It works like a charm... But youtube really butchers the videos :P (The quality before the youtube butcher is actually quite nice)
the scaling of HDTV is good, even an old video game will look good, everything depends on the quality of the scaling of the TV, many people say the panasonic tvs come have a great scaling.

babygirl91580 2 years ago
Technically speaking, "SD" CRT TV's have way better 'lag' than HDTV's, but I assume you meant if you don't use the splitter setup.
This does allow you to play HD for a fairly cheap price and no delay in the pass through.
Also look at the Pinnacle PCtoTV or whatever it's called -- it's literally the same thing, but rebranded.

sweetness i just bought one tonight after watching this video how long did it take to get to you? im in montreal.
jayoneill 3 years ago
It actually took quite awhile, but that was mainly because I ordered it around Christmas time. It was just under 3 weeks... The express wasn't very expressed.
RoganSarine 3 years ago
if so how? I'm just wundering because i have a 360

Read my below comment.

can u play in HD while recording with a Dazzle Platinum in standard without outputs on ur TV?
JBallr2010 3 years ago
What do you mean without using outputs on your TV? You need to use the HD outputs on your TV at some put to get a picture from your 360. And yes, there is a way to do it. I said it at the end of this video briefly and I'm touching on it more in my new video Im working on. So, it is perfectly possible and you can even go to 1080p with it if you replace the pictures component cable to an Xbox 360 VGA cable.
RoganSarine 3 years ago
However, I don't understand how you'd want to do it without outputs on your TV.
RoganSarine 3 years ago
ok thnx i was wundering because i don't know if my TV has outputs on it
JBallr2010 3 years ago
Here's a good indication. If it's a flat screen LCD and/or plasma it does, but if it's a tube/CRT TV (the ones that are huge and a pain to carry around). It doesn't. Why? Because CRT TV's don't have Hi-Definition output as far as I know. Why don't you check in the back for a red/blue/green input?
RoganSarine 3 years ago
i have dvd recorder and need to know how to record in component i have blue green red the back of dvd recorder and tv help plz
ps sound works
sammanu13 3 years ago

I know half the ps3 games arnt even able to go 1080p and max at 720p so i guess it wouldnt be an issue?
dizeestl 3 years ago
I have an HD box, but it's not from DTV since I'm canadian and we have different thing. On that note, there may be some problems with your box because the tuner card that the hava comes with is SD. I don't THINK this affects streaming Because the SD tuner card basically, means, from my understanding, that your streams are in standard definition. My box has no problems, but I have no way on confirming it for your specific one. My guess is, though, that it'll be fine. (Continued on other reply)
RoganSarine 3 years ago
Honestly, your perfectly correct. The disks can only go up to 720p; however, that's the highest (I believe this is correct in saying this) native resolution. The PS3, though, can upscale the game to 1080p with HDMI cables (So theoretically you are running on a 1080p image. The main jump is from 480i to 720p as far as I'm concerned, and to be totally honest you will only notice the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 40" and up (52" being the lowest "prime" of 1080p).

ok nice thanks for the help. i might pick 1 of these up if I see 1 on ebay cheap
dizeestl 3 years ago
Sadly, you will probably never find one there. While doing my research on this unit (over a 6 month span) I've never once saw a unit on there at a good deal. You can, however, take advantage of shopping tools or the sales at havas main page (myhava) consistently has. If you don't need the wireless feature of mine (you'll get a better picture of you don't), you can get this Hava unit for only $110
Google a site called provantage and search for Hava Platinum. It's the cheapest you will get.
RoganSarine 3 years ago
Does the Platnium have everything your version has except the wireless then?
dizeestl 3 years ago
Basically, yes. It drastically cuts down the price because they don't need to put in a wireless internet card. So, it saves you about 50 bucks if you don't need it. Also, unlike the Hava Wireless unit this one comes with 2 component cables, 2 AV cables, and a ethernet cable, so that'd save you more money right there. Basically, you'd only need to buy a "special" cable (component or composite cable) if your hooking it up to a console because they have special jacks on one end.
RoganSarine 3 years ago
It also may be useful to say this: the Platinum hava has special "mini-jack" inputs in the back of it. So, as far as my understanding, if you lose the component cables/composite cables it comes with, you will need to get them directly from Hava's website because it doesn't have "universal" jacks in the back of the unit like the wireless one. On the bright side, it doesn't make as much of a mess because you don't gotta pay attention to/fiddle with as many cable heads... and it saves alot of money
RoganSarine 3 years ago
What kind of a cable do you need to buy. I purchased the Hava HD, no wireless, and I noticed that the component will not plug into the back of it. Where do you find the special cable that you need to purchase? Thanks.
channing321 3 years ago
If you bought the Hava Platinum you theoretically don't need to buy any cables. It comes with 2 component cables; however, if you bought you want to presumably hook it up to a console (like I think you do), you will need 2 cables. One would be the appropriate HD cable for your console, and the other would be a component extension cable or a component coupler. The latter will probably be more viable. Basically all a coupler is, is a small female double ended "cable" that is pretty selfexplanatory
RoganSarine 3 years ago
However, make sure on the coupler that both ends are component. Normally, they are RCA to component.

