The reason it was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagesaki is because they were industrial cities. It was meant to destroy the industry so Japan will have no resources. The regular napalm bombing on Tokyo killed more people so all you anti-Americans who say it was horrible remember it's war and its been around since the first humans and will always be around.

By 1945 the US had learned how tio concentrate so much firepower on the battlefield that they could inflict 8 or 9 military fatalities to every American killed. It is difficult to calculate how many MILLION Japanese civilians would've starved before 'god/man' hirohito gave the surrender order.

The reason it was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagesaki is because they were industrial cities. It was meant to destroy the industry so Japan will have no resources. Everyone I know who served in WWII said that the Japanese would not have backed down unless civilians were killed....period. America starts to back down once so many of our troops are killed but the Japanese viewed their troops as being fully expendible and regardless of the death toll as far as their military, they would not back down. They were even willing to draft their young and invade other countries to force people into their military. So to everyone calling chesskhan a nazi, grow up.

It is always about the jews, the whole WWII. It doesn't matter that 50 million people died, Herishima and Nagazaki were vanished, France was occupied by the Nazi and they fought to death for their freedom, LOTS of Russians died too, but they have so much dignity to go everywhere and cry about their people and demand for money in return.
50 million died in that ugly war, so don't make only about Jews. Have respect for all the humanity.

@Buds0fMay Nobody says the WWII was just about jews. But the main thing Hitler wanted to accomplish was the extermination of the jews so of course that genocide will always be a prominent picture of the war. And the war in the pacific and the war in europe were actually two different wars, the only relation between them is the time. The jewish victims weren't just casualties of war, they were willfully arrested, sent to camps and exterminated in horrible fashion.

@DeathMyer Wrong Answer! H&N killed approx 200k. An invasion and/or blockade would've killed ten or twenty times that many.
J invasion of China 1937-45 killed > ten million civilians.

@DeathMyer On the contrary. Look up the "Saipan ratio". By 1945 the US had learned how tio concentrate so much firepower on the battlefield that they could inflict 8 or 9 military fatalities to every American killed. Therefore, it is easy to extrapolate that since Kyushu had a garrison x10 >Okinawa, the casualties would've been x10 higher. It is difficult to calculate how many MILLION Japanese civilians would've starved before 'god/man' hirohito gave the surrender order.

@Buds0fMay the Jews where non-combatants. they were rounded up enslaved in concentration camps and killed for no reason. true millions did die from hunger and collateral damage but when you look at the numbers they don't match up.
a lot of Russians did die but it was around 13% of the population and war related.
between 78% and 90% of European jews where killed for no reason.
the Jews have a right to say they've been wronged by Germany

@Buds0fMay Im sorry, but there is no sense in what you are saying there. Of course, alot of nations lost large numbers of their people to this terrible war. But the Jews were persecuted for their race, and were exterminated like cattle. They didnt die fighting for the motherland like the russians did, or evaporate in a flash of the nuclear age being born.
I respect what your saying, but the jews suffered for worse reasons than just war. It wasnt just the second world war, it was a genocide.

Had it not been for the atomic bomb in WWII, U.S. Armed Forces would've to invade the mainisland of Japan. Look at the U.S. death tolls for Okinawa and Iwo Jima. Now, how many of our soldiers would died just for invading the entire island of Japan? The answer is ALOT. Japanese believed that they should fight to death and it would have been extremely difficult for us to take that island. The next question is:protect our troops or nearly completely destroy the southern region of Japan. KEEP NUKES!

That DOES NOT mean that those who made the decision aare war criminals, etc. They made the decision they thought was necessary, given the circumstances. It may sound like a matter of semantics, but I am not talking about judging the situation. Nuclear bombs are stupid - to use them does represent the failure of civilization. Sometimes, however, civilization does break down, however. Even so, we cannot judge the character or the intentions of the men who made the decision, given the situation. War is stupid, but

You guys need to get over it. We bombed them because american lives weren't worth the projected casualities from invading. Truman didn't deploy the bomb for revenge, but because it was what was best for the troops under his command. Try not to confuse fact with your anti-america propaganda. We have nukes to deter an enemy. Spreading them is wrong, but if we use them, then we use them as a last resort in order to defend ourselves
