  • Its a great movie! My brains really got absolutely upside-down on my 1st seeng it - The British Movie Festival 1986 Moscow

  • Nice but, how you can forget "METROPOLIS"; one of the best 10 films (not only sci-fi) of all times.

  • hey ! it's lady gaga at 2.19 . It seems Gilliam's vision of the future is coming true piece by piece .

    :P

  • Brasil is very goooooood

  • Movie déco...

  • This film scarily illustrates the possibilities resulting from the NDAA being passed into law.

  • The title is just an allusion, but I wonder and I'd like to ask this question to the director of the movie. "Why Brazil?" I do not think to have a Brazilian song is not (or maybe not ) a reasonable explanation. Well, if it is the case a film needs a reasonable explanation to exist...

BTW, the name of the song is Watercolor of Brazil.

    Just wondering...curious a lot.

  • I got asked for my ticket 3 times while watching this movie on a train.

  • @cookiesbaba yes! ... and it's british film as well not american... I'm pretty sure they're joking

  • at 2:21 the lady is wearing a shoe on her head in support of Vermin Supreme!

  • this movie is a really great film, and i'm pretty sure it's inspired by the book 1984 by George Orwell.

  • this looks absolutely bonkers haha its gotta be pretty good to get a criterion release i guess

  • 52 people missed the "like" button and hit the "WTF" button instead.

  • @00litag00 are you joking?? Because what you just said doesn't make any sense

  • Next time, LET THE BRAZILIANS MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT THE BRAZIL, OK? I fucking hate those americans who think that know our country

  • @00litag00 HAHH you're joking, right? This movie has nothing to do with Brazil, its called that way because of an old song with the same name...This movie is not about that country.omg

  • @00litag00 não tem nada a ver com o Brasil país! calma cara, é só um título meio "aleatório"

  • HUEHUEHUEHUEHUE

  • Frankly, I got disappointed by this movie. It's not I didn't get it, it's just I was expecting a greater commitment with a satyrical portrait of a bureaucratic society, but I think they opted to deviate the plot to a more classical, individual hero action drama. The plot strays itself in it's own loopholes, and forgets the important: to make a real criticism of a grey, boring, monotonous, bureaucratic society. This film left me with the sensation that it was nothing I haven't seen before.

  • Fallout: The Movie

  • HOLY SHIT!!! Shit at 1:53 got real!

  • It's only a state of mind

  • @ Valentino. Thanks for the reply. Oh, yes...the them is a classic in Brazil, but I am still wondering the relationship between song (Watercolor of Brazil) and Title and film theme. Though...I love it!

  • Really brazil is a country in south America

  • This doesnt look like its for me.

  • M - A - S - T - E - R - P - I - E - C - E

  • oooo, so that's where the song for the Wall-e trailer came from XD

  • Just bought the laserdisc.

  • @thedarkone2134 laserdisc? They still sell those?

  • @zombiefan011 Nah, it's about 15 years old. Got it sealed off ebay for less then a DVD of it.

  • I am curious to know the reason about the title? anyone?...why Brazil?

  • @debireis It's just the main theme (the tune)

  • @debireis Well in the commentary terry says the idea for the film came from him thinking about a smog covered beach and a man there staring out to the ocean trying to look beyond the bleak landscape with a radio picking up songs like brazil.

  • @debireis and thats how the title came to be

  • What can I say about this film? Well... Just that it's the best movie I've seen.

  • I love this film, but I dont understand why people think its so "complex" or even "surreal", the storyline is pretty straight forward...it just happens to be set in Terry Gilliam's twisted vision of the future...and it surely doesnt need all this pretentious rambling to justify how good it is....

  • @zombielust1969 Its the exact storyline to the book 1984

  • Reminds me of a song called "Return i will to old Brazil"

  • One of the best sci-fi films EVER.

  • WHAT the FUCK is this?

i am brazilian, and i DO NOT agree this shit

  • @Kenixan2 then fuck off

  • @Kenixan2 I dont understand your point, it is called Brazil because of the song ...

  • just rewatching this on film4. i saw brazil 15yrs ago and loved it. i watch it now and it looks like the near future. good bit at start - poster on the wall "suspicion breeds confidence".

  • Peliculón!

  • A bizarre film, and i like bizarre... cheers people

  • una obra de arte, mejor que metropolis

  • I want to hear this version of the Brazil song

  • I so want to see this and Citizen Kane before I were to die. I need to see it

  • @pablolara125 Its on youtube

  • so is this like 1984?

  • @Dontmakemecomeover5 yes, but its 1985. lol

  • @Dontmakemecomeover5 It's 1984 and a half, at least that was the working title when gilliam was writing it.

  • it's only a state of mind

  • this movie looks trippy as fuck

  • @shadowskout You should watch natural born killers.....If you're looking for trippy.

