lol you're still int he US though. I have my plan to get out too, and fortunately I have the network and contacts now that I didn't have back when I was 18. so I just choose, and once I make the move, I know I will be able to get on my feet quite easily. and I've expatted it for three years sooo its not terribly difficult. Trust me outside of America things are different, that breath of fresh air is all you need to see things from a different perspective. Americans need to see it badly.
I'm glad you talk about the function of police. Their motives are not to protect individuals, as you highlighted, and as many people think. Cops are the janitors that show up after you've been murdered or rob and clean up and investigate; they are not your defenders or your savior. That is a cliché that cop shows trump up and which people have fallen for with few exceptions. If you call the cops and they don't show up to help you until you're a victim, they are not liable.
I think pan-secession would be a great place to start, but sea-steading and the Free State project are the only two means I see right now of effecting any sort of libertarian changes in society in a meaningful way, or at least for setting up some libertarian niche in the foreseeable future. As much as people fetishise secession from the British Empire in this country, they are vehemently anti-secession since they idolize Abraham Lincoln and everyone else who stomps down secession.
Perhaps if people allowed the sort of experimentation that radical political movements call for, we would be in a better position today. Maybe not. But if we never try, and if people who would gladly put their asses on the line to test their ideals are forcibly prevented from doing that so that the extant systems can keep that engorgement without having to surrender nary a morsel, we're going to be steamrolling ourselves off a cliff and good riddance.
i dont think thats it as in never again will it ever happen. but that will be it for at least a generation probably 2 or 3 before it could ever happen again. problem is how much more locked down will shit be by then.
OWS doesn't have an agenda because the tentacles of Neoliberalism are so deep it is hard to determine a plan to unwind the massive corruption that has brought us to where we are today. These tools include capital flight, currency manipulation, etc. Consider this: the 1% can defund and shutdown the US economy for years to stop any political progression. The 1% can also use massive propaganda to politicize the downturn. The key is that the 1% is concentrated and the 99% are scattered and divided.
Great vid, brother. This is what I've been saying all along. watch?v=jUyB6I6k8Ws And count yourself as lucky, as a convicted felon, not too many countries will let me visit much less move if the shit hits the fan, I GOT to be involved. XD or is it X,( either way, let's hope we can make a significant positive change, and thanks for the shout out in pt 1. Peace.
I think it would make for an interesting dialogue/discussion if you got into the specifics on what is happening in Society/Government/Banks. Go deep into the peasantry/aristocratic analogy, and if this movement can actually turn into something substantial along the lines of a serious revolution (i.e. Egypt, Greece)
I recommend you watch a youtuber by the name of Stefbot
I have to ask: If the powers that be are looking to squelch the protesters and break their spirits, and if they really did have a strong understanding of how to do so, then why would they be utilizing police force? It makes no sense. The more police brutality, the stronger people's convictions become and the more people who get angry and disgusted enough to wish to join them in protest. Completely ignoring them would cause them to fizzle out much faster.
@dawn0293 In fact I will go so far as to say, if it weren't for all the police hoopla in NYC, I'm betting the movement probably wouldn't have grown as large as it has.
@dawn0293 IMO, the people got organized so quickly we caught them by surprise. I suspect they will make some concessions in the near future and hope that pacifies us, the movement dies down, and then they start rolling shit back. Unless they figure out a way to make their concessions beneficial to them. Like he said, this has to be for the longhaul. The rest of our lives and then some, probably. Peace.
but seriously, yes, it doesn't look good, fascism looks like the most probabilistic next step in our cultural evolution, not necessarily the last step, though. we have to change the way we relate to each other as a society. our hierarchical structure will always generate such ridiculous institutions and exploitative social conditions. how to change that structure is the key struggle and subject of the next generation, probably. im out of ideas
canada isn't that far away from you, although winter is worse ;). once global warming kicks in we can all go colonise antarctica and let the rest of the nutters burn. or turn into zombies.
Great as usual.

I love your discussions. Do them more often, you're brilliant at political discourse.
Have you seen the Dadland channel? It's pretty cool.
