thats greart!! really! the scale part was not to difficult.. but i cant quite get the shuffle down.. can u please show ur suffle technique plzzzzzzzzz???? and tell me where to go to learn it too.. plzzzzz
Hi Great Lick, I'm a novice learner and I'm now practicing the lick, HOWEVER what I really want to know is how to play that Shuffle - it sounds like a bit og a SLAP on the E A and B - PLEASE can you show the strumming in a new Vid, that would be fantastic.
Good stuff man I had to pull it out and put my shuffle in front and run your riff and back to shuffle and I'm getting it mind melded as it will draw folks on open mic' night in the bar with some lyrics thrown in, thanks for the quick scale builder!
The tab on the screen is a little off, you said not to play the open B string before the A# to A slide but I definitely see a 0 there indicating to play the open B.
If I'm not mistaking, The song *Shaking all over* from the Guess who, is a great exemple of that open E...Thanks for your videos..After of not playing (Due to a serious wrist injury) there's nothing like good ols basic blues to put you back on tracks.
@haywyre62 That's an interesting scale. I usually avoid the open E blues scale at the nut preferring to play it elsewhere. No valid reason, I somehow got the idea that it sounded odd so I preferred playing that scale further up the neck utilising a different formation. Your way makes it sound more interesting, you have a convert. Thank you.
@psychobobek Long fingers are useful but short 'n thick still does the trick! How about Django? He had only 2 fingers for soloing as his 3rd and 4th fingers were fused together in a caravan fire. He worked around it, using his fused fingers for chord formations that suited. I have short fingers and play like the devil.
Physical idiosyncrasies aren't an issue, we all work around what we have using our MIND. Our greatest hold backs are in our minds. Once we KNOW that fact, nothing can hinder us.
Yeah, it is a great guitar. I need to get it some work done on it. Somehow, I lost the locking nut during my move from Germany back to the USA. It just needs a good overhaul.
nice little lick....not to make bad comment but look at your tab on top....you show going back to the b then back to the a# then the slide....just a little laugh cause I woulda done the same thing.
I've not been playing the guitar very long, but this guy has really helped :) Already I've taken what I've learned and made something of it :) Good and easy to follow :) I'll be looking for more videos :) Thank you :)
I get what you mean, hes not hitting the snares right, he is hitting them one by one, but to get the powerful sound you need to hit more strings, also the rythem same thing, good vid though
Thanks for the lick - but you say don´t go back to the open B from the Bb but your tab shows going back ( note the 7th. and 8th marking show 3 then O). I guess it doesn´t matter much since you say it but you might want to change the tab.
I'm a self taught shredder but haven been wanting to get more into the blues. This has been very helpful , thank you. I believe the title of this is 'E Blues Scale Lick' not 'finger placement technique lessons', so to all the critics out there be grateful people are kind enough to help instead of running your cock holsters!
Blues, jazz, & metal players don't typically use the index finger on all the notes in a riff. Each finger has a fret to cover, and as the index figer moves up or down, the other fingers cover the next three frets up. In your example, you switch from the index finger for all notes at first to the middle finger for the same notes when playing the entire lick. Thanks for the good intentions, even if it's not the best tutorial around on fretboard technique. It may even confuse some newbies.

what is the meaning for "blue scale"?
TheWicked200 2 years ago
The blues scale is a minor pentatonic scale with an added flat-5 note. In the key of E, the flatted 5th note is Bb (3rd fret G, 1st fret A).
