  • wow Mr Manley mi respect him he has strength and vigour " as long as he is this party was in power Jamaica will walk on their hands and not on theirs knees" but sadly most Jamaicans will kiss american ass

  • The worst leader to happen to Jamaica............Michael Manley ruined what could have been the most progressive black country in the world!

  • haha its rather cute when i see whites with jaimaican accent, i find jaimaican english kind of hard to understand, any british jaimaican girl wanna teach me some jaimaican english?

  • Michael Manley was so advanced for his time, had we practice what he was preaching we would be less dependent on foreign imports. His idea was we should grow what we eat, and eat what we grow.

  • BIG UP FADDA MANLEY...ONE DON!!!!!!!! DAT MI SEH.

  • He had to the IMF only after the US orchestrated the the demise of the Jamaican economy. They pursued a consorted effort to sabotage the government to destabilize the country & the JLP aided & abetted it all the way.

  • @supervllan @supervllan @supervllan You actually believe that propaganda. His "borrowed" social reforms were on the right path, his methods were wrong. You don't declare class wafare on your own people and exoect to succeed. Jamaica lost 40% of its professionals in the mid 70's because of Manley. He chased the bauxite companies out of Jamaica and so other investors were afraid to invest in Jamaica. He should have listened toNorman Manley and stick to trade unionism and leave politics alone.

  • Thank you Manley for not bowing down to the control of America and putting them in their place as they want to control everyone's country and have their say in everyone's country

  • My parents were telling me about this, was very interesting I had to look it up, thanks for the upload.

  • @Bunfire123 My pleasure

  • Manley was Jamaica's Judas. In the end... went begging on his knees to the IMF.

  • Manley was Jamaica's Judas.

  • Grange said 'and the people bought it' as if Michael Manley were her current adversary. Jamaican politics is so full of partisan (and greedy) politicians. This comment so embodies it. No praise for a man who did Jamaica a lot of good. And who says socialism and capitalism cant marry or co-exist? I believe this is the key rather than a means to our detriment. Viva Jamaica...

  • Mouh says :" Destroy the Empire ! Now !""

  • Destroy the Empire !

  • i swear it is mind blowing to hear a white man speak with a jamaican accent.

  • @mjjcng8958 Michael Manley was bi-racial (white and black). So are a small (but noticeable) number of Jamaica

    people today.

  • @sandsofthedepth i had no idea

  • @sandsofthedepth he actually kind of reminds me of colin powell a little bit who is by the way jamaican american. i really apperciate you for point that out to me

  • @mjjcng8958 welcome ;)

  • @sandsofthedepth there are alot of mixed ppl in jamaica

  • @24Cenac

I used to think that races could transcend differing levels of intelligence but videos like this made me realise there is great intelligence to be found in supposed stereotypes after all.

  • @SeventhSun You always need to feel you are superior to someone else ,dont you?Drop the "White supremacy" why dont you?

  • jah jah bless

  • Democratic socialism is the way. Fuck the jewish invented robber capitalsim. They have made the word socialism a enemy. Well it was included in another system that actually worked for its people. USA get out of Jamaica and whole latin america and southa america.

  • The system was set in place long before Manley. Jamaica was stolen land and an ilegitimate government created by a foriegn monarchy, capitalist and thieves. Jamaicans are, by and large, the ancestors of victims. Our forefathers were brought to Jamaica to toil for free for white people. Once we understand this, we'll begin to understand the system better. Using commerce and ingenuity, we can control our economics

  • @lemmieatit Jamaicans in the west central parts of Jamaica also have taino ancestry.

  • @SweetAdvice Not true. Even if there were trace DNA of the Tainos, I have never seen a Jamaican with those features at all. Those Jamaicans are black/white descended. Mi live a Jamaica all a mi life, soh mi wudda nwo.

  • @sandsofthedepth You can look up... DNA evidence taino dna jamaica.

I know people who have the features only on the West but none are on the Eastern part of Jamaica

  • @sandsofthedepth I ment to websearch

    DNA evidence taino dna jamaica

If you are from the western parts of Jamaica chances are you have some taino.

  • @HairH2O / the Taino had to cunuu away for their lives ,they took cunnuu from runaway bay ,wet to Cuba ,where they settled in Cuba [Oriente[ is called Jamica, the descendants of Taino did somewhat better in Cuba ,Quisqueya [Haiti ],and Borinquen [porto rico] ,at least they survuved somewhat. Out of many ,One battered People, a better we a batter all now

  • @sandsofthedepth You should know also that Jamaica is not just black and white. Look for the youtube video called "My racial ancestry from a DNA test" An African American who has a Jamaican father took a test, he thought his Jamaican father's heritage was just black and white but he was wrong.

