i do not think that you shld equate fanaticism of people following a religion and the tenets of the religion itself. That way every belief system can be demonized very easily, including atheism.
That said, I think that muslims should actively engage in recognizing fanatics and discuss what things are against islam, which are being done by muslims on a large scale.
