If I am not wrong, Coco was born to cantonese parents originally from Hongkong who went to settle in USA. That is why she and her family speak cantonese as naturally as any other cantonese in HK. .

Cantonese is a dialect of the Chinese language. So is Mandarin, etc... Mandarin was a reduction of a lot of sounds from southeastern Chinese dialects. You would only categorize the dialects individually as a "language" and not a "dialect" IF you are NOT Chinese! Coco lee lived in Taiwan, but do you know Taiwanese speak other language diffirent with both Cantonese and Mandarin. THey are Minnanese(Hokkien)(70%) and Hakka(14%). Mandarin is only 14% but is official language of Taiwan now because policy of KMT.

Faye's voice is alright. But she lacks the body ( something like a sub-woofer ) and the dynamic range of the best out there. Try listen to Frances Yip, Jenny Tsang & Ruth Tsang & Sandy Lam.
