  • It's been a long time, But I keep Thinking that there was a debut single on Gordy that wasn't on any of their albums ??? any one have it??? it was about in 1979..I would love to hear it!!! it was in about this time frame maybe when there were 4 members?Unless It was in this album and I just did not know it At the time!!!! any body know what the title of that single was????? It would be great to hear it!! This was a great sounding group!!

  • Sounds like they tried to catch the tail end of the Disco era. Good stuff.

  • Do you see that cover!? Telephones with wires!!! :-)))

  • Chalenge: try to stay quite listing this song.

  • I really, really love this song. It has a powerful beginning and I like those little sounds they be making in the song too.

  • This is a really solid dance track. too bad I wasn't born earlier enough to truly live amongst this decade, or the 70s for that matter, and actually experience it.

  • one person cant dence the night away

  • im 12 and i love this music!!

  • Nice jam! I hate that I didn't buy this LP when it came out, big mistake...

do you know how I can get this entire LP without spending $100 on ebay? Thanks so much for posting all of this wonderful DeBarge music. This what you call true feel good music and its sorely missed today.

  • This song always bring such a cool 70/80s vibe. Then the noise-thing at 0:54 and the other parts of the songs were awesome! Then 2:10-2:26 I point out too. Also 2:50-2:52 also. It's good to have music apeak the words of the song without saying much.

  • I miss the 80's.

  • Very good album. And a very under-appreciated one at that.

  • I love El Garbage music too! oooooh:P

  • i love El Debarge music!

  • A.Abney aka Mama Debarge.

  • oo i like this..im 18 years old..and im really feeling 80's music..im young but seriously..im tryna catch up with what i missed out..sucks to be born in 91..where u forgett alll the oldschool and shit

  • @Prinay17 i know how you feel!!!! im a 91 baby too!

  • @Prinay17 THERE IS A WHOLE WORLD OF MUSIC WAITING FOR YOU...JUST ABOUT TEN YEARS BEHIND YOU...YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT!

  • @Prinay17 I know huh!? I was a '96 baby so I really missed out

  • I think somebody has already sampled that guitar rif at the beginning. This is a real banger

  • @fede4real. Yes, you're right. I've heard that in another song too. I can't figure out who used it though.

  • I love it....you can here some influence of Switch in here "Best Beat in Town". I love it. It's got me dancing.

  • i don't know if you figured this out already but yes A. Abney was their uncle

  • You know, I forgot to go back and look this up. Thanks! I knew that it was a maternal relative.

  • @JERRiCKKABaBy - no, Andre Abney was their cousin.

  • @JERRiCKKABaBy

Andre Abney (RIP) was the cousin of the DeBarges. He was part of my SMASH group backing up the album before they signed with Motown Records in 1979. Dance The Night Away was written in Cerritos when I bought them instruments tobe the band . Andre played drums.

  • Hey everybody, when you see a "Comment Pending" next to your comment, there's no need to post multiple times. I have it set up this way because I review all of posts to weed out spam. Thanks.

  • There's nothing like vintage beats.

  • It's a good album compared with the bullshit out now.

  • What was unique about this song was each member took part in the lead vocals which is rare to have 5 lead parts.

  • I love Debarge, but it is easy to see why this album did not do well. Too overproduced and it was too heavily influenced by disco. I also think that El was not doing much of the arrangements like he did on In a Special Way

  • I agree, there are a few gems on here, but you can sense the group hadn't found their "groove" yet

  • i love this first album i remember wen i was a kid, my sister had this,
