@tblomquist, indeed Beta Petrol has produced this song and their site also lists it... however they have not put any credits with it and so the search continues... we are close now:-D
Btw, and maybe needless to say... the song is awesome!
G.E. Markenting Department says the production house for this music is Beta Petrol in Los Angeles. It is a :60 piece. The composer and performer is Jimmy Haun. Haun has done stuff with YES and Jonathan Elias of Elias Arts.
Matt, your right man this versions way better than the original. The Marimba sounds much larger, this piece is much more epic- This is really is a great commercial
man i wish there was a way to get a recording of the original song but with the marimba or whatever they replaced the piano on "perpetuum" with here, because the substitution is absolutely prime. also there is a lushness to the strings that isn't quite there in the recording i bought from itunes
Kwacky2 I'm sure GE licensed the song from Penguin Cafe, they didn't just copy it, they'd be sued. on Penguin Cafe's site they have a page for licensing and their music is used in ads, films etc etc. The GE Version is epic i hope i can find it to buy.
i can't imagine ripping...most likely liscencing. But then again you never know... In any case you're definitely right. Thanks for helping me keep my sanity this morning cause I would have spent it all looking for the song!
please help me find this song. please!!!!

I knew I recognized this song. The radio show This American Life used it once in one of its shows (But they actually played the original).

a marimba

This is a synthesized version of Perpetuum Mobile, but I have no idea who is performing. It could be a version done only for the commercial.

This is my favorite commercial of 2009 so far!

the company can make money off of this song if its one of a kind.
AntiVenomFangX 2 years ago
they can't make money off it, since they ripped it off from the original composer

i disagree. i don't think it's better than the original. the original is the true masterpiece, it's a classic.
