  • thank you!! i have moved from window pc to apple mac everything is upside down upside out on the mac but your videos are a great help thank you again!!!

  • Thanks for this.

    :)

  • there was a better way using right click after creating a workflow, but its not available in snow leopard.

  • It's such a retarded method, shocked that Mac haven't sorted this out years ago tbh

Thanks for the videos, but useless to me.. in 10.4 Automator is different with no files n folders that Im able to see on the left column...

  • its necesary if only select a carpet?? i need rename individual files.. i need help please!!! tanks

  • @isabelidejah Carpet? I don't understand.

  • @macmostvideo yes, for example i need select 5 files that there are inside of the carpet.... not all... necessarily I have to select everything that is inside the folder?

  • @isabelidejah I don't understand what you mean by "carpet." If you are looking to rename 5 files, just rename them one at a time.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  • thank you this is a great tutorial.. keep up the good work..

  • Thanks!!! Wonderful tutorial.

  • come on guys, this is something apple should implement in finder, like in windows!! I dont wanna open automator everytime I wanna rename 4 or 5 files!! APPLE PLEASE ADD SOME MULTIPLE FILE RENAME OPTION IN FINDER in YOUR NEXT SNOW LEOPARD UPDATE, is it that hard????

  • Thank you, this was most helpful. I was able to rename over 100 pictures in no time!

  • Thanks

  • Hey umm, How do i Change file extension on multiple files??? idk how! can you tell me??!! pleasee

  • You can use the same technique as described in the video. Try it and experiment. There is a lot you can do.

  • thanks for this, i was having a difficult time running a workflow, in leopard all i used to do was highlight then right click to the workflow now it seems to have changed where u need to have automator running... thank you very much!

  • Thanks for the videocast. A quick question. I am trying to name some scanned pdf's based on the metadata that is attached to the file. I know how to extract the metadata but how do you then assign that information to be used to name the file in question? Thanks

    Mark

  • Do you mean in AppleScript? That would be the only way to do it, if you can get the metadata in AppleScript. Not sure of the exact commands, though.

  • Thanks for your quick reply. I had hoped to do it in automator. There is an action rename finder items (or even rename pdf documents) but what I can't figure out is how to use the text variable I'd just extracted using the action "get pdf metadata" into the renaming action.

I have almost no knowledge of applescripting so that would be a lot harder for me to do in applescript.

  • Try searching for "automator rename pdf to author" and there are some interesting things that may lead you in the right direction.

  • extremely useful video. Could you may be show us other workflow, as in if we could set up our computer to play song or open a website at a particular time using automator.?

    Thank you,

    sincerely,

    your fan.

  • Check out episode 247 for another Automator tutorial. Then, to schedule one, use iCal.

  • I use an an app Name Mangler seems to be easier

  • Had to reboot my iMac 3 times today wooooot roll on windows 7.

  • nice video. what really annoys me about the finder is that you cant cut and paste files. you can only copy

  • you can drag files while pressing command and it will move instead of copying

  • Good stuff to know. I don't use Automator as much as I should.

  • Great video! Keep it up!

  • useful vid as usual guys
