  • Really, it was a technical oversight. The plane was converted to Turbines and the gust control was interlocked to the original piston engine linkage. It was never removed during the conversion. The manual gust lock was removed as usual but the throttle interlock was not. That was a test flight. If you think this is bad, you should study C-130 crashes. All kinds of fatal crashes involving the failure of a minuscule part at the worst possible time. Usually, parts of the control linkages.
  • @jetpoweredgriffin ok, sorry,

  • @sardestrella

    No problem...

but I think you meant that for prosperomage.

    Still,

I appreciate that you responded that way.

Too many people on YouTube(and elsewhere!)are just so rude even when they're the one at fault.

    Peace,

    -g

  • fake

  • what the fuck did this guy not know how to use his slats and flaps?

  • Hey pilot! Next time take some flying lessons, retard

  • @amishmike1 -- It was a mechanical failure.

    Idiot.

  • @prosperomage this video is fake, idiot

  • @sardestrella -- No. This is real.

Get out of your bed room and off your computer games once in a while. There's a thing outside which normal people often refer to as "the real world." It's a place where actual accidents happen with actual test flights and real people really die.

No. Wait. Maybe you couldn't handle such a thing as the real world.

You might as well go back to your games.

(I've worked in the aerospace industry for longer than you're been alive if your profile is correct)

  • I've seen so many crashes exactly the same, big plane, impossible maneuver with very low altitude, If anyone can answer, what were the pilots thinking? they must had some kind of an illusion!

  • FAKE

  • I cannot.....believe it......it's all over. TOO FUNNY.....LMAO

  • Fake video of a real crash.

  • hey camera man, why dont u do something instead of saying its all ovr

    dumbass

  • what a really stupid and dumb camera man.

  • What a shame, that Gimli was the site where 69 passengers were saved by the heroic actions taken by the crew of AC143 almost nine years earlier. Clearly, these widely separated incidents involved pilots of widely separated quality.

  • i KNEW it! Before reading any of the comments.. that this fool had NO elevator control!

  • WOW cameraman, you could have at least stopped to call the police or gone over to help, I mean I know they all died but still you could've done something else besides film it and state how "it's all over"

  • :'''( whyyy

  • i know i clicked i like but really how awefull to have witnessed

  • nice landing!

  • I can't even imagine the terror that pilot went through... sad, RIP...

  • Looks like an RC plane

  • dont drink and fly

  • Gimli, the same place where a Boeing 767-200 ran out of fuel and landed safely.

  • nice looping

  • the pilot need the key to unlocked the elevator :))

  • @tangqulan SO did you have a hard time copying that from the first comment up top?

  • this is the airport where the air canada 767 landed with out any fuel , right?

  • so fake

  • What I cannot believe is the camera man just stands there and is like "I cannot believe it... Oh well.... whats next.... lunch anyone?"

  • @jsnmrkDOTcom Apparently it was the cameramans son flying it, he was so shocked he didn't know what to say.

  • camera man is lucky the plane didnt roll the other way

  • why did you quit filming at 0:19?

  • it's a test

  • What a retarded pilot, a plane like that isn't build to do that manouvres, really fucking stupid pilot error

  • @Lucasdeboer Na you wrong that accident was maybe for the slats or stabilizar config. No for the pilot error lol. FIrst learn aviation and then u can say stupids coments.

  • it's one of those moments in your life wherein you just witnessed death but can't seem to grasp the horror of it.

  • oh shit thats bad !! :O

  • canadians cant fly for shit

  • poor bastards. RIP

  • fucking retarded pilot

  • fake

  • Welp. . .

  • omg that is so horrific! Very sad.

  • faaaaaaaaaaake

  • @jabetosierra Then show us a real one.

  • Oh shit I feel sorry for those who passed away

  • If the elevators were locked how did they get the nose up so high and so fast? If this is real who was filming? And if this is a bullshit version of the real crash you should have your nuts cut off.

  • @madisonelectronic it s real mate, sadly

  • @madisonelectronic Maybe the elevator was locked in the "up" position......ya think??

  • @madisonelectronic - The nose got up so high and so fast - BECAUSE THE ELEVATORS WERE LOCKED AND THE PILOT COULDN'T PUSH THEM DOWN. What's so hard to understand?

