  • I live in Pontypool! Its a really nice town. Besides the zombie of course XD

  • That was one of the more intelligent reviews I’ve read in awhile. I’ll defiantly check this movie out, but can you tell me your feelings on Midnight Movie? It looks pretty interesting, but I don’t know what to expect from it.

  • Please explain the ending to me, I don't get it. :P

  • This is a good review, but i have to point out you give away one of the biggest spoilers within the first few seconds! xD

I thought this was a really good film, in my opinion its incredibly underrated.

It was by no means perfect, but there are some scenes that great an amazing sense of fear and dread and confusion only by hearing what people are saying.

  • Pontypool is the best zombie movie I've ver seen. Movies do not need lots of action to be good, and they nailed it perfectly! It is definately definately the most ORIGINAL zombie movie out there!

  • great movie , great movie , great movie , great movie , great movie , crap what the hell is going on with me

  • the movie is not bad .but is kind of boring , the whole idea of the movie is great, but to just watch a guy sitting on his ass for almost 80 minutes is kind of a let down,i think they could use little scenes like 15 to 30 seconds long in between the radio calls with the reporter to show you what is going on outside......but they did a find job with a low budget

  • whats interesting is that they live at the end....there is one more scene AFTER the credits all roll.

  • @bradford71us

Ya, that was...interesting. I'm not entirely sure what it meant but until I can figure it out I'm chalking it up to directorial strangeness. It's not terribly uncommon, have you seen "Southland Tales"? XD

  • @phantomsdaydreams its a film about LANGUAGE...

  • @bradford71us No shit, Sherlock. That comment was not meant at the movie as a whole. It was meant only at the after credits bit. Congrats on mis-reading.

  • @phantomsdaydreams Richard Kelly xD he has very very puzzling scripts. donnie darko is harder to interpret then southland xP

  • .Inventive and genuinely suspenseful..if you like this kind of movie you can watch it at

    EasyMediaClick (dot) com

  • A top class film.. no ifs maybes or but's..the book isnt really a book as far as book's go, its really the scripts for the three movie in the series and really should be approached that way There's another two movies to come..cant wait

  • Good review! I plan on buying it at my local FYE when it comes out.

  • Has anyone noticed just how many zombie movies have come out virtually all at the same time?

  • I have, and that seems interesting if you parallel that to the way the virus is spread in Pontypool. Repetition of a word in a movie that is presently a repetitious genre. An ironic coincidence.

  • Lol Perhaps even a coy sense of (intentional) humor?

  • An excellent review. The 'virus' is actually a meme, or at least meme in its original definition.

A meme (an actual meme and not internet memes) is a truly frightening concept. The concept is not a fanciful as it may seem, look up the term in an encyclopedia for a potentially chilling read.

I honestly cannot recomend this movie enough. Think I will be whoring this around for a while.

  • Anna Farris didn't play Laurel Ann. An actress named Georgina Reilly did. And Sydney, the boss, was played by Lisa Houle.

    Great review

  • Yes, I meant to annotate that at some point but never got around to it. =S Anyway, thanks for the comment. I appreciate the input.

  • Great review. I liked his cynical "seasonal affective disorder" comments. I'm from hot Texas, so I can't relate much, but I can only imagine how grey and icy the real Pontypool must be.

By the way, it has leaked online at this point, and there's even an shitty copy on Youtube.

  • Can't wait to see it. Do you know if it is already online? I'm not from canada or the usa, so I just hope that it will get to my film theathers in Chile.

  • Unfortunately, it has not leaked online. =S I've tried looking for it myself for screen caps and quotes but no such luck so far. Sadly, you might have to wait for a DVD, which, it being an independent movie, might take a while to come out. =( On a more positive note you are able to order the book off of a number of locations and a re-print is in stores to conicide with the movie's release SO if you're into the movie you might want to check out the book (though it is very different). =)
