@SpartanV15 The origional game is good, and I have only played two expansions. The first being Napoleons Ambition- which is fucking brilliant. Then I got my new computer and bought all of them, so I'm playing at the most recent Divine Wind. DW makes the interface and graphics SOOOOOO much better, as well as adding a lot of good new aspects.
i swear i thought the total war series were the absolute best u could get and then i got this and WOW - its BRILLIANT. Rome Total War will always remain my favourite but Europa Universaliss III is definetly my second favourite - its a brilliant game and i especially love the ability to colonize islands and different parts of the world. And i mean COME ON! The map spans the whole World!
I sort of miss the little fantasy option, as was included in thhe first version of EU. Back then, I owned nearly all of south America, using the Irish! ( Which, is what would have happened, if the Irish never had their drink ) ;)

total war games i like way more. takes for ever for a fight and you need points in this to even go to war. i dont understand why thay try and draw the game out so much and it seems like you get a smack on the hand everytime you want to fight.point is it takes forever to get to the fun stuff and by then you look at your land and say wow this game is kinda gay.

That is not only fun but really hard. i don't think this game is really well maid but sloppy, I have played the game and its soooooo slow , i can go to the beach and come back to the game and nothing will be happening. I hate how they add the giant models of soldiers right over the map. They look stupid, and I'd rather have just tiny dots or something like a cutscene
Lmao but agree on the awesome accent, Ive bern so stuck on wow and eq that i didnt realize this game was out, i was a RoftK fan from koei games, this is way more advanced. Waiting for my copy in the mail, starting late but better than never.
the only problem i have is that its not turn based as thats something i enjoy in strategy games although i may well get this as i enjoy that it includes so much of the world and its very customisable.
Here's to Call of Duty, Sims, KOTOR, Mass Effect (!!!), EU3, and Lego: Star Wars... GTA IV and Dead Space.. Dragon Age and The Wtcher... Zoo Tycoon and ACII. Seriously, it's very narrow and limiting to only immerse in RTS, RPG, FPS... etc. Then again, I can't really talk. I dont do sports or MMO's.... :)
@anotherdogearedpage A poor man's Medieval II??? Medieval II is quite antiquated. It's definetly a poor man's Empire... and even that game isn't at the top rung. I love the Total War series, but Europa is immersive, challenging, and rewarding if you bother to overcome the learning curve.

@MustNotRead Not to isolated myself here but i am a massive paradox fan i like all there games from EU to Hearts of Iron but i also happen to enjoy Halo it just provides some balance to my gameplay. So you two need to just relax and agree that you both enjoy the same game.

@MustNotRead The AI in UEIII is a bit crap, but if you've got the expansions packs, Napoleons ambition and In nomine then the AI is much better, as well as a few other adition (That may be covered in this video, not watched it yet)
EU 3 should have a total war like fight system. The dice system sucks ass because you can outnumber an army 2 to 1 and have all the terrain advantages and still lose. Then the computer starts recruting mercs like theres no tomarrow and starts sending them in unlimited waves at you
@neso941 It really isn't. Trust me, I tjought it would be, but when I got it and installed it I had a BLAST. I literally lost 2 days becasuse I was too into the game. : ) It's like you're actually playing an empire. : )
HOI2 is a war game, first and foremost. EU3 focuses more on the domestic sides of things. Victoria is maybe the opposite of HOI with EU being the compromise.

@Stoner2109 Well HoI2 is just like EU3 but more complex, which some like and others dont.
I for one prefere the more easy-going EU3 then the brain killing HoI2 that demand you to know so much about all units, not to mention the pain it is to try fix a good economy with a country that is not a major one.
But again, a matter of taste.
The fact you also like Total War means your flexible when it comes to map strategy games, so i would say Yes, you would most likely enjoy EU3.

Even though Europa Universails is great, especially when it comes to the huge variety of diplomatic options, i must say i'm rather dissapointed of how simplified the warfare system is. Basically u just tell an army to attack and then wait.
Yea but rom total war has way less provinces, abd the games are not as long and so on, plus rome tw is centered more around fighting the battles and what not. where as this game is much bigger, cause diplomacy and what not are a big part of it :)
I personally like EU III more than Rome, I don't have vae victis though. But Rome just has so few factions, small map compared to this game. But civil wars and armies allegiance to generals were a nice addition tough.
tecniclly u can take provences with no armys in them but they have to not have a fort there best places personally my fav is in the amaericas where all of the colonised places have no walls and u can walk into them and tkae them over better still u can steal the colony instantly without annexing it from the war score :))))
pretty good review , the game does look interesting im not exactly a graphics whore or anything , but main thing that doesnt bode so well with me by these kinds of games is the lack in action though , while i have no doubt its probably fun but the action ....ehh i just wish developers would put in movies to watch and see how the battles unfold , as in that it has everything from what troops are present to the enviroment....at some point it was hard to hear over the music , but still good review

you can put the game in 3D...thats the political map mode but the terrain map mode has mountains and rivers etc all in 3D...

It's HoI2 gameplay with more diplomacy and economy in a Empire:Total War setting (except you can also choose ANY nation in the world at ANY time)

nope, total war games suck balls. AI is braindead and alot of the features were so badly implemented that they dont even work.

Even though Europa Universails is great, especially when it comes to the huge variety of diplomatic options, i must say i'm rather dissapointed of how simplified the warfare system is. Basically u just tell an army to attack and then wait.
Hearts of Iron was a lot better there!

Yea but rom total war has way less provinces, abd the games are not as long and so on, plus rome tw is centered more around fighting the battles and what not. where as this game is much bigger, cause diplomacy and what not are a big part of it :)

I personally like EU III more than Rome, I don't have vae victis though. But Rome just has so few factions, small map compared to this game. But civil wars and armies allegiance to generals were a nice addition tough.

Yeah it's sometimes annoying when you totally pwned your opponent that you can only take 4-5-6 provinces :(
Well then again if u get pwned yourself, it's not game over.

tecniclly u can take provences with no armys in them but they have to not have a fort there best places personally my fav is in the amaericas where all of the colonised places have no walls and u can walk into them and tkae them over better still u can steal the colony instantly without annexing it from the war score :))))

pretty good review , the game does look interesting im not exactly a graphics whore or anything , but main thing that doesnt bode so well with me by these kinds of games is the lack in action though , while i have no doubt its probably fun but the action ....ehh i just wish developers would put in movies to watch and see how the battles unfold , as in that it has everything from what troops are present to the enviroment....at some point it was hard to hear over the music , but still good review
