School pride can be good to help boost comradery, and what-not but this school takes it beyond that to the point where school pride is more important than grades. Most of the perps in these riots and demonstrations are 18-20 y/o's who's "devotion" to their football coach is about ankle deep and based on marketing of Paterno as an icon - they couldn't tell his legacy from a Subaru Legacy. It's like a hair on an elephant's ass in relation to the scope of the whole ordeal. Although I would disagree that he did all he could. If I had reported something and then nothing came of it I would have reported it to law enforcement authorities personally. Everyone knows Sandusky is the enemy; I don't even see how that's an argument. My point is that the riots aren't helping. Sure, they may well be for Paterno and a way to express anguish at the unimaginably sad end to the best coaching career in college football history. That said, from an outside perspective, this is making it worse.
