  • very nice job m8!! looks like extrudabody itb's??

i've done about the same on my "88 e30.. check it out!!

    greetings from holland :)

  • amazing sound! today no one knows datsun...

  • Beastly.

  • so sexy

  • There is just something about Datsun and keeping them N/A that I like, no matter the engine. Very well done !

  • Could you give me some information on the ITB's like price and manufacturer and where I can purchase. I have a Cefiro with an RB25 and am planning on doing the same thing. By the way your Z sounds beast!

  • @RyujiMiki The ITB's are from "EFI Hardware" here in Australia and retail around $400 each. These are older versions as I know he has released updated versions with better features. If you Google EFI Hardware he should be easy to find. And thanks for the comment! Now I have an L24 with the same setup on it and achieved around 200 Hp at the wheels.

  • @Zedman260 question why did u go back to the l24 over the rb are the L series engines better na?

  • Wow you have some dumb people who have commented on here. Great car mate!

  • to thoes of you who think a inline six and or a 240 z could be used or turned into rice crap, yes they could but this car and engine are of racing heritage not rice nice ride man trade you

  • @recruted exactly. thats like saying a camaro with a bigger engine in it is a ricer. the z series was the muscle car from japan. like it or not it was there.

  • This is NOT rice.

Rice is a 98 HP Civic with a wing the size of Texas on it.

  • Oh my gord that sounds like it's going to eat small children. ITB's FTW!

  • inline 6?

  • @AndyRoddick969 Very much so...

  • @AndyRoddick969 no inline 10...

  • @KLONIME1001 thanks smart ass. i dont know much about cars dip shit.

  • @KLONIME1001 i meen if u cant fucking tell if its 6 or 4 cylinder then you realy fucking dont know ANY thing about cars.. u would look at LS1 and say its flat 4 or some shit like that

  • @AndyRoddick969 yepp all nissan RB series engines are Inline 6

  • I love boosted nissans but n/a sounds so much more beautiful.

  • not original

  • @danyel19090 No shit Sherlock.....did I say it was?

  • @Zedman260 no I know but that was my commentary ;) don't worry lol and it's a cool car too

  • awesome! rb engines with throttlebodies/ carbs are the bomb!!

  • @D0GB0X Where do you see a carb? ITBs are for huel injected cars as well

  • awesome!! rb engines and throttlebodies/carbs are the bomb!

  • I applaud the work and the effort but Nissans and boost belong together.

  • @DVcustomZ Boost is nice but there's something about induction noise that me likeeee ;)

  • @Zedman260 I admit it does hve a distinct sound how do you deal with the AFR with a MAF car and ITB's?

  • @DVcustomZ With ITB's you cannot run a mass airflow meter; unless I had six of them or ran an airbox/plenum chamber which defeats the purpose of running individual throttles. ECU is tuned to run a fuel map with pre-determined fuel ratios dependent on load vs RPM. I can run in closed loop mode but need a oxy sensor. Will add one later but I can wait!

  • That's a good sound for an old Datsun :)

  • Still sounds old school .

  • Sounds great!

  • sounds hot! and i think must be awesome to drive. i just stay away from the NA route cause RB NA stuff is hella expensive

  • what kinda gains do you get with itb's on the r525de , and where can i get them lol.

  • How is the response and is it pretty quick?

  • Sounds great holly shit!

  • nice work. i like the clean orange paint. car looks mint from this video.

  • I picked up a RB25DE complete with harness, all accessories, and tranny for a VERY reasonable price. Everyone keeps beating me up on the forums, saying what's the sense with no turbo. So I have to ask, how does it run? These have a 10.5:1 compression ratio correct? Would you say over 220HP with your individual throttle bodies?

  • @jollyranchhand With my stock NA RB25, I managed to get 160Hp at the wheels. With some good cams and clever mods, over 250 should be attainable. Turbo is quicker and easier for power, but NA has the wonderful intake noise that I love...

  • @jollyranchhand ha, you bought the wrong motor

  • Comment removed

  • @mentor2506 I got everything for $500. Motor, trans, harness, computer, everything. I can get a turbo conversion kit for $650, and I'll have no turbo lag off the line with 10:1 compression. So, laugh all you want mate.

