okay the way i understood it in the comics batman is "killed" (actually sent in a different time) by darkseid, when batman kills darkseid and gets zapped by the omega beams. In Bruce Wayne's absence, Dick Grayson takes up the mantle of the caped crusader and eventually, batman's real son takes up the mantle as well

@tharris8410 : It's a bit difficult than that. There was three Robins in Batman - Dick Grayson, lately Nightwing. Probably after that Jason Todd - killed by Joker and brought back by RasAlGhool (do know the spelling) and the jungest Robin is Tim Drake. But there was a lots of animated series and comix book, that they mix up and only good knows... :)

@CzechKitsune Frank Miller's stories "The Dark Knight Returns" "The Dark Knight Strikes Back" and "All Star Batman and Robin" take place in an alterate reality. The girl Robin in those stories is Carrie Kelly. She has yet to make an appearance in the mainstream DC Universe. Still, she has the distinction of bein the first female Robin in a DC publication, even though it's an alternate history setting.

@CzechKitsune It's a different girl, Dark Knight Returns is considered outside of continuity, Stephanie Brown was Spoiler, Tim Drake's girlfriend, a D class vigilante, but perhaps even more stubborn than Bruce. Tim trained her, and when Tim left, Bruce took her in to become Robin. Then Tim comes back, she "dies", gets better, retake the Spoiler cape, loses it and is noe the new Batgirl.

Two issues I have with this video. #1 Batman had only 1 rule, he would not kill. So for him to say, "The Joker needs to die" would not happen. It doesn't fit his character. #2 Dick Grayson became Nightwing and I believe later on when Bruce Wayne was missing he came back to Gotham to pose as Batman. So if Bruce Wayne died and Dick Grayson was to avenge his death, he would either take up the mantle of Batman or do it as Nightwing. Other than that good fanmade video.

In the current continuity, Bruce was killed by Darkseid during the events of Final Crisis. That is not, of course, the only story in which Bats is killed, but it is the canon one.

Somehow the beam Darkseid fired, sent Batman to the stoneage, but Darkseid held a rotted corpse of Batman (at the end of Final Crisis Bruce [minus his cape, mask, gloves, and shirt but add a beard] lays his utility belt next to a sleeping cave person, and scrawls several bat images on the wall of the batcave).

But Jason being crazy would allow Batman to go WAY back to the time when the original Batman in the 1940's carried a gun in his belt, and had no regard over killing a criminal in the line of duty. Plus, he's always been the darkest Robin... I agree, though, Tim (though I hate him so) could've become Nightwing, and allow Jason to remain Red Robin (as he was for a short time). Still... I don't think having a new Batman is such a great idea... too "dead of Captain America" for me XD

I downloaded the script. It is bloody awfull!

Crappy shallow DC superheros like Superman and Wonder Woman lowering the tone. And Batgirl beating up The Joker !*?# The Joker has a madman's strength an goes toe to toe with Batman. This is the guy who make Hannibal Lecter look like Mary Poppins!

It looks very well acted (the Guy who plays the Joker is better than any one in the 'official' movies) but the script sucks.

in the Grayson "film" if it can be called that, Dick re-donned his Robin costume. We don't know why maybe because that is the only way he can avenged his partners death sort of "poetic justice" or sentimental value

having read the script, the Grayson filmmakers were approaching the script as a darker epilogue to the 1966 Batman and Superfriends universe. Grayson never became Nightwing and instead went off on his own sans costume. Bruce is killed and Dick decides to re-don the suit and go to war with the Justice League. The ending of the script I've seen is amazing. The film, which will sadly never be made more than likely, had an awesome finish between Dick and Superman too. If you can find it, read it.
