Poor Friedman and his Banana Republic sweater barely stained by pie. So much worse than the blood-drenched thousands in Iraq that Friedman told to "Suck On This"
Basic first amendment principles: Free speech + more free speech ≠ censorship.
Throwing a pie at someone may legally qualify as assault, but it is in no way censorship. The students have not removed Mr. Friedman's ability to express himself. He's still a NYT columnist, is he not? The students did nothing but add their expression to the mix.
He was not attacked in order to deprive him of his First Amendment right, but for the consequences of his views. Its all about the consequences people. He needs to be held accountable and a pie in the face is nothing compared to what he truly deserves.
Oh, waaah. It's a college prank. The talk wasn't an open debate, so don't act as if these students were unable to comprehend the brilliance of Friedman and could only respond with pastry. It was an invited talk, and a significant % of the student body was against it. Childish? Sure. But save the sanctimony for your Young Republicans meeting.
And BTW, Thomas Friedman is an unbearable hack. Just tossing that out there (like a pie).
This is one of the few times I've approved of what is legally an assault. He deserved far worse than that for all his lies and distortions.Lucky for him he wasn't born in President Andrew Jackson's time.
That was completely uncalled for. disagreeing with the man is one thing, attacking him is another. This displays a lack of utter disrespect. I hope the board considers exppulsion.
So much education and yet still so much anger. Perhaps you should get back to grading your students papers instead of trolling the Tube, grammer police!
Another Nazi student attack. Great tatics you fasist bastards. You don't agree with someones first amendment right to free speech so you attack them? Your lucky he didn't slip on the stuff and crack his head open or break his neck. Think about that the next time you attack someone. This guy has interviewed people from all of the world, even people that are hostile to the USA, and he gets attacked here? Grow up kiddies.
what idiots. "Yeah, we don't agree with this guy on some things. So let's throw pies at him. that will change his mind." durrr

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Typical of the left. Without any powers of reason or even basic maturity they resort to throwing pies. No wonder your party can't get anywhere.

Um, if you're "displaying a lack of utter disrespect", wouldn't that mean you're respecting that person?
I think you should display a lack of utter disrespect to the English language, sir.

No dumbass, Utter means to "express."
Go back to 9th grade english.

You have no comprehension of what in the living jumpin' jehosephat's fuck you're talking about.
I actually hold a BA in English as well as teach it in high school. Now who's the dumbass by acting superior when they're WRONG?
You used a double negative, ass-spelunker. As a demonstration, I'll up the ante and use a triple negative:
"I'm displaying MY lack of lacking in utter disrespect by inviting you to slurp my sweaty beanbag raw."
P.S. In the context, "utter" means "complete", fuckstool.