  • @jollyranchhand don't worry, i will. It's still not the right motor just because you changed a few parts. Tits may be tits, but fake tits are still fake.

  • @mentor2506 So if he got a turbo engine, and then upgraded the turbo, would it then be "fake"?

  • @blockheadface no, it would obviously be a turbo motor that has been upgraded. The fact is that the metals in the blocks for the turbo motor and the non-turbo motor are not exactly identical.

  • Hi,

Would you consider making another plate to fit ITB's to the RB25DE? I have one in my pink S13.

If so, let me know your price etc.

    Cheers,

    Tim

  • @alorax123 They're not too hard to make yourself; just need a good sabre saw and someone who can weld ally.. If you are in Melb, I can let you know where to get all the bits you need.

  • oh shit watch out there is a monster on the streets!!

  • looks amazing & the starter switch was fantastic! quick question to you sir.....what tranny did u use? and wot ecu?

  • @iamthepolice Thanks... Trans was a 71C RB 5 speed from a NA Skyline and ECU is a Wolf V500.

  • @iamthepolice Tranny ? Oh gosh i though u mean shemale..

  • were is the breathing system in this?

  • i dont care for datsuns but thats bad ass good job

  • Comment removed

  • @Yazoku

putting a turbo on the car doesnt make it rice........ turbo = makes you the complete opposite of a ricer.

This RB sounds amazing though. I have to admit.

  • @Yazoku everyone needs to quit putting the word ricer in the same sentence as datsun.

  • lol 1st rb engine ive seen with itb's sounds pretty gun

  • @mattforce400 rb26 has them but with a single manifold to collect the boost

  • @sweetaction69 rb26 only have a single throttle body doesnt it?

  • @mattforce400 no look it up it has six, thats why theres that bar that goes across the manifold

  • @sweetaction69 OH thats the plenum ya talkin bout...standard rb26 have a single throttle body on a plenum........

the plenum dont have throttle bodies on em

  • @mattforce400 ok you win, im not gonna agure, my friends have imports ive checked them out, i myself am a truck guy, but trust me theres 6 throttle bodys and one manifold

  • @mattforce400 The RB26DETT plenums do have 6 butterflies in the runners near the head; RB20/25's have the single throttle body on top of the plenum. You can upgrade to a plenum that doesn't go over the rocker cover to the turbo side with one larger throttle body.

  • @Zedman260 , where can you get performance parts exhaust manifolds cams ect for the rb20 n/a ? cant find anything

  • @jimikestell1 I've seen plenty of nice headers for the NA RB's on "Trademe" NZ's ebay for very cheap prices. Cams are available in Melbourne but a bit pricey...last price I got was around $990 for the pair. Inlet manifold I made myself..

  • What were you using as engine management?

  • @loav8r Wolf V500

  • what seats are those and did u have to make custom brackets for them to fit ?

  • @xxsublimexx5 Seats are Velo, not sure of model but used race seat mounting brackets but haven't used any rails. Bolted with some extra 8mm alloy plate to the original seat mounts on the chassis.

  • Them headers look like dog shitttttt

  • not headers you stupid shit don't you know the dif between an exhaust manifold and headers man go back to auto zone

  • Very nice man, RBs are amazing. How come you decided to go with the 25de and not 25det?

  • Had all the EFI gear and thought not many people have tried this way so I went ahead with it. There are heaps of DET setups and not many DE's. Anyway, the L24 is back in now :)

  • I bet you saved yourself quite a lot of money also going with an NA setup. Don't have to worry about custom fabbing all that piping for the turbo. But you shaved a good bit of weight also not having to worry about the entire turbo system all together is a major plus. leaves way more room to work on it to.

  • thats one awesome car. what are you going to use it for? looks pretty modified for street lol

  • Thanks.. Its used for street / club track events. Its always driven to the events rather than put on a trailer!

  • damn!!! that´s all i can say!

  • I've never heard that kind of music come from a 6 cylinder.

  • love it! I got a 73 myself and looking for a RB25 or RB30 shoot me a link if ya got any hook ups for them.