  • Michael Manley faced the same problems that President Obama is facing today. He cared about the middle class and the under privileged. It scared the rich and greedy (like here in America) and so they flee from Jamaica like the cock roaches they were and used Edward Seaga to lead their cause. The JLP organized and carried out several acts of economic sabotage. The US Government feared his brand of socialism so close since Manley was very influential throughout the west indies. Then came the IMF!

  • The sis, in black suit, speaks as if Jamaicans 'love of freedom' ws some honourable tradition, as if the Founding Fathers of US were born in Kingston. Lol..A slave tradition does not breath that air; and the 60s invention of nationalism (Island nationalism not possible during British Period) is a key to the Island's woes! Its educated class tends not to be that 'deep'. A West Indian Federation ws the natural solution for the Caribbean peoples.

  • Wonderful video. Great thanks for posting. An important part of history.

  • The USA has a history is meddling.

  • Socialism does not work. It never has and never will. What works is making sure that Government does not overtaxed the people and getting out of the way so that people can take charge of their own lives.

  • Spoken like a true capitalist...tsk tsk!

  • Socialism and more Government control brings nothing but fraud, waste and corruption. Ask Kern Spencer (aka Bulbe).

  • The JLP, Eddie Seaga and Bruce Golding are the biggest frauds and the only distinction between Kern Spencer and them is, he got caught and they have not been.

  • Socialism probable would have worked under Manley if the US Economy did not collapse in the 1970's becuase of the oil crisis. No more money was flowing from the USA. What caused Manley's demise was his close relationship to Castro. Cuba did a lot for Jamaica back then. They built schools and trained doctors. Now Bruce Golding is asking China for money because the USA and Jamaica are both broke. It is ironic that the USA is collapsing slowly. The capitalistic system of debt is unravelling.

  • Well said my friend. Only a true historian would know these facts, kudos!

  • its such a shame that innocent people suffer from the evils of Politricks

  • Manley was the best. The CIA did the same in chile when they overthrew an elected socialist govt. Just read the schock dictrine diisaster capitalism. I always wondered how the super market shelfs were full the day after election in 1980? never did figure that one out. The US used the JLP to totally fuck up the country in the 1970's.

Can u imagine that Seaga and the JLP called the ANC a terrorist organisation back in the 80's.

  • The African National Congress?

  • So did the U.S. In fact, the U.S. government officially removed Mandela and the ANC from the terror watch list only a year ago!

  • you mean that america doesn't want a country to rise?? i'm no good at politicy. could you please explain?? thanks!

  • Manley was too friendly with Cuba; USA's cold war nemesis. That's what put him in disfavour with the US.

Seaga, American born, Harvard educated pro-USA, capitalistic, promised bauxite (Jamaicas #1 resource) to Reagan, etc. and this is how he won favour.

Add in the COLD WAR, and then you get a situation like this.

  • We intend to walk the world on our feet and not on our knees.

    RIP Mike Manley

  • its democratic socialism it wouldnt be as harsh as complete communism to freedom ...people think of money too much all the time and they will sell out heath and education to wear timbaland and chains of platinum....fuck you money grabbers

  • The Manley era was a tough one but had it not been for the covert and structured plot that lead (led) to its failure, Jamaica would have been much better off today.

  • At 1:08

I take issue with people making it seem that socialism is synonymous with being African. Botswana's style of governance which is influenced by it's African traditions doesn't share too many similarities with how Castro has run Cuba.

  • And then special interests set ou to destroy both him and Jamaica

  • thanx for sharing.

  • The man who's presenting the documentary also did 'Empire Pays Back' (I think that was the title) a few years back.

    Did you see it?

  • I didn't see that, but the guy's name is Robert Beckford. He does a lot of documentaries on Brtish TV.

  • @AfricansArise What is the correct title of this film? is it "I Love Jamaica"? or "Blood and Fire"? im guessing one of those that aired on the BBC for the independance celebrations last time. Lets hope they air similar things in 2012....

  • @bwoyrough It's called Blood & Fire, it came on BBC2 if I remember rightly. I'm sure they will have similar things planned for 2012.

  • thanks for posting...very interesting!