Thank you for the quick response. I went ahead and purchased a component to component coupler piece which should work to connect the cables. Thanks a lot for the helpful video and helpful responses.

is it possibile to stream and record TV with this?
I have directv and would like to record/stream tv to my PC and what not, would this hava work with that aswell aslong as I changed the cables from HDMI to component?
dizeestl 3 years ago
This unit will record any component input connection and stream it to your PC. Basically as long as the thing your recording has a component video output that you can hook into the Hava's component input... It'll stream and record. I do it already :P
RoganSarine 3 years ago
It is possible to connect any video Source to HAVA and Record the video streamed through HAVA on the PC. I have one and have connected my DirecTv Box to it. HAVA gives an Option of Video Pass through, so I am using that feature to connect the DirecTv to my TV as well.
Amazingly I can control my DirecTv from my Laptop using the HAVA On Screen remote Control. It is Awesome.
papagator2 3 years ago
I have a question. Does the video passthrough workflawlessly? Like no artifacts, delay, or degration of quality will occur to my hd picture im playing off when its running through the hava correct?
Also, For the sd stream that is being sent to my computer by the hava, I understand that it can be recorded with the hava software or Media center in mpeg2. Can I use virtual dub or other programs to record, and record uncompressed frames rather then in mpeg2?
007craft 3 years ago
I have never seen an artifact once when using this unit.
There is no delay when your playing at all. This is the beauty of this unit. The picture you get on your TV is as normally timed as it can be (I can play Rock Band and guitar hero without changing any settings so you know there is no delay). You can also watch the game from a PC since the signal is relayed to a PC so it can record, but that is delayed much like half-life TV and most live events. You never need to use it to play the game.
RoganSarine 3 years ago
There will be no quality degration when using the HAVA unit as long as you remember to install the anti-bleeding image from hava's website for component cables.
For the second question I have tried it, so I can't really tell you. If you want to explain how to do it I can test it for you. I know of it, but I've never tried it because the quality you get from the Hava unit has always suited my needs.
RoganSarine 3 years ago
download virtualdub (google it).
007craft 3 years ago
It works, I just tried it out. I have the option of "Hava Video Device" and "Have Remote Video Device". It makes me wonder... with virtual dub would it be easier than using my hacked firmware to record the connection from a remote connection?
Curiously though, what will you use this for? Besides an increased FPS, the picture wouldn't get any better would it?
RoganSarine 3 years ago
yes it would get better.
007craft 3 years ago
You can also change into divx, or any other codec of your choosing. Mpeg2 is the codec DVDs use. Its rather large compared to others with the same quality (or less depending on bit rate). Going from raw video to final codec will retain all the quality unlike going from mpeg2 codec, then into another like divx, which hurts quality. Actually if you want, in Virtual dub you can record directly into your codec of choice, if you have the proper plugins
Thanks for testing. Good to see it worked.

i ahev nero 8 could i make a cod4 video on it with a hava because i have both?
ltgrandmaps3 3 years ago
What do you mean by that? What do you want to do with Nero 8? As far as I know, Nero is just a player and a burner... I was not aware it could do anything else. But basically what the Hava will do is you use it's software to record you playing Call of Duty 4 into essentially an mp2 (I think, wiped my computer so I can't check) file. If you need any further assistance please reply.
RoganSarine 3 years ago
well i learned that nero 8 didn't edit video shit at all
ltgrandmaps3 3 years ago
I never said it could. I clearly said "Nero is just a player AND a burner" (Hence, NOT a video editor) and clearly told you to clarify your question. I don't know why you're so surprised.
RoganSarine 3 years ago
yeah its ok its not you at all it is just that i found out that it didn't work nevermind
ltgrandmaps3 3 years ago
You can use Windows Movie Maker...

i know and i did
ltgrandmaps3 3 years ago
How would you hooke this up to a pc? "the hava unit"
jmac05r1 3 years ago
Ethernet cable or wireless connection. As I pointed at (Yea I know it's kind of hard to follow) in the beginning, it has an ethernet. Basically, the video is streamed to a PC through your local area network (or online if you know how to hack it) which you open the HAVA Player Application and simply click the record button. The great thing... You won't notice the difference on your TV.
RoganSarine 3 years ago
cool i gotta try this out, chek out my vids but i have hd and i have to play on standard to record it suks.
Dre3000201 3 years ago
Yea I know what you mean... That's what I searched forever to ways to play in Hi Definition... And this is the easiest one. It works like a charm... But youtube really butchers the videos :P (The quality before the youtube butcher is actually quite nice)