  • o kool ok thanx man

  • RRRRRRRRRRace car. Good job buddy.

  • i did a little homework when i had a couple of 240-z's...fastest one, if you can find one is the 1970, including zx's until they came out with the turbo. I also prefer the looks of the older ones.

  • My Z is a 70 model, but any zed can be made to go quick with the right engine/suspension mods..

  • They weren't the fastest, just the lightest. Most of the Zs actually were fairly equal because as the weight went up, so did the displacement.

  • yeah a wopping 0.2 liters

  • hey where did u find itbs 4 it ?

  • Manifold was made by me and throttle bodies can be bought off the shelf..

  • i need new underwear

  • That thing sounds like such a beast without the exhaust.

    Sick work mate.

  • thatd be a smooth setup to drive with 24v

  • Sounds great! Almost as good as an L series with triple carbs!!

  • wasnt expecting that sound from your camera because my sub below my computer desk just vibrated as if I was standing there with you :)

  • hey dudes should i trade my 1973 240z for a 1982 280zx please answer soon

  • HELL NO.

  • That's a Hard decision. If you really want the higher performance then you may want the 280zx. Once you've reduced the emissions equipment and tuned the engine up properly you will start to see boosts in engine performance but one BIG advantage the 280zx has over the 240z, 260z, and the 280z, is Power steering every Z predating the ZX only had manual steering. But a Late model 280zx say a 1982 or 1983 would be your best bet because they had rack and pinion.

  • All zeds have rack & pinion! Dont be wimp toughen up with manual steering! (you can fit PS to a 240z btw)

240z is a waaaaay better performer than a zx, the zx chassis is no match for the s30z! They also look better & if extreme HP is wanted drop an RB into it!

    240 for life! :)

  • "All zeds have rack & pinion! " Not True early ZX cars had worm and roller steering.

"the zx chassis is no match for the s30z!" The ZX chassis is actually a good little bit stiffer than an s30 chassis, which helps a great deal in cornering. the ZX cars also had a lower stance with lower center of gravity and improved steering Geometry over the s30

"They also look better" No argument there!

  • S30s are lighter too!

Well mine is a 71 240z, with a 12point weld in (FIA CAMS approved) cage, so its very stiff!

The outright cornering ability of the S30 is better than an S130!

All "Zeds" not ZX's have rack and pinion (sorry needed clarification)!

  • "if extreme HP is wanted drop an RB into it!" I would SO HIGHLY Recommend against this, especially if your looking for practical horsepower. The RB26 makes less than 300 horsepower stock with it's ECM limiter programs in place. MEaning if you want to unlock the full stock HP potential you need to take it to someone who knows how to reprogram an ECM the Majority of people whjo know how to do this PROPERLY live in Southern Cali and Florida.

  • Well even thats almost double stock power, but over here in Oz, RB mods are super common, its very very easy to get 300rwkw+ from an RB26, with dozens of dedicated performance workshops within 20mins drive from me!

Rb30 is also very common over here & we have more RB20 & 25's than you could poke a stick at!

However im building an all out stroker L with itb's for mine! (i cant use a non factory delivered engine for my class of racing! So either L or S20, atmo, carb or itb, *any head..OS giken?!)

  • you run in to other problems with RB engines other than just ECM managment.. Most RB engines in the US Market (which are the trendiest engines in the US Nissan market) tend to be twin turbo. The TT inline six engine presents a problem for left hand drive US model S30 bodies because the Steering shaft travels almost directly through where the rear turbo and exhaust manifold are mounted. Only two options are to convert over to single turbo or relocate the rear turbo and run new Pipe. expensive

  • "Well even thats almost double stock power, but over here in Oz" You May "Double" the stock power but you also add nearly 200 pounds of dead weight overall to the car. and due to the size and dimensions of an RB26 you push a lot of that weight forward making the car very nose heavy giving the car a nasty increase in under steer.

  • "(you can fit PS to a 240z btw)" The 240z was never designed with power steering in mind and if you ever wanted to do any kind of engine swap not an L series or even simple turbo upgrade the power steering gear would get right in the way. The S130 chassis was redesigned to accommodate both power steering and turbo's.