  • @JBofBrisbane If the trim is set (and only an idiot would try flyng if they could not set the trim in preflight) your nose will not rise like that unless you deliberately rotate. And if you check the weather that day it was CAVU (ceiling and visibility unlimited). I see lots of clouds.

  • @madisonelectronic Yes it's "real". In 1992 handheld VCRs - even some expensive ones were not very high quality especially with a cheap tape. This version could be a 3rd or even 4th generation knock-off of the original so yeah it's terribly grainy, but it's obviously real footage.

The filmer was so shocked at what he saw (cognitive dissonance) he simply lost control of the camera for a split second as he was probably was "ducking for cover" - human nature. But the isn't spliced or 'doctored'.

  • @madisonelectronic i think he meant the trim was set too high

  • @madisonelectronic i think he also meant the elevators were locked in a nose up position. it's not that unimaginable

  • @madisonelectronic You know what shut up and get a life! Who fusses that this is fake when the creator only said take off gone wrong, not this is real. Just watch the damn video and shut your ungrateful ass up!

  • @madisonelectronic The elevators got locked in the up position dumbass. It is a real crash, and you obviously are too much of a noob to the world to have ever seen magnetic tape.

  • The elevators on the tail were strapped down. Sad.

  • Comment removed

  • why would you pull up so high so early???

  • @Jakex09 Check the highest rated comment. They probably wondered what was happening themselves. My god, what an awful accident.

  • WHY WOULD HE MAKE THE INCLINE SO MUCH???? WHAT AN IDIOT!!!! well, he sure did pay for it.

  • @imapieface do your research mate. it was a failure in preflight checks that caused a locked elevator ... it was an accident not stupidity

  • which aircraft type is it ?

  • i can nat ........believe it!!

  • camera man was happy it didnt turn left..

  • @Alltimeboxing HAHA ^^

  • did he died?

  • Comment removed

  • It's just sad.

  • Doop, deee, doooop, deeee, dooooo (the plane rolls on the runway then lifts off! "Hey Ralph what does this lever do, crank" Uhhh Joe that is the abort lever now we are screwed. Prepare to meet your maker Joe! Uhh sorry Ralph, uhhh!

  • airtalk.org/accident-on-8-27-92-vt28935.html

  • Its totally fake. The fire is too orange.

  • stall

  • Amazing and spectacular clip there. Calm cam man.

  • "I cannot believe it." .... I can. It almost looked like he intentionally stalled the aircraft to commit suicide. I'm not a pilot but even I know that he stalled the plane... not enough speed for that kind of maneuver.

  • To those of you who think this is fake: If you really think it's fake, YOU'RE WRONG. And I can prove it. Google FAA Accidents" and search the date on the video: August 27, 1992. The crash is listed there on the FAA's website and has all the information about the plane, the airport, the victems and why the plane crashed.

  • I think trim in up position...

  • +++Note+++

The elevator is in the up position.

  • This is the fakest shit I've ever seen. Get a clue already.

  • @84velo - Uh, you're wrong. It's not fake and I can prove it. Google "FAA Accidents" and search the date of this video: August 27, 1992 on the FAA's website. The crash is listed there and has all the information about the plane, the airport, the victems, why the plane crashed and more. (Be sure and write back to tell everyone you were wrong. ;)

  • @84velo and death is fake too am I correct about that?

  • Comment removed

  • it's cerium?

  • RIP.. terrible accident, i heard about this some months ago. control locks for elevator not removed before take off causing the high rate of climb followed by the stall turn & crash. once it had stalled nothing could save them from such a low altitude.

  • The control locks for the elevator were not removed before flight. Always do your pre-flight checks EACH and EVERY time before flight; mundane, routine and boring as you might think they are. Oopsie.

  • @ThatMiserableCat The quadrant had been changed because this aircraft had just been converted to turboprop.

  • @jizzmonger PT6's. Indeed. Great aircraft, an awful tragedy :( I had it on advisement that the elevator control chocks (or locks) were not removed before flight. Judging from the video *gasp* it sure looks like elevator up>plane goes up>elevator stuck in up> plane begins stall> wing loses lift> stall> roll>game over. What a nightmare! I can't stress enough the importance to always, always do a thorough preflight each and every time. Eek!

