I love how the Hornets couldn't possibly stay and then as soon as they leave N.C. the fucking Bobcats are there. WTF! So why the hell did the Hornets have to leave?
@dusttaker this game shows the diffrence between him and anyone whoever played...this is total domination...and why isnt jordans dunk at the end with some of his other gretest highlights...now that you kobe dummies have seen how he has flopped in the playoffs and it isnt the first time...can you shut the fuck up...and bow down?
and to scottie pippen...WTF are you smoking...thats some good shit!...lebron the greatest player?...nicca please!
not to get all mushy here...but there is simply no better place on the internet for concise, smooth recaps of MJ's career. I own EVERY DVD ever released on MJ and it's just an amazing sham that they play the same clips OVER AND OVER. Watching just 5 of any random Hoops vids and you will find at least 4 highlights you've never seen. You will ask yourself: "why haven't i seen this before"
What i wouldn't do, HOOPS, if you had this for Magic and Bird as well. :)
@stematwork I own them all to and you couldn't be more right. If the NBA was smart and wanted to make even more money they should make a season DVD like TV shows. Can you imagine if they release the Bulls season especially in MJ's youth? That I would pay for because I haven't been able to watch the NBA in over 10 years because the play is so horrible. A bad team in the 80's would destroy the NBA today with it's ability to actually make a 16 foot jump shot.
@hoopsencyclopedia, frequently I make an effort to remember how it was like well before I can easily dunk the ball. Subsequently after I made use of the training program at "50-inch-vertical[dot]com" - my skills has been improving quickly I'm not a bench player anymore!
This game shows the difference between him and LeBron. See how many times he operates in the post and sets up teammates or takes his fadeaway and this is 1990!! LeBron for whatever reason will not go in the post where due to his size should have great success there. This game really shows that he is not only the greatest to ever play the game but also the most fundamentally sound. His fundamentals in the post in only his 6th season in the league is remarkable.
I don't care how many times I've seen it, Bill Cartwright's jumpshot is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen. It's almost jaw dropping and awe inspiring in a negative way. Even Joakim Noah's looks a little nicer.
On a side note, that Jordan guy was pretty good hahahaha
Hoopsencyclopedia once again drops Jordan gems on us like rain... Check out the way MJ resisted the urge to be selfish and included his much less talented teammates in the game at every turn. Look at the sudden explosiveness he could unleash at any given moment, in stark contrast to his measured and lethal perimeter shooting game...The only reason he didn't wear a cape on the court is because James Brown would have probably sued for copyright infringement!
Its funny to watch Rex Chapman " HS all-American Slam dunk Champ" try to guard Jordan. Chapman was scared. Look at how slow and tentative he was. Then the boy get used by Jordan watch from 7:45 - 7:51 Ha! Ha! Ha!
Look at how many subtle jukes and stutters he makes as he comes off the screen at 8:34-8:37. Insane quickness and smoothness - it just looks like he's moonwalking out there. This game is up on another channel and they show this play in a replay from behind iirc and it's even more amazing. You can't really see all his jukes/footwork here. 1990 and '91 Jordan was Jordan at his most individually dominant imo. He could have averaged 36 ppg/52+% FG/60+% TS or 31/8/9/52% if he played like Lebron.
The thing I love most about this game is his full court vision on display and ability to find the open man before that man even KNOWS he's open. People who haven't watched MJ from the beginning just assume he didn't pass which is far from the truth. You don't play 3 years under Dean Smith and then just turn that part of your game off. He has always been an incredible passer and this game showcases that more than the usual amazing highlights we expect from the GOAT.
yea i laugh so hard when i see people saying ' rose has the passing of kidd, and the stamina of jordan' haha.
first off rose's stamina is not even close to jordan in his prime from 84-93 ( from the way mj always had crazy energy to play both ends in hyper involving fashion) and that statement also underestimate how good jordan was as a passer, and that court vision had been there since day 1!! just like his mid range and defensive tenacity.
45 points on 19-28 shooting (68%)....that shooting percantage is the difference between Jordan and the top scorers today. Most shoot well under 50% and get a majority or points at the line. This is even with the benefit of the new hand checking rules in early 2000's. Put many of the top scorers today under the old rules which allowed much more physical defense, and they wouldn't be top scorers.. period.
@shocker315 Υeah...I agree with u...plus u forgot to mention that bigs were allowed to camp under the basket so, if u wanted to take it to the basket u had to go real hard!
@shocker315 That's definitely true, especially Kobe who is a career 45 percent shooter. With those rules changes, Kobe gobbled up points against mostly BAD teams (except the 62-point game vs. the Mavs and a game vs. the Suns) and cost his team valuable possessions because of all his misses. Jordan minus his Wizards seasons, was a 51 percent shooter in his Bulls' career, unbelievable for a guard that scores that much.
that's right. and that also means that he is playing with the flow instead of ballhogging like stupid kobe fans would refer. several reasons for his high % shooting: 1) great shot selection( meaning forcing shots like kobe) 2) ability to get by defending with or without the ball to get clean looks and easier shots 3) purely a better shooter with better shooter touch.
Lot of classic stuff here with the Caray-Barry commentary, the ball fake on Mugsy, the dunk at the end, and most importantly...Armon Gilliam's GUMBY!!!!
God damn! Jordan's silky smooth...Prettiest mid-range jumpshot in NBA history, along with being in it's top 3 defender's, best scorer, best athlete and best team leader...GOOOOOAAAAATTTT!!
I wish I was around to watch the NBA in the 90's there's something about it, I'll just forever have to reminisce off my old NBA VHS Cassettes i bought when i got into NBA at 3 years old
No offense bro but can we see the WHOLE game in parts and show MJ doing other things besides scoring?? I mean after all he was a COMPLETE guard which is REALLY what made him so great!
@americanbandwidth I live in NY/LI and I LOVED that team in 1990! I would go 41x just see Armon Gilliam do his thing inside with the Bobby Brown "Every Little Step I Take" Gumby hairdo! Gilliam was a beast as a Hornet. He basically avg 20/10 in his time in Charlotte which was soooo underrated. Phoe was moronic trading him for dopey Rambis as Gilliam was one of the best low post guys in the league.
@americanbandwidth That's why the NBA owns the team now... The league did make a mistake by allowing Shinn to move to NO but that also contributed to the birth of the OKC Thunder. Either way, George Shinn was the cancer that the NBA and Charlotte needed to get rid of.
Give MJ a chance to build something great. Gonna take awhile by the way they are going but they are going to get there.
And, you are totally right about everything you said. Those games were awesome back in the day.
@americanbandwidth I live in NC as well. George Shinn killed that franchise. I don't think MJ is going to be able to do much with the Bobcats. They'll end up folding or moving.
@americanbandwidth Well I can tell you the nba has been doing the same thing to us here in Sacramento for years as well, and it looks like Sac still just might be assed out. We'll see wut happens, but I'm done just like you.
Great video! Who do you think would win in a game of one-on-one, Jordan or Rose? When my friend asked me this, I almost pegged the basketball at him. Jordan would make Rose (who I love) look silly!
As always, amazing. Its also interesting to the commentators perspective of MJ at this perticular point in his carreer. Back then it was standing Room Only for every Game, the Nose bleed seats were $7.
I must have gone to 200 Charlotte Hornets games, I have Never been to a Bobcat game and NEVER will.
The NBA had a gold mine here with the Hornets and their arrogant asses ruined it, That to me is as a Divorce from the NBA.
