  • if you want to do a REALLY good orbital that can last to up to like 40 seconds get swivles. they are very nice, and this way is good but you can also orbital while doing a 3 beat weave

  • You have made my day sir. I can't wait to practice!

  • 2 people have girlfriends

  • fk i dont get it..

  • hey, where do i get these glowstiucks?

  • @Chillirock1 if you want to go to a local store and get them, wal mart or target usually have them in the camping aisle. Personally, I order online from extremeglow

  • My strings get all tied up!

  • How can i perfection my split time?

  • awesome video! track id anyone?

  • ok every time i do orbitals they start wrapping up and spinning correctly but then all of a sudden they pretty much rip off each other any ideas what im doing wrong?

  • THANK YOU

  • Mine fails every single time. I'm gonna keep practicing getting the split time right. But damn I've hurt my arm so many times trying to do this lol. You make ti look easy

  • I NEEEVVVVEERRR knew about turning 90 degrees

    holy fucking shit THANK YOU

  • in the begining, is it normal for the strings to keep getting tangled? And i keep getting hit with the glow stick D: i dont wana give up tho.

  • Does the type of string matter? Do wide strings tangle? Compared to strings that are thin and more round?

  • @Jensenism Yeah the type of string does make a difference. I prefer standard flat laces like those used in athletic shoes because they allow the strings to wind and unwind a lot more. Round and oval laces don't wind up very much and wider laces definitely makes the windup more difficult.

  • @xcybrpunkx flat laces like also the ones in skater shoes right? just wanna make sure

  • @Jensenism The poi orbital vid that you commented on. if you use nylon string and some swivels you will have a longer and better orbital.

  • @Jensenism cole cords work great

  • I can do orbitals now but very crappy though. Another 2,000 times and I should have it down.

That thing you did at 2:14 is pretty hard to do.

  • How many time best estimate would you say you whacked yourself with a glowstick before you learned orbitals? I'd say ive whacked myself about 3 or 4 thousand times. Do you think I'm going to learn it soon?

  • lmao sorry i just had to say this is pretty funny:P

id hate to tell you you have to double that:P

  • I've whacked myself tons of times... everyone does at first. Burhan may be right though, you'll probably hit yourself lots more before you stop hitting yourself at all.

  • my only problem is the timing. how do you make the timeing right?

  • when u spin ur PissInPlastic, Cross strings so they get tangled and make L's. if you're spinning the way he was (both clockwise) then your "left hand poi" is going to be far right, furthest away from you. WAIT till that left hand poi spin's half a hemi sphere and is pointing directly 180degrees & is horizontal to the floor, @ that moment give even tugs with both hands shoulder length. Just DON'T pull earlier and make sure you tug JUST before left poi crosses the OUTSIDE of you're left hand.

  • nice tutorial what kind of string shud i use?

  • Shoestrings work best, the kind for boots and hiking boots. 76 inches. Then double them over.

  • thanks :D

  • @RyutoHigashi no, 45's wrapped once. why let it be so long? it's easier to do manipulations with shorter strings so you dont have to worry about them coming unwrapped from your hands.

  • @schlosser90

Well, the way I described it, is what works perfect for me. Everybody is different, what I said wasn't inaccurate, just a recommendation. Once you got the strings, length is up to your own discretion.

  • @RyutoHigashi true, i just find it easier for starting out, since when i did (and still do) if i have them wraped alot, they seem to be more to deal with. sorry had a frustrated moment. thinking about the 76's

  • split time doesn't have as much to do with it as you think.. you can do an orbital without prior poi rotation at all : )

  • you're right, but try teaching that to someone who has never done an orbital and can't get one down... walk before you run and all that...

  • argh! cyber! lol look at my post below! please help man im tripping the HELL OUT OMG. i can do a link catch orbital EASILY. but i want to do it as you are, like i said my glowsting being thrown into the one moving upwards in the middle ( split time) i have it down but like i said when it connects the glowstick going downards just gets tangled and no orbital is done

  • I would guess that your strings aren't parallel to one another that's why one always tangles. Try to keep them straight.

  • hmm, well now i can do the orbital, but it ends either prematurely or it ends really fast, once out of 5 times i can maybe get a perfect orbital where they spin really fast and it feels right, it stays for a good amount of time but its so hard to get that timing, do i have to wait until the string connecting to the string going upwards spins around a bit before pulling ? =/ ugh thanks in advance!

  • @xcybrpunkx haha u make it look so easy but its so hard.

  • oh yeah one more thing, when i try to connect them do i try to get the end of the string closest to the glowstick ? i feel like when i do it one string connects to far up no matter what i do, thanks in advance! kire

  • you're move at 2:14 is more impressive than the orbitals hahahah. thats what I need to learn.

  • HAHA THATs exactly what i said xP

  • ya, i can do that but i can get the damn orbital for some reason. lol. its really bothering me because i keep hitting my hand/knuckles with the glowsticks. idk how to fix it

  • I'm really glad I found this tutorial. This trick is awesome.

  • OMFG pissin me of u know how many times i hit myself doing dis?!?!?!

  • lmfao same bro! lol i noe how to do it but im trying to go from like a wrap to it.. and the "split time" is pision me off -.-

  • dude i know i just started stringing about a week ago ive been doing freehand for the past 2 years and ive hit myself so many times it makes me really want to just stick wth freehand lol

  • same bro. just keep going. it they're different thats for damn sure. but get good with stinging and then use stringing and freehand moves together. it kicks ass!

