Honestly, right?... please we all know that the problem with the world today is a lack of humility and a full understanding of origin! Yes one blood there was a start.
lets not speak of country lets speak of start> we are all here waiting, .... for the inevitable..gotta ask somebody ask Tony rebel! Jah is standing by my side, and all the rest. Keep on shining and give respect where its due. I see your club and you see mine to.
What some of yall British dudes don't get is that yalls rappers aren't believable to us just like Canadian, Australian, french, Chinese etc.Every country has hoods, but yall are imitating how we reflect our hoods, swag and culture instead of how UK originally reflected it's hoods before hip hop was around. Yall aren't in the same situation as us, but yall act like you are so it comes off as a caricature. Also it seems yall expect us to give your rap scene more attention than any other foreign one.
@Drknoble Every country is going to try and spread their music in term of genre and traditions. There are hoods everywhere, are you trying to say america invented the hood or something? And you talk about artists in other countries not being believable but you guys are so far up Drakes ass it's unbelievable. And drake talks about repping his town and the hood, but he was on Tv "Degrassi" and went to a good high school. Before you sit there and play "We have invented the hood", think.
@Enzieify Like I said every country has hoods, what I am saying is that yall are looking to the US and imitating the US version of the "hood" or "ghetto" experience, instead of the original UK experience that existed before hip hop was born. For example I heard a british dude say "blood", when the crips & the bloods have nothing to do with the UK or any other country. When we see stuff like that it comes off as fake. Drake is not rapping about the hood or gang life. Drake is real with himself.
@Drknoble What you heard was "blud" not blood. It's English slang for mate or you guys in the US say "Homie". We're looking to the US because that's were all the money is. Everyone wants to hit the big time and the only way to do that Is through the US and that's not what you Americans understand. Even the best artist in the UK will get less views that an underground new coming american rapper. Understand that we're america's hood. Trying to find a way out of it, into the american way of life.
@Enzieify No matter how you spell it, he said "blood". Yall picked that up from the crips and bloods wars through either hip hop, movies or documentaries. We don't throw "blood" around like that because you could end in a bad situation false flagging. I understand why yall look to the US, but I'm trying to tell you it doesn't look believable to us when yall imitate our situation even though it doesn't exist in your country. The same goes for artist from other countries that caricature US rap
@Drknoble Dude. The word Blood did not derive from the american culture. We use it and spell it differently, It's used in a COMPLETELY different context. And It does happen In england, come to England and go to peckham, they will SHOW you the hood. England isn't tea and crumpets and croquet. Everywhere theres a hood, come on dude.
@Enzieify Of course the word "blood" didn't derive from America, it's an english word. The slang term for "blood" came from American culture just like "hood", and the context is the same. Like I said before- everywhere has hoods but yall don't have the same situation as us so it looks fake. From what I looked up the UK is 90% white and the 2% black population are immigrants that came in the 1960s. So what gang culture is in the UK? And why do yall want to imitate problems that plague the US?
@Drknoble Wait, did you just said 2 percent black and 100 whites? where did you get those percentages from? If anything that should mean there is more hoods in London. You Americans think you invented everything, but everything you own is foreign. This who has the better hood argument is so stupid, I'm not even arguing the fact that america is bigger so of course they would have more hoods. But Englands in exactly the same position. Please may you explain what a hood is to me?
@Enzieify Where did you get 100 from? 90% white & 2% black immigrants is what i found. Are you trying to say that's not true? I said UK not London. It seems like you think it's fashionable to have hoods. Yall are not in the same situation as us. The US has had to deal with over 400 years of slavery, lynchings, segregation, civil rights movement, Italian mafia, Jewish mob, Irish mob, black & latino gangs. Yall don't have our problems, so it looks fake when yall try to act like you do.
@Drknoble Trust the Americans to think they're the center attention 24/7. Of course you guys would argue about who has the better hood. By the way, you didn't explain to me what a hood was, because I'm clearly not understanding.
@Enzieify You're the only one talking about the US is the center not me. I'm just telling you why we don't take yalls rap scene serious, it looks fake. You even had the nerve to say yall in the same position as us. So anywhere there's black people, they're in the same position as us? "Hood" is the african american term for ghetto or poor neighborhood which apparently you British have picked up from rap. You haven't answered my question, isn't British population 90% white & 2% black immigrants?
Truth. I'm always saying this. We live in a globalised world, so yes, certain cultural phenomenon will cross over, back and forth, but that doesn't mean we need to beg everything we see on TV. Doing that makes us Not-quite-as-good clones. Instead, we need to be open to aspects of their culture whilst celebrating the melting-pot culture we've got right here.
