Oh no, that poor (ex)Chessie covered hopper has seen better days. It breaks my heart to see fallen-flag train equipment involved in wrecks, because they are some of the last remembrances of a now by-gone era. I'm glad this one fared better than the other cars ahead of it.
I am guessing this is Center Rd in Saginaw, MI. The tracks are ex CSX tracks but are now owned by Lake State Rail Road. LSRC's Saginaw Bay Southern line had 2 derailments in 3 days near this spot back in March. I actually saw that Chessie car on a train last night.
The electronic bell weights in at 10 pounds, and has a speaker that is hooked up to a chip that was recorded from a mechincial bell. Hey, don't talk crap about CN. CSX is the worst railroad in the U.S. history, like the L&N and C&O they don't maintain their tracks for 10 to 20 years. They let the tracks go to shit before they do anything about it.
The only thing that hurts CN is that their tracks suffer from ice-kink in the rail. This is the part where if it is extreme cold or heat the rail will become flexable and can't hold the train. CSX problem is like I mentioned above they don't maintain tracks for 10 to 20 years in the making. They believe if you have a flat tire it will reinflate if you keep driving on it.
Shit CN is one of the worst railways in North America for maintaining there equipment. They are more worried about how much money they make and how big there trains are. They have been hit with numerous lawsuits and federal charges.
Overall safety record for CN is not all that bad comparatively. And of course they are worried about making money. It is a private enterprise. That is what private enterprise does.
people can dog csx all they want but all I have to say is Canadian railroads are the worst by far, worse than U.S. tracks. Thats a proven fact. right me if im wrong.
k well im in Canada and i havent heard of a derailment in ages....but service...thats a completely different thing...lol CN takes ages to get their containers out of Vancouver and they are always on strike....i havent heard bad things from CP though.
you are right in the fact that they have wrecks, all railroads do. all i was saying is that even though CSX is in the top 7 railroads, they always seem to not keep their locomotives, rolling stock, and track in the condition that they should be. and secondly CN is one of my least favorite railroads because they bought out DM&E and IC&E which were 2 of my favorite railroads. im sorry i made you angry, i wasn't trying to.
ya well CSX, NS, and conrail is all we have in the south, and we aint ran by hill billys either, you should come down to SUMTER, SOUTH Carolina and see our rail yard ya, we only pull out mabey 120 cars or less a day but i really dont care, i like my small town and i will work for them sooner or later :)
i never said you were ran by hillbillys. i dont think that anyone from the south is a hillbilly. im sorry if you interpeted it that way. and the yard in my town isnt big either. the yard has to locomotives that go back and forth over a 120 mile strip of track. and hey they only pull out about 10-30 cars a week. i dont think the yard we have even holds 120 cars. and i hope you get a job working for your small town.
Agreed, Ive railgfanned the DM&E a couple of times and the trains are swaying as if they are ships on the Bering Sea in the Opi season! As far as i go the FRA declined the loan to build to the PRB because they need to use the money they have to fix their own track that is already there!
For example; Bullitt County, Kentucky, January 16th. Have all the residents returned to their homes by this time? Now lots of people will be fearful of tanker cars. Nice.
Hmmm I can find tons of evidence proving CSX a stupid railroad. I dont say that for no reason. And yes trains always derail but CSX has the most derailments almost every year and most of them are caused by stupid, avoidable things.
Thanks, Frank. So why the derailment? Opposite side rail sunk from washout? Why did so much train pass over the washout? Could engineer see washout and stop before getting to it?
The track went "wide-gauge" at the crossing. They said it was from all the rain. But, I've seen the condition of those tracks and this was due to happen. They had another derailment the previous night.
Why would some cars pass over it and others derail? Also, how can rail spread with all the ties holding the rails in gauge? (Not visible now on my dial-up, I recall one side appeared to sink.) Thanks, Captain.
Now I can see. Nice steady video! If engine spread, I don't understand how so much train traveled successfully over the track. Or how rails can spread with so many ties holding gauge.
it's not csx rail road it's sex rail road both words sound the same anyways. as far as that fan shit is concerned, well the shit with the corn in it will hit it for damn sure. especially when the insurance claims come in. somebody is fucked. now you know why i call it the sex rr instead of csx. so now i am sure corn prices are going to go up do to a shortage in corn and train cars! ha ha ha
how about this?instead of corn it'll be porn like a corn dog being a porn dog & it'll be brain instead of train & brain cars!!!!that's what you are saying!
sure why not? either its the trains or the working class of people in this country, we are all getting fucked!!!!!!!! so why not the shit i said too, its all the same, fucked!!!!!!!

Which direction was the train traveling?
Yes, they can turn off the signals, or just the bells, if they wish.
The signals will operate as long as there is power to the system.
They will also operate for days on stored battery power.
