I am from HK. I do use "lee D". "nay D", "lay D" and "leeD" are all used in daily conversation. I think it's just habit.

Seriously, I don't think it's polite to refer westerners as "Kwai Lo" in teaching. You may do that in private conversation, but put it in teaching and then youtube is just too much. I don't think I'll like hearing somebody call us "chinks" or "chinamen" in youtube.
