I walked in, took one look at the father, and realized that there were no words I could say that wouldn't be empty, trite, and cheap. I turned on my heel and walked out of there, utterly convinced that I would never be able to be worthy of that mans pain. I am thankful every day for people like you.
I was a Marine once too...but honestly, you can stop fighting now. There was never a purpose for being in Iraq. I was in the Corps just after the first Iraq war and I made it clear I would not go unless there was a real purpose. So far, I have yet to see one. So as a civilian paying YOUR salary with my hefty tax dollars, I ask that ALL service member think for themselves and think about what's right and whats wrong, even if it goes against following orders.

I am not an American, but I am always so amazed and impressed by the way in which the country pulls together in times of need - totally inspirational.
I was in America a few months ago, almost every house and business fly the flag outside, true patriotism - maybe us Brits could learn something here

my boyfriends bestfriend had died in the war. everytime he hears these sad songs like this he cries it tears him apart. and its unusual to see a guy cry. but hey when u loose sum1 close to u, all u can do is cry and let it all out. when im with him i lay my head on his shoulder and cry with him to comfort him. i ffel for these soldiers and their familes. thank you for serving our country <3

14 people really hate this country and i give my thanks to my grandfather who served in the phillipines, my other gradfather who served in vietnam my step grandfather who served in korea, and my uncle who served in iraq and returned a couple years ago. My house is filled with so many war goods it looks like a muesum.

@MrFriendtoall A few years ago a kid from our town was killed in Iraq. I felt that the least I could do would be to go to the wake and give my condolences to the family. I walked in, took one look at the father, and realized that there were no words I could say that wouldn't be empty, trite, and cheap. I turned on my heel and walked out of there, utterly convinced that I would never be able to be worthy of that mans pain. I am thankful every day for people like you.

I was a Marine once too...but honestly, you can stop fighting now. There was never a purpose for being in Iraq. I was in the Corps just after the first Iraq war and I made it clear I would not go unless there was a real purpose. So far, I have yet to see one. So as a civilian paying YOUR salary with my hefty tax dollars, I ask that ALL service member think for themselves and think about what's right and whats wrong, even if it goes against following orders.

I'm a scot just browsing and came across this. Although I have no connection with the military. Both my grandfathers served with the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in North Africa WWII. Amazing grace on the pipes always raises the hairs on the back of my neck.

I am 54 years old and I still treasure the flag that draped my father coffin I was 18 when he was killed. Not a day passes I don't think of him. I only hope I am half the man he was. God bless our fallen.
