If this building method could scrape up some mainstream traction, it could honestly change the world.

Why isn't this being explored as a low-cost housing solution for the thousands who need it? It's not like they can't be built to code, and they're strong as hell when built properly. There are cob cottages in England that have been standing for 800 years, and superadobe has even more structural integrity than cob does.

I love these structures but It's pretty expensive to do a course with Calearth though. Even if I had the money I'm not sure the local councils around New Zealand would allow these buildings. Also, if we use so much earth, won't we have a huge hole? Maybe use it as a swimming pool! lol

These are the types of steps we as human beings should be taking. It is sad that we equate modernization and globalization with superiority when it is clear that the path we are on is unsustainable in the long run. We as a species were never meant to live as we are now; we are more like viruses taking from the Earth. If we just for one second took a lesson from the native american who taught of conservation and treating the Earth as a living being we wouldn't be worrying about our planets demise
