i read a biography on the internet and it says she started took classes at a conservatory 1999 and this album came out 1997 thats a pretty short time span so im pretty sure she took lessons before
Well, in terms of lyrics and composition, the sound they have here pretty much is Epica. Their sound evolved in a different direction when Sander Gommans took over, but as this is Mark Jansen at the helm with this album, it's not too much different than his usual style with Epica, really. But I like AF and Epica both equally, no matter who's leading them.
Yes Epica music in general is similar to the first 2 AF albums, though they are similar,a great difference I find is that AF was heavier and give more emphasis to the guitars, take for example this song...the guitars sounds more prominent than on Epica and the song is heavier than any Epica song,at least i dont know one that sounds like this in heaviness and guitars,oh and I also love both, the 2 are incredible awesome, but I prefer AF a bit more!
In fact this is part of a masterpiece called 'The Embrace that Smothers' by Mark Jansen, which he continued with Epica. No surprise it has the same sound to it!. ;)