    Happy flying,

    Fluffy

  • @ThatCat They did remove the gust locks. During the conversion to Turbines, the technicians/engineers never removed the interlocks to the original throttle linkages to the piston engines. They apparently bound up underway. Most people only repeat the superficial explanation which would indicate that they didn't remove the standard gust locks. Of course, unlike most people on Youtube, I could be wrong,anyway.... I have researched this and the more detailed info re-affirms this, though.
  • @ThatMiserableCat I figured it was either that or an autopilot error.

  • @ThatMiserableCat What a lame reason to die.

  • @ThatMiserableCat SO THIS COULDVE BEEN AVOIDED,WHOA!! SOMETIMES PEOPLE SAY IT WAS THIER TIME,BUT I BELIEVE YOU CAN RUSH DEATH,BY SIMPLE MISTAKES LIKE THIS.GOD BLESS!!

  • @ThatMiserableCat it wasn't to do with that at all xD it was the weight ratio inside , this crash was on Air Crash Investigation :)

  • @fly4fun123 Was it? What episode? Was it the one with the lady pilot? Actually no, that one crashed into the hangers. Whats this one then??? RIP

  • ??????????

  • Anyone who would die from that is a pussy.

  • I knew the pilot.

  • de Havilland Canada DHC-4T Caribou

    Crew:3 Fatalities: 3

Departure airport: Gimli Airport, MB (YGM/GYGM), Canada

The aircraft took off for a test flight for a turbine-engine conversion programme. It climbed steeply, rolled to the right and crashed in a nose-down, rightwing-low attitude.

  • @goodspeed777 " It climbed steeply, rolled to the right and crashed in a nose-down, rightwing-low attitude."

Well thanks for that we wouldn't have been able to see that for ourselves eh???

  • @goodspeed777 - Good for you. You're the only other person besides me who thought to look up the accident on the FAA's website. And there are still people saying this crash was faked. Not that it'll harm anyone. I doubt the kids father who is in the vid comes on Youtube...

  • @goodspeed777 Thanks for the play-by-play. Never would have figured it out.

  • @goodspeed777 WTF are you???

  • probably lost power in the right engine,...this is how a plane reacts with a right roll.

  • his flaps were up.

  • fake and gay

  • @graysamu213 You deserve a slap to the face boy...STFU!

  • @graysamu213 It is disconcerting how hard it can be these days to tell diff between real and fake. This one looks fake in a few ways but in fact is a real crash with real fatalities. Be careful before you sound off.

  • @bfgray no its fake i looked it up it never happened

  • @graysamu213 then you did some shitty research. This did happen.

  • Where was this at?

  • did someone screw around with his trim tab and left it in the all the way up position? Does anyone know what the hell caoused this?

  • @plsniper The pilot took off with the gust locks on.

  • @gregbails4 shit, so much for the walk around before taxiing and the run up while taxiing to the runway...thanks for the info greg.

  • @gregbails4 not a problem, i saw this video and just had to research the cause.

  • It looks as if the idiot forgot to take the pins out of the control surfaces which keep the wind from banging them back and forth resulting in damage

  • Man, it is scary to see so many dimwitted posts by so many dimwitted 12 year olds who will grow up to be - yes, thats right! - dimwitted adults... this accident happened - read the report.

  • its the date today !

  • R.I.P.

  • why would you try banking so much so soon after take-off?

  • We were shown this video in USAF flight training. It was shown to teach us the important use of checklists and the potentially fatal consequences if you don't. This crash was in fact due to the control lock being left in. They found pieces of it in the pilots' wrist from trying to remove it. In addition - not sure if this is true or not but our instructor told us that the father of the co-pilot was filming this. Can you imagine??

  • This video is no fake. And the "everyone makes mistakes" comment. That was NOT pilot error. For a pilot to cause that he'd have to be a WWII kamikaze pilot. That was a failure in the aircraft's design.

  • I CAN-NOT BELEIVE-IT. ....it's all over. wow.

  • No fake I thing, It seams that the gust locks were still installed. Date: 27 AUG 1992 Time: 10:20 Type: de Havilland Canada DHC-4T Caribou Operator: NewCal Aviation Registration: N400NC Msn / C/n: 240 Year built: 1965 Crew: 3 fatalities / 3 on board Location: Gimli, MB (Canada)
  • THis is fake stop at sec 9 & its look like a resident evil dengration plane

  • @charliecharlie31 nerd stfu, it is real.