  • HELL NO!!!!!

  • Very nice much better and cleaner than the Rb26 swaps. Although as a matter of personal preference i must say im not really a fan of the blue anodized air horns on the cars

  • Thanks... I'm not a big fan of that either but to change them would cost around $150. If they had the size I wanted in silver, that would've looked heaps better.

  • thats totaly wicked man 5 stars from canada datsun enthusiests

  • WOW just WOW!! gotta love NA sounds so sexy. good job on the build.

  • Thanks for all the comments..

  • holly fuck thats sick!!!

where did u get ITBs for a rb25?

  • Throttle bodies are easily available, manifold had to be made! Thanks

  • Very nice job mate...

  • very cool

  • This is a beautiful piece of machinery you got there.

i am curious, around how much would it cost to get this engine with (lowish K's) into a 240Z.

    AUS $

  • Depends...from $2000 to $6000. If you want carbs or EFI turbo or non turbo etc.

  • ITB's nice, very unique

  • sex

  • OMFG, That is SOOOO nasty! It sounds like a meaner inline 6 transam. When are you gonna get it on the road so we can see how it does? PLEASE keep us up to date. Im currently in the middle of ITB for my turbo nissan 1990 240SX (180sx with ka24e motor in US) How hard was this to do? a friend of mine is trying to figure out how to swap a 45 with itb's in to his 240z. Anyway Beautiful swap nice and clean too. Love it.

  • Thanks for the comments.. I do have some vids of this going around some local tracks. Isnt the most powerful thing but it sure is smooth. Only managed 120Kw's at the wheels. Still with standard cams and exhaust manifold etc. The hardest part was making the triple Weber type inlet manifold; they do exist in Japan but haven't seen them for sale. Linkages were some fun too. I'm about to remove it all and go back to the L24 with EFI. This was just a thing I wanted to do.

  • Sounds brutal!! =)

  • Horney, just plain horney. I take it you are a Kiwi?

  • Thanks for the comment..hahaha.. Nope, born in Melbourne...but some of these conversions are happening in NZ as we speak; there are some evil zeds being assembled now..

  • porn!

  • uh, FAST!

  • thats one wicked car.......

  • You should make up more intake manifolds they'd sell well. I'd have one it sounds awsome mate

  • Where did you get the intake manifold from? Sounds awesome!

  • Had to make it myself.. They exist in Japan but try and get a hold of one...

  • beautiful. well except for that exhaust manifold lol

  • I know its ugly but it does the job! A nice set of Fujitsubo stainless headers or handmade ones should look great..Oh well...do you have some spare cash to loan? hehe

  • lol I wish I just had money lying around. I'm saving to get ITB's for my mustang. I've never seen one with them, but I know supra owners that go V8 like to install them on their 1UZ's.. I wonder why that is.

  • doug thorly longtube headder....thats all that my dad uses in his jap speed shop

  • Really really enjoyed that sound mate, makes me want to chuck one in my R31! love the ITBs.

  • what ITBs are those?

  • They are EFIHardware throttle bodies. Made in Mitcham by Steve Newing.

  • beautiful! ! ! stock cams and ignition???

  • i love it!!!! please put an exhaust on it so i can here the ITB's!!!! omg that thing must sound like sex.

  • Its complete now with an exhaust..I'll post another vid a bit later...Thanks

  • what kind of ECU are you running

  • A Wolf V500.

  • good job ..sounds sweet. what injectors are you using? standard?

  • Injectors are a small Bosch 250cc. Duty cycle is always around 60-70%

  • oops just seen this after sendin the email ...sorry!

  • that is the meanest sounding 25 ever! good job sir

  • wherd u get the throttle bodies from?! and how much?! and how hard were they to install?!

  • Throttle bodies are from EFI Hardware, about $450 each, easy to install but the manifold was a shit to make!

  • That is beautiful. Great work.

  • Sounds great mate!

  • Your neighbours must really like you when you start that up, Dimitri! :P

  • Yeah, each time I do, its payback! That was for the party they had last summer!
