As a kid it actually did the opposite. It taught me how to be creative, learned me more history than school, taught me english, german and japanese and my motoric skills improved which were terrible back then to the point were my doctors didn't know what to do either.

But as a teen/grown up. I guess you can say gaming is a waste of time but only if it really damages your life. I already have my future guaranteed, got a job and i go to college at the age of 16 so its not holding my time back.

@gamereviewsss For sake of discussion, there are many people on this site that consistently spend 30 to 40 hours a week playing games. Do you feel that there is a point where the person is simply playing too much and actually wasting time, or does that simply not exist? I only ask this because unlike a lot of hobbies, most games don't really give you a return in any way that is not masturbatory.

@gamereviewsss It's probably best that you prefer handhelds then. Odds are you won't spend much time at home/dorm/apartment. I'd also recommend sticking to older titles and free games. When I was still full time I spent around $1500-$3000 on supplies and prints a semester.
