@samuraijack18 it's hosted at the OCRemix just google it and it will take you to the side, just search Double Dragon remixes. While you look for it, enjoy the other Double Dragon music in there by fans.
The guy who made this used the boss from DD2 on the NES.
I've played this DD Extreme and it is pretty shitty. The guy who made it took out the kick button completely and there is just a jump, punch, and spin kick that drains your health. That means no elbow smashes or back kicks. Oh yeah, you can't pick up the weapons either so this game is pretty much fail. There are a lot cooler DD games that use the same OpenBOR engine.
always liked that music thats playing during the 1st part o the fight i think it was in double dragons 1 in the vs mode!? music at 2nd fights good too very nice!!!
This is cool but I always thought it was the wrong configureation. In the original, the boss can teleport in the first phase and is in the mystic sorta background the start of this video is in. In the second he can't and it's in the churchish looking place and when he's there he can't teleport. I think it would have been cooler and more challenging if it started in the churchish place, and then in his second phase he started the illusioning and teleporting.
@Zellig Or, it could be the fact that the shadow boss's powers are growing weaker as he receives damage from Billy Lee...thus reducing the shadow illusion he controls over the stage.
It is on OpenBOR you just have to register at lavalit dot com and you can download it. It is pretty simple to use. If you can work MAME you'll have no trouble.
The song in the second fight has the same feel as the Rocky themes. I miss the days where videogame music was unique and... good. Instead of the company hiring some random douche no one has heard about, that plays songs we have all heard before.
Its a sad ending, I prefer the nes ending where this "prophetic angel" comes back with Marion. Its not the cannon ending though, she gets shot, and as most people, she stays dead.
Once I heard about this I downloaded it for the Dreamcast. This is a fan made version of Double Dragon II (Best DD game ever created hands down, it's so perfect the other DD's don't even compare to it)
BTW, they actually gave this final boss a name in the GBA version of Double Dragon. Apparently his name is Raymond, which coincidentally my fathers name and my middle name.
I kind of just liked the original label of the Black Shadow Warrior Master...but Raymond is cool to. (LOL noooo not really)
All I can say is "WHAT THE??!!" I began playing the arcade game 20 years ago, and this is the first time I find out about this "extreme" version, was it released only in Japan or something??
The BOR series are all basically tribute games... they use sprites from Final Fight, Street Fighter Alpha, Double Dragon, Mortal Kombat, other capcom fighters, etc. Unfortunately they really lack in innovation... so once you play a few of them you'll get bored pretty quickly and I think go to the original games (which are all emulated anyway).
The gameplay is basically identical to Beats of Rage (the traps are I think the only "new" element added by the DDEx team; the ability to have 4 players was part of the original engine though the initial BOR was only 2 player)... a life draining super move button, a generic attack button and a jump button. Moves akin to Streets of Rage 2. DD 1&2 in the arcades on the other hand had weapons and punch/kick/jump. Very different feel.
DD Extreme is NOT a console game, nor it is an official PC or arcade game. It was created recently, using graphics and sounds pulled from Double Dragon 1 & 2 (arcade), and music and cut scene pictures from DD 2 NES... plus a few modified sprites and backgrounds for extra variety. The only way to get this game is to download it off the internet. The DC version you have to burn to a disc.
DD Extreme is a Beats of Rage Mod (BOR being a fan-made fighting game engine; a tribute to Streets of Rage; it uses sprites and sounds ripped from other games). It is in DOS, like Beats of Rage, and also ported to the Dreamcast.
So while DDE looks like Double Dragon arcade, it doesn't feel like double dragon arcade. There's only 2 buttons... there's an emphasis on combos and beating down a big cluster of enemies at once (repeat), and the AI acts very differently. There's even the life depleting special move. This was a great effort, and I love DD, but DDE leaves much to be desired. Though it's a free game, so what am I complaining about?
You'll have to google it. It's probably available on a torrent, Giggolo4hire. Look up double dragon extreme (or xtreme). It's not an emulation, it's a fan made game using the BOR (Beats of Rage) engine developed by SenileTeam.
DDE (or DDX as some call it) was released on PC (DOS/Windows) and was ported to the Dreamcast (as many BOR mods are). Anyway, it's pretty cool, but I much prefer the gameplay of the DD arcade games to BOR, because after awhile, BOR just feels really generic (same exact game with different. It's Streets of Rage 2 without the weapons, basically (I think it's possible to add them, but most programmers don't want to take the time).
DDE isn't an official game, ChronoRuffTrigger. It's a fan-made creation, using the "Beats of Rage" engine by SenileTeam (itself a fan game based loosely on the Streets of Rage series). The BOR mods use sprite and sound rips from other games, typically. DDE uses sprite rips mostly from the first two DD arcade games, but the cutscenes are stolen from DD2 for the NES, and some enemy sprites and backgrounds have been modified to resemble their counterparts in the NES version.
I like how this Beats of Rage mod took the arcade graphics and used them to closely re-create the final sequences of Double Dragon II on the NES (which of course was quite different than the Arcade version). If the actual gameplay was closer to the arcade double dragon games, I'd love it a lot more! As such I'm a little tired of the generic BOR gameplay...
Heh, Captain Planet (the character) was not invented until a year after DD2 came out on the NES (the arcade game was released in '88, but the NES version a year later was rather different). The final boss was an NES exclusive, and here, DDE has used a sprite of Williams from the arcade game and modified him to look like the NES boss.
thanks dude, but i couldnt find the first stage instrumental song of the final boss stage. i think the name is dead or alive, but in both versions i found there is a girl singing and it's just so annoying
I won't give any direct links as I have already told you where they are at. Final Fantasy shrine and then select Gabriel Hotel and go to the mp3 section.
of course it is man, Abraham Lincoln was well known by his mastery of martial arts and kicking the sense into his opponents, what do they teach to kids in school this days??
So Double Dragon Extreme is like a combination of the arcade and the NES versions of the classic Double Dragon 2, eh? Heh heh heh. Imagine if the Shadow Warrior was the final boss in the arcade. Wouldn't that be so much more fun?
Sorry, text limit. My point was just that these are modern games... nostalgic remakes using old game characters (sprite, sound rips, etc). Not that this isn't cool.
Most of the BOR games though feature only a handful of moves. The gameplay is all pretty much the same... a slightly dumbed down version of Streets of Rage or Final Fight.
Double Dragon Extreme, like a whole series of other games is a HOMEBREW title, using sprites ripped from other emulated games (like Double Dragon 2)... using a free modifiable engine called "Beats of Rage" (created by SenileTeam as a nostalgic tribute to Streets of Rage on the Genesis, using sprites taken from the King of Fighters games).
There's all kinds of BOR mods out there, starring Final Fight characters, DD characters, Street Fighter characters, MK characters, etc.
I know where they could or actually did download the soundtrack. Especially the final final boss part. I came across that thing in the NES DD2, and god damn it I was pleased when I heard that remake of it right here and there. Still searching for the original though.
This is actually a 'mod' for the game/engine, 'Beats of Rage'. Do a search for it. You might be surprised at the number of fan-made games available. :)
This game is probably on an emulator for a pc, known as a "rom". I've seen the arcade version adn it looks exactley like this. I remember beating that boss on the NES version.
