  • I'm confused. When he is talking about the sharp note, is he talking about the actual released studio version, or the version that is in the ending of the film?

  • Great story! Thanks for Sharing Kirk!

  • Antídoto para Justin Bieber...

  • does anyone know where the original recording is? the one Kirk is referring to

  • @Torradadd That's the official song itself, that's what he just said. It was a straight rough cut.

  • Absolute genius

  • oh, man.. he's so damn good.. really good.. ♥

  • whitney is probably the only bitch i know who has the luxuary of singing live in a movie, who does that?

these two made a GREAT song

  • kewl!

  • lol. David you should get a studio band and also get a singer. Love Whitney! Props to er for her loyalty to her band and props to Clive for sticking with her.

  • very informative

  • He is awesome, but I still think that this piece will sound better with a tenor saxophone. I just think that a soprano is too high.

  • Kirk you are the Best ! What a warm sense of melody. Your style is sooooo Hip !

Thanks Brother ....Doug G. in LV

  • what are you guys talking about? Kirk Whalem is an excellent speaker. and that information he gave us was vital and rare. I enjoyed the story more than his playing. not taking away from his playing which was awesome. the one and only Kirk Whalem.

  • Kirk Whalum & Jehovah's Boy Praise & Worship Concert on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at First Assembly of God, 8150 Oliver Road, Erie, PA at 6 pm. For tickets call Sundance Records & Tapes- 814-454-3848 / Beacon Books- 814-868-3203

  • his words were as appropriate as his notes. God bless him.

  • dont talk,play sax.

  • Love you, Kirk!

  • bRIGHT or dark tone mainly come from the concept of a saxophonist. If he doesn't like so bright tone,it really doesn't matter. So David Sanborn, Paul Desmond are great in different aspects in terms of tone quality but still sound excellent.

  • bla bla bla...ok? just play

  • KIRK FOREVER

  • All day Kirk.

  • After watching this vid, I am wondering how he has such a unique sound on soprano. I know everybody has a unique tone, but they tend have that oboe sound. Unlike most soprano saxophonist he doesn't have much of a bright (oboe sound) on soprano.

  • He's playing in the low notes on the soprano sax, which gives it a rather dull tone.

  • This man is not only a great sax player, but a wonderful man of GOD who has such love in him. Check out his website where he reads the Bible every day.

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!

  • I _really_ like hearing his back story at the beginning here. For those of us with no professional experience, it's very enlightening.

  • I saw a lesson clip from Cannonbal sax with him and he impressed me a lot as he could be a great teacher.

  • kirk is one of the greatest on the sax i love your jazz God bless you

  • I love this song. It still makes me cry and I love that movie too!! God bless you Kirk.

I forgot.....David Foster is a musical genius. GOD BLESS HIM TOO!!!!

  • ...great pitch..., always so touching!
