  • unreal, its time for all countries to realise that nuclear energy will destroy our planet and everyone born to live on it ...this is the end of the road ! Provide each home woth wind and solar oh i forgot in doing that gov wont be making money on its sale and selling uranium to make amunition! bunch of psychopath!

  • ... And now Lake Anna in Louisa Virginia ! Built ON TOP of a fault and one of the four diesel generator went down for coolant failures. And the dam creating the coolant pond is rated D- by the US Corps of Engineers. Oh, and we just had an earthquake as strong as the maximum rating for the plant as well a hurricane AND that's with the equipment approaching its max lifespan! Radiation makes concrete and metal brittle ... and its on a ... faultline. Don't buy any real estate in Va !

  • DO NOT EAT FROM THE OCEANS OR DIE

  • IF THEY HAD BUILT HYDROGEN PLANTS WE WOULD NOT BE FACING THIS DEATH SENTENCE

  • Wanna know what Earth will look like in 50 years because of Fukushima? Play the video game FALLOUT 3!!!!

  • ... I'd take 1000 new nuclear power plants over 1 fossil fuel plant. I am more worried by the AGE of our nuclear power plants than any natural disaster. Most of our reactors are nearing 40years old. Considering the US gluttonous need for electricity I find this the most terrifying thing about nuclear technology.

  • Relax, it's going just fine!!! Dah!!!

  • OK so coming from an Engineering student; nuclear is very safe in 99% of cases. It is their POTENTIAL devastation that is getting people worried, as well as the containment of their waste. However, if you look at waste, the nuclear industry is much more efficient and less damaging to the actual environment than coal.

People calling for the closure of nuclear plants really don't understand how their power grids work and that we will be switching to coal if they all close.

  • cont... I have actually done work for solar and wind power companies and even they recognize that nuclear is currently necessary until other technologies can improve enough to pick up the slack. And nuclear safety is always improving due to it's potential for disasters.

I recommend looking into the percentages of power supplied in your region or country and you'll probably see nuclear power takes up a very large chunk of it. Green tech isn't enough to replace it, so coal would be used...

  • Great report and glad to finally see someone stating the obvious, that this new highest-reading yet must be from something new happening.

Unit 1 stack has had testing being done all around it for months. If this suddenly discovered radiation was residual from the March-12th blast, it would have been discovered months ago. I suspect something new is happening in or under Unit 1's primary containment.

  • WARNING Legal radiation limit for Children in Japan and Belarus: 20 millisievert per year - that's an equivalent of 50 mammograms. FOR CHILDERN!!! 2000 PERCENT INCREASE! Fukushima doubled background radiation - the IAEA calls this NATURAL! Unforgiveable! This is validated by the ICRP! And the UNSCEAR and the WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION - search for "Contract WHA 12-40 1959"

  • Nuclear Energy is actually the cheapest per KWh.

  • @Prometheukles im pretty sure there is more KW/h coming from the sun...lets go solar

  • @Prometheukles Tell that to people of Fukushima prefecture. It is so easy to ignore effects of fallout or to ignore cost of nuclear waste storage. Out of site out of mind...

  • @Prometheukles And human beings are cheap, too. Real cheap. Why don't you go help? See how cheap it is for you.

  • This is the first relevant and productive segment I've seen on Thom's show in a while.

  • 311 the World woke up and decided NO NUKES NO FLUKES We ask for the END OF THE NUCLEAR NIGHTMARE ON EARTH. We DEMAND THE END OF TOXIC POWER SYSTEMS ON EARTH. Let us BAN HYDRO FRACKING IN AMERICA as this POISONS MILLIONS OF GALLONS OF WATER Let us DEMAND THE END OF THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL CORPORATE COMPLEX NOW. Let us DEMAND THE END OF ENDLESS WARS ON HUMANKIND Let us DEVELOP IN UNITY the Energy of SOLAR, MAGNETIC, WIND TURBINE,GEO THERMAL&HYDRO KINETIC 4 ALL POWER

  • @OnenessNow Stop fucking posting this. I dont even fucking know what it means. Caps lock doesn't help friend. Go fuck yourself.

  • @Drew1749 Relax yourself and be of PEACE. We intend to be 100% Renewable Energy in your lifetime FRIEND

  • @OnenessNow You must be tripping on some good stuff. Caps lock doesn't help. Explain what your spam is for me. I don't understand it.

  • @OnenessNow Beautiful!

  • @OnenessNow Sounds good, but what good are all these demands when it will not budge the decision makers one bit? Those in control clearly aren't taking the decisive action needed--as usual, petty politics, special interests and plain old cheapness always get in the way. Penny wise, pound oh-so-foolish. The art of spin has evolved to such a level that ordinary people really have no way to know whom to believe.

  • @Coaljet The decisive action needed is for people to boycott the power companies building nuclear power stations e.g. EDF here in Europe... if they stop making money they'll have to rethink their policies or go broke! Don't wait for politicians to sort it out...