  • Stop at 0:09 and you can tell that isent a real airplain its graphics is fake and it loks like a plane out of a good manga plane

  • @charliecharlie31 your grammer is fake. that camera is from 1992, everything looks fake in a camera like that. that was a legit plane crash.

AND WHAT THE HELL DO YOU CARE IF IT'S FAKE!!! if it is,(which it's not) that's some badass rendering.

  • @charliecharlie31 You'd think it fake. But Google 8/27/1992 aircraft crashes and you can read about it.

  • it's real

  • how does it go so suddenly when it dives to the ground to the blazing fire?

  • @TheLegobrick12 The cam man turned off then restarted his cam.

  • FAKE, in aug 27 1992., only plane chash, Aeroflot Tupolev TU-134A 84:84 Ivanovo, Russia SSSR-65058, this video is FAKE, FAKE,,,,

  • lol2 ? XD

  • I think the aircraft looks fake too,,,,but it also looks real? Strange.

  • @Rob187ok I agree. 0_o

  • It is real. People should research before calling stuff fake. Simply putting in the date on the camera and 'plane crash' into your favourite search engine, will give you all the info you need.

  • Guys, you can tell it is fake by the way the pilot doesn't eject.

  • @LCPStud You cant eject from a large plane like this- only small fighter jets

  • @phunguy123

Space shuttle had ejection seats for awhile.

  • @LCPStud generally- happy?

  • @LCPStud Surely your joking. hehehehe. When's the last time you saw anyone eject from a passenger plane?

  • So fake. You would be screaming a panicing. And you obviously changes the seen when the plane hit the ground.

  • i checked my trim setting before bed

  • and second...you are not aloud in any circumstances to stay so close to the runway ..... or at the runway at all during landing or a take off!

  • This is FAKE 100 % you can hear the engines after the crash for a sec or 2 and check the cut at 20 sec...so guys...sorry to inform you .....ITS FAKE!

  • LOL, wow, have you ever attended a school? You hear the engine sound after the crash because the speed of sound is no where close to the speed of light. BTW it is real.

  • Comment removed

  • @phunguy123 - and you are a homo...."You cant eject from a large plane like this- only small fighter jets " only smaller fighter jets? and not regular size? who is stupid now you Fucking retard!!!!!!

  • @patrictheking sorry i didnt write that you were stupid my sister did while she was on my account

  • @patrictheking im sorry my wording was funny-i guess you dont make any mistakes

  • @phunguy123 - Dont worry , everybody makes misstakes...and i like your school project by the way =)...good job!

  • @patrictheking You would think it fake for the reasons you said. But it's REAL!!! One must be careful or look like a fool no?

  • This is real. The pilots forgot to check the trim settings on the plane prior to T.O.

  • lol i knew it was a fake went he didnt run and said "i cannot.. believe it."

  • its a fake, but if its real its realy unlikely the pilot would pull up into a stall

    on takeoff

  • @NewsUpdate2day it`s not fake. You should see some fake vids before posting comments like this.

  • HOLY SHIT!!! if i was on dat plane i wud absolute shit myself wen it jus went straight up

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry guys it's a fake.

  • sorry guys thebukakemaster is an idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • Holy crap thats scary... Expecalliy being that close?

  • Comment removed

  • stupid stupid stupid!!

  • That is why you always check the control surfaces before going onto the runway,, over 85% of aviation crashes are caused by pilot error.

  • Elevator control locks were still in from what recall reading in the investigation.

  • @Beliant what does that mean?

  • someone know what happens there? maybe problem with the stabilator?

  • i like how the cameraman didnt seem concerned at all does anyone know what happened because that is very odd way to go down he had to have a heart attack or something because or airplane malfunction because he would to have been pulling back hard on the contols

  • HOLY SHIT!

"it`s all over" - very sad....

  • If this is real then it's pretty damn scary. it's horrific enough as it is but I honestly had a dream where a plane took off and immediately crashed exactly like in this vid, hence why I looked it up on here :S

My heart goes out to anyone involved and their families.

  • wow it looks soo fake but some ppl say its real...damn 50/50

  • maybe a human error. i know its real how sad all on board died instantly..
