i will half re phrase my last comment, patrols drivelines are absolutely bulletproof especially their gearboxes/ transfer case which is bullshit big. toyotas are actually better built or should i say- refined, much nicer to drive and in all honesty they both got their pros and cons and if i were to buy one i realy wouldn't be able to choose id probable go the better deal but i do like the 100 series alot

hat's off to both these great breeds of 4x4's, i would rather the patrol over the cruiser thou, cruisers are a great vehicle, but to many buck toothed over compensator's drive them thinking they are all that, its no the car's fault really, but id rather not be classed as a one of these kinda people (im not saying all cruiser owners are like this.... just the majority in this town are.... mainly the young kids who get dady to buy them one)

toyotas have the weak transfer cases& diffs where as the patrols diffs were originally designed for a 6 tonne truck, its pointless buying a toyota 4x4 because they are stronger/ cheaper& better AND the patrol is the only factory standard 4x4 to still be made with coil springs all round

I've driven both in sand dunes, where a cars ability can really be put to test. Nissan patrol was hands down the winner. It is virtually unstoppable.

True that, mate. Patrols're simply better designed as opposed to LCruisers because they retain a lot of the original military design. both Landcruisers and Patrols were originally built for military purposes.

Firstly military forces care very little for extra offroad ability. They just want to get there safely at a moderate speed in one piece and have the vehicle not being repaired very often.

In this regard the landcruiser with its big underworked motor is closer to miitary specs.

its the same reason our Jeeps and your 110 landrovers lasted so many decades and were so popular.

They had gutless motors, were underloaded, and that is why they lasted decades and decades of army service.

The Patrol won...the one on the left is the Patrol - it nearly gets stuck, and then powers through to get ahead of the LandCruiser.

In the Middle East, where petrol is cheap and there's a lot of money, most hardcore desert-dune freaks choose the Patrol. No argument - Toyotas are great, they are tough, they are powerful, and come with a lot of features...but for pure off-road performance, Nissans stand tall.

Modified, things change, and they're both great off-road.depends on the driver.
