I personally believe there was no specific reason for the panic, just too much people in such a small tunnel. they were pushed and pressured, and when it became too much & some of them couldn't breathe anymore they got paniced which led too even more pressure etc. only a chain reaction

How this could happen? Well, this festival area was only big enough to fit 250.000 people. There were 1.4 million... I attended Loveparade in 2002/2003 in Berlin. There was no festival area, no fences. Nothing like this ever happened there. It was the greed of gain of the organizers who let this happen. I mean, Rock am Ring is overcrowded with about 100.000 people attending. But 1.4 million? Seriously??? I could see this coming when I heard they wanted to turn LP into a festival...

I'm not being sarcastic but this isn't a horrible way to die. There is about a couple minutes of misery surrounded by loving people who are crushing you, unintentionally. After that there is a buzz in your ears just like being struck by a baseball bat. If you die in any other horrible way, like from people who are very negative and evil, then that would be horrible. I finally got a chance to ball up into a fetal position face down on the ground and I envision a 400-pound elephant on top of me. Tunnel filled to the brim with too many people, trying to move in the same direction at the same time, and soon thereafter, mass panic/chaos/death.