  • at 1:50 somebody presses the WTF button

  • Every time I have seen this movie, there is the intense feeling of being confined and totally unable to escape. Very well done, amazing movie. Great comdedic bits as well as great absurdity.

  • Superficial boobs @ 1:21.

  • does anybody know the name of the song that plays in the first half of the trailer

  • @95Godfather The name of the song is "Brazil"

  • oh god, this movie is a totally spam

  • Gilliam was Tim Burton before there was Tim Burton!

  • This whole film is like one bad Acid trip... I love it xD <3

  • @TallDarkAndDashing this TRAILER is a acid trip. if i can't handle it, can i handle the movie?

  • @linuslillen01 no way jose ;)

  • Terry Gilliam = Directing God.

  • It's a brilliant and challenging film. Like other films that require you to pay attention and engage your brain (Blade Runner and Citizen Kane for example) it is not everyone's cup of tea, but I personally love it.

  • @johnthekeys oh yes, it's so fucking challenging to watch a slapstick love story for 2 hours with many wasted sets, Brazil is a truly awful film, and it's fans are complete idiots for thinking this wanna-be 1984 drivel is any good

  • @TheCandyHole please get the stick out of your ass

  • To: TheCandyHole

So you don't Get It. That's fine, we understand. It's definitely too complex and subtle for a lot of people.

    Have a Nice Day.

  • @IAmTDurden lol.'complex', yeah ok

  • @johnthekeys I loved Brazil, but I could not appreciate Bladerunner for some reason. :/

  • Also, anyone else actually want that gift he got for xmas from his mother? (That little doohicky with the plunger that lands on either 'YES' or 'NO'?)

  • @papoj1PVR

Yeah, it's great, laughed my ass off when I saw it the first time. It just speaks to the arbitrariness of nightmare bureaucracies.

I *think* it actually ALWAYS falls on "no", but I haven't gone back to carefully watch it to verify.

Welcome to the comforts of ObamaCare, ca. 2030.

  • ...more salt?

  • seria legal achar esse video..

    mas é quase impossível achar legendado/dublado =S

  • WOW! Military Regime!

  • It's certainly dark comedy, and it's quite surreal. I grant it's not for everyone, but to anyone who thinks "it sucks", well, I will only state that you're attempting to approach it like it was a photograph and not a painting. Not everything therein is "real" or intended to be. It is attempting to bring out the horror of extremes an industrial, ultrabureaucratic society is capable of, as a cautionary tale. It is a dark-comic version of "1984", and it does that very, very well.

  • @IAmTDurden yeah, my first impression after this trailer was 1984

  • WHAT THE HELL ? THEY DESTROYED MY COUNTRY ?? .____.

  • I MISSE THAT SOUD EFFEC THE THAT EXSPROSION

  • @BoyMixer

I don't say that i don't like the film, the characters are good, and it looks so aesome, but the problem is that i didn,t understood the plot. Well i will watch it one more time

  • (continued)

Not everything you see is either the truth of what is happening or even a close approximate of it, it's him either fantasizing about being somewhere else or doing something heroic to escape, or being involved in something heroic to end the madness.

  • (continued)

Realize that Gilliam is basically doing 1984 in most ways, but there are elements of fantasy and dream because the central character is so unable to force-fit himself into the rigid senseless confines of his mileau, so he seeks some form of escape from the insanity that surrounds him.

  • @MegaGoodoldtimes

There is a strongly surrealistic element to it, yes, and that means if you try and make everything fit rationally then you will have issues. You will find this in most Gilliam works, BTW, so if you cannot find yourself liking this one, possibly his best, you probably won't enjoy anything of his.

  • One of the more beautiful, subtle jokes of this, for example, is the device they hand him when he gets promoted, the "decisionmaker", highlighting the extreme arbitrariness of the place in which they all live. At the point you first see that, if you really, really Get It, you understand the horror of this place, and you should start laughing hard at it.

  • this was just so boring. Zzzz...

  • Wow. This trailer makes me wish I watched the whole thing in black and white.

  • What is the name of this song?

  • @sirhobnob1 the name is"aquarela do brasil" that is in english" watercolour of brazil", althout strange for you it has got a great meaning for us.

  • @sirhobnob1 In Portuguese is "Aquarela do Brasil". In English is "Brazil" :)

  • mordekaiser es # 1 in brazil

  • Great trailer for a classic!!!!

  • This must be the best movie trailer of all time!

  • how is call this song?

  • Epic !

  • well honestly its crap !!! i hated it boring bad acting .... !! overrated...

  • @BACONSANDWICH98 you wish fool

  • @ricardodegilmonde derp...Go watch Transformers you fat f*ck

  • i paused the movie at 1:28 and thought, this movie looks fun. downloaded it, watched it. well... i should have seen the whole trailer^^ good movie, just didn't expect THAT

  • One of my favorites. Why can't we all fall in love forever?

