Wow, i'd say you have the MOST original style I've ever seen. Sure, there many greats, but holy you know what? Sir, you just rocked the you know what outta my....hmmm, sure would like a do-over starting at prime time instead of 47.
Well, at least I can watch poetry in motion right here anytime I want, right?
Thank you!! It's combination of EC-2/EC-resos on toms, Powercenter-RD/Hazy 300 snare, the mini-timbales G-2 clears and finally the BD is a EMAD2/EMAD reso.
@drummertero I continually remind myself that, at the drums we're trying to tell a story utilizing a language that is driven by rhythm, dynamics, density (sound) and tone. Not an easy trip but well worth the effort!
That's so good to hear because it 's exactly why I take the time and energy to help fellow drummers to discover their sound, their signature at the drums. Thanks and you're very welcome Kyle.
I agree with Kyle here Bob. You deserve an award for the time and effort that you dedicate to help people understand and enjoy drumming. I've learnt so much about tuning from watching your videos and every time I see you play it just makes me want to do the same! Bob you're a great asset to the drumming community, the world of music and also to Youtube. If every walk of life had someone as willing to share their expertise with the world as you then we would have a far happier population.
Thank you so much Adam! Consider your comment printed out for my studio wall! Whenever I feel overwhelmed with YT comments & responses, I leaf through letters like yours as a reminder "we" need to keep drummers at the drums. This way we all inspire future drummers to grow our industry. Thanks again! Bob
Hey Bob, Great job as always. You, alongside Mike Portnoy and Neil Peart(Like most aspiring drummers) have always made me strive and be proud to be a drummer. Now I'm just wondering, since you're an endorser for Zildjian, a DW as well(Hope I'm not mistaken) how do you become one? I've always wanted to be an endorser for someone like ddrum or DW. Thanks greatly in advance.
Endorsements are all about "value". It's a 2-way street, a true business relationship. Promoting product through your ability and reputation is what companies are after. You need to convince them that you are a "valued" resource. My approach is..."What can I do for this company versus what can the company do for me". This ethic has proved successful throughout my career.
Actually I compose all the music on the channel and on my DVD products. Music composition is my favorite hobbie next to drumming. I sequence the tunes in Logic, Reason and record in Pro-Tools. So,,,thank you! I may open a website strickly to distribute music and loops I produce. For the time being, pick a tune and send me your EM address and I'll send you a drum-less mix to practice with.
Best to send a "personal message" with your EM url. I'll track down the drum-less mix and send it to you. Yes, please credit me for the composition if you use it publicly. It's fun to play on this tune.
I endorse Zildjian cymbals so I work occasionally with Paul Francis, the "Cymbal Master" on new configurations. The hats are 11" Oriental (semi-flat bell) The ride is an 18" Breakbeat with 1 rivet. It sounds somewhat like Steve Gadd's ride, Dry, dark and articulate... what's not to like?!!
Thanks Zack. I do a lot of writing. I'm alway working on music composition. So yes, I write all the tunes on my videos and DVD projects. I sequence the music in Logic 8 and Pro-Tools. One of these days I plan on doing an expose' on music composition and new technologies.
It's DW's quick throw-off clutch. Just hitting the curved arm disengages the top cymbal to ride on while playing dbl bass drum or double. pedals. Stepping on the HH re-engages that top hat.
I listened to this on headphones last night, then went to the studio and just totally monstered my kit from A to Z... RMV Concept drums are naturally tonal, sweetly resonating thin shell drums, made from Bapeva (Brazilian maple) and Copaìba, but now, thanks to your tuning tips and this really sweet solo, they are even more musical... and when your lead guitarist actually pricks up his ears and comments, you know it's "right". Bob - why didn't I find you 30 years ago!?
hi Bob, I've been trying to find the music like yours and play drums as improvising or doing solos but i can't seem to find them, did you make them?
Also, i have collector DW drums but i juz can't seem to get the original heads to make the dampened sounds i want for the tom toms, i have 10, 12,14,16 toms. i dont have access to drum stores around me so buying new heads is impossible, any advice? i saw people putting duck tape on the heads, does that work?
I write all the tunes on the channel and sequence them. What your hearing is me and my Mac. However, I do have a CD project on iTunes titled "Prior Art". I include 7 drumless mixes fro drummers to down load.
Head suggestions- EC-2's with EC-resos sound great on DW's.
Bob what happened to the drumframe? distribution still available or did you discontinue the product by the way thanks for all of the innovations over the years i love when our instrument evolves
Me too... you're welcome. The DrumFrame is close to my heart but due to rising costs of labor and raw materials, DF is not in production. However, we are negotiating a partnership with a well-know manufacturer/distributor hoping to bring it back into the percussion industry. We continue to supply replacement parts to our devoted DF owners. Please stay in touch. We will make an announcement on our site.