  • I gave up after my knuckle started bleeding. lol

  • Cool

  • hah nice

  • insane i now can start praticing the orbitals two different way which is very helpful knowing there is more than onr way to do the orbitals!!!!

  • i still can't do it

how long did it take u to learn it?

  • search how to do a hyperloop for poi and find menik's video. it helped me. using poito figure out glowstrining tricks helps alot for me atleast

  • some moves take a whole lot of practice and time. I don't remember exactly how long it took, but it definitely took weeks or longer before I could do them clean and not mess them up.

  • pretty cool vid continue with the video tutorial there a lot of help,

  • I just think you guys have such a similar voice

  • is this the guy from super high me?? doug benson?? if so he is nasty with the sticks cuz it takes talent to do some of that

  • Wow, I just saw the similarity. If it isn't he ironically has the exact same voice.

  • Yea he Has the exact same voice of doug benson, really kinda strange!!

  • I haven't seen super high me yet and I didn't know who doug benson was so I went to wiki and looked him up... perhaps the only similarity I can find is that we sound stoned

  • i learned from this guy but now i can do them so much better than him

  • Did it ever occur to you that he's teaching the orbital, not showcasing? ....moron

  • @bluesoda541 Best comment in the whole video :) i totally agree with you

  • it's never about who can do which move better... if that's the attitude you have about stringing I'd prefer if you never watch my videos again

  • For the second one -- the one where you do a thumb-split -- I have it all down until I try to throw them -- the glowsticks don't catch enough to spin. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I'm 100% sure I have the set up right up until I throw them too. My friend clarified that much.

  • I forgot to say also that if i don't throw them hard enough then nothing happens. but if i throw them too hard, they don't catch where they're supposed to where about the string meets the glowstick... =/ If i Throw it too hard then one stick gets stuck about halfway down the whole length of the other side of a string if that makes sense. For example my left glowstick wraps around the middle of my right string, leaving my right glowstick dangling alone.

  • sounds to me like you might just be throwing them in the wrong direction based on which way you're linking them... direction definitely matters and the result of throwing them the wrong way is usually one string wrapped up around the other with one stick kind of dangling there... otherwise its just down to timing and is a matter of practice

  • okay. Is there a such thing as pulling too hard when throwing for an orbital? Because I'm not sure if I pull too hard and the sticks release or if I pull too little and then don't spin?

  • ahh, I got it down now -- thanks =)

  • Sweeeeeeeeeet, thank you very much for the post. Also, what length glowsticks are you using and would you recommend LED glowsticks?

    -Thanks, again

  • 6" glowsticks work the best for glowstringing, in my opinion. I don't recommend any of the store bought LED glowsticks because they break when doing wraps but you can make them using cheap photon lights and a pair of used glowsticks. In the end, nothing beats chemical glowsticks.

  • i still cant get this

  • practice, practice, practice!

    done? practice some more!

  • Thank you SO much for making this tutorial.

  • glowstringing orbital tutorial, omgaaawd. thanks for making it =]

  • i like practicing poi! thats more fun than nailing the moves, i think.

  • Man this is a GREAT tut. Very detailed & the black background helps show the move better.

Just wondering what the song is that starts around 2:20 till the end, I had it but forgot the name/artist so its lost in my itunes :( Thanks

  • how long have you been glowsticking bro?

  • i can only do it for like 4 seconds =/

  • Just keep practicing and you'll be able to do them longer and longer. Practice is the only way to get better.

  • wow very helpful thx, but am i supposed to pull hard or lightly? or even at all?

  • shit i still cant do it :/

    its pretty difficult

  • just keep practicing, most moves take some time to get down... it might even weeks or months for some of the more advanced ones, the key is not to give up

  • wow great tutorial man . really helped probably first that goes into that detail =]

thanks man and love gsc .

  • Thanks.

  • how many inches for string to do an orbital?

  • the string length is not important. I can do orbitals using 27", 30", 36" and 45" laces. Once you get basic techniques down you should be able to switch between string lengths with only a little time needed to adjust to the difference. The same is true for pretty much every glowstringing move.

  • great vid. the one trick i uck the most at. i know acid trips already but not orbital wtf. haha

  • never heard of acid trips... at least, not in glowstringing...

  • an acid trip is where you have glowstrings but instead of only having one glowstick per string, you have a glowstick on each end of the string.(2 sticks per string) it allows for color changes. an acid trip is a color change that happens when you spin the string on one hand switching the colors and if you have two colors people don't really see the color change until it's already done. haha

  • That's just doing color switches with handles. The name acid trip would never be used at glowsticking(dot)com so it's really no wonder why I never heard of it.

  • Gave good assistance on split-time

  • dank i love it how you make fun of yourself when the thumbsplit got fucked lol but that helped with spinnin into them thanks bro *p.l.u.r.*

  • orbital tutorial! Good job!!! =D

  • wow neattt, definitely helps

  • thanks [=

  • can you do this with chains? (i normally just attatch glowsticks to my poi chains.)

  • I've never tried it with chains, but somehow I think there wouldn't be enough momentum

The poi move known as a super-duper-uberloop looks similar, but uses the motion of your hands and wrists to keep the poi spinning and does not have a fast wind up and release like the orbital does

  • your good.

  • yay with glowing sticks this time!

  • cool