  • if i hadnt of read the info for this movie on google i wouldnt understand whats going on. lol. this looks like some crazy 80's movie that only ppl on acid would understand. lol.

  • @vidaa82

I don't think you have to be on acid -- and, frankly, I don't think I'd WANT to be on acid for a dark movie of any kind, even a dark comedy -- but it does fit the surrealism of it.

See my series of comments above regarding the nature of the movie, and why it is *right* that it be surreal...

  • MAN, I love this movie.

  • holy shit that looked awesome and crazy

  • The American dream = The Global nightmare. 4% of the world's population consume 40% of the world's resources. How long can that last? We have lost the world order and we only greed after the impossible and worthless. What will happen when China, 40% of the world's population, desire 4% of the world's wealth? The END.

  • Not all of the lions and tigers are in the zoo or the jungle. Most of them are dead.

  • The Soundtrack is Amazing!

  • It's almost exactly like the book 1984 by George Orwell

  • @threelectrorecords No... This movie is very different. Has some elements from the book... but is something completely different.

  • @MegaGoodoldtimes Perhaps you should stick to "Meet the Spartans" then

  • Brazil? Shouldn't it be titled, 'America'?

  • One of the best films ever made...all while only using one song in the film's score.

  • This was one of the weirdest films I've ever seen... But by far one of the best

  • Further proof that Jonathan Pryce is one of the most underrated actors of all time.

  • I have seen that movie. This was totally fucked up.

    I warned you.

  • How 'bout a little necrophilia?

  • Always....ALWAYS make sure that Socialist union workers present a 27B-6 form for you to verify!

  • Reading 1984 and reminding myself of this movie, I'm amazed on how much direct inspiration the book had on the movie

  • i watched it last night to wanderfull movie eraserhead has a similar theme but this one was better executed.

  • Why's is it called Brazil??

  • @zombiefan011

Possibly the fact everyone's humming the song throughout the film and how the lyrics are ironic towards the film.

  • Worth watching?

  • @mwps99 Definitely.

  • @mwps99

    Very.

  • @mwps99

I watched it last night, hehe. That's why I'm commenting on the video today!

  • @papoj1PVR Haha yeah its a great movie!

  • It looks cool.

  • what is the background songs for this trailer

  • @bennythelazy2

    Is that a trick question?

    Spoiler: Brazil

  • Agent Orange, being sprayed in the Amazon, is one of the most devastating weapons of modern warfare. Ranchers in Brazil have begun spraying the highly toxic herbicide over patches of forest as a covert method to illegally clear foliag. In recent weeks, an aerial survey detected some 440 acres of rainforest that had been sprayed with the compound -- poisoning thousands of trees and an untold number of animals, potentially for generations. • @gmindock

That's not a comment about the movie...no offense.

  • "I've dreaming about you, I mean.. Iove you. In my dreams, I love you"

  • Shit it did. We are being watched people. I cant even call people cu*nts without being censored. A salutary tale indeed Tuttle.

  • Did my comment about those disliking this being c**ts get rejected?

  • holy shit!! xD i think my brain just burst

  • @CalciumCD The ending is not sad. He really escaped.

  • @DeepEye1994

Depends on your interpretation I suppose

  • @CalciumCD Well, I watched the "happy ending" made by the pussies of the Universal Pictures and it doesn't changed nothing for me. It's just the same ending but from Sam's point of view.

  • @DeepEye1994 nope he didn't escape he went nuts there's no way to call that an escape just after that he gets killed thats how the system works and will continue to work

  • @sykes7111 He's trapped in his own dreams. Who cares if the system continue to work. He don't care of the system. The system leave him alone THINKING that he's nuts, but he actually is in a better place. You know what happend in the end of the book 1984? Is worse of the movie ending: they make him a tratment to become a zombie brain to love "the big brother". Now that's sad.

  • terry gilliam as in the monty python guy? i might have that wrong i just want to make sure

  • @ohlookitspudding

The same one; also one of the actors for the film is Michael Palin and i'm gonna presume a daughter (Holly Gilliam)

  • @papoj1PVR wow i didnt expect them to do anything like this

  • @ohlookitspudding

    Same here.

  • one of the best movie of all time...

My second favourite, next to Artificial Inttelegence

  • @BinaryDood Thats movie would be better if Satnley Kubrick were alive when decided to film it

  • @CAarLiTToXX

I like the way it was... perhaps Kubrick could make a few things better and that's just it

  • @CAarLiTToXX Ummmmm Stanley Kubrick died in 1999 and this film came out in 1985, so he was indeed alive when it was made...

  • @zombielust1969 I was talking about other movie, i now tha kubrick died in 1999 :)

  • Awesome. Film
