  • I am not much on snow and cold so I wouldn't do to good there.

  • this is my uncle i think same last names

  • I've read about how in the death zone you have to take a dozen breaths after each step. But this video actually shows that.

Personally, I think Mallory made it to the top, and Irvine waited for him to come back down in vain.

  • @trapper439 I don't agree with you, man : there are only 3 possibilities if George Mallory's body has been correctly checked : 1-neither George nor Sandy have summitted ; 2-they both have summitted, which I believe ; 3-Sandy Irvine has summitted alone. All that because if George had gone alone to the top, HE WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE CAM WITH HIM. Sorry for my poor english, I'm french.

  • I don't think anyone will ever find Irvine. The discovery of mallorys body only confuses u more. Irvine may have turned back and fallen later or may have fallen first and the mallory fell descending who knows the camera that was on him may give us insight into how far they got if it's still able to be developed after nearly ninety years in the snow.

  • Goodness that gradient looks steeper than 45 degrees. And these men are wearing thick clothing and have heavy loads on their backs!! Amazingly fit.

  • Take a look at nastycop420's videos. You seriously need this guy, you could get a high resolution survey done very quickly.

  • How many bodies have been recovered, and how many still reside on the mountain?

  • you think the locals lived in the shadow of that mountain for generations and didn't climb it before the " adventurers " turned up ?..

  • The chance of finding that body is probably something like 2 %

its a interesting story though i hope when they do find that body, they treat it with more respect then they did with his mate!

  • @tomkorff they did show george mallory respect i mean they i didnt ev en rummige through his body i bet he was laying on top of his camera or mabey he has his camera in his coat i didnt see them even check

  • Youre videos are amazing guys!!!How much for me to join you on a climb?Yeah right i know.I had to ask

  • how warm and cold does it get on everest at this altitude?

  • The Standing Around for Andrew Irvine

  • Did you find anything interesting

  • What a terrible place to die. Can't help thinking about poor David Sharp, Fran Arsentiev, Rob Hall etc. when I watch something like this.

  • @zoooooooooog , what a great place to die,,,

  • thats the original route up everest

  • Excellent video, Jake. Thanks for posting it.

  • messener was the first person to summit with no o2 and from both sides again

  • And you are one to talk, your life is so bad and sad you have to attack people on Youtube. And you have no idea what you are talking about. Good Luck with life.

  • I think George arrived to the top, because he is the bets mountaineer of the history.

  • Messner is the greatest of them all.

  • Hey you idiot!

You speak of one of the greatest alpinists ever! So think first before you say something stupid!

Maybe he made mistakes, maybe not! No one around here is able to judge him. So shut the f... up!!!

  • I only think that Mallory is the best.

  • Messner is awesome, so is Kukuzcka and lafaille and herzog, and you know who else is awesome viesturs, even if viesturs usually did things the "typical way" hey guess what, messner's brother died, lafaille died on makalu in the winter, kukuzcka died on lhoste south face, herzog has no fingers or toes, viesturs is alive and well and never had hape or hace or had to be rescued... there are lots of awesome climbers and they are all awesome for their own reasons

  • @RhazesDarkk

sir i don't know if you ever climbed a mnt or know any one who did

    but for info

look at some of the clothes mallory had on and he waslast seen at 800 ft

the words ,," shut the fuck up has no meaning here

you sir dishonor these men by using that word on fhis sight

did mallory nake in my mind yes he and irvine did make it

who was the 1st to do it of course hillary and tenzibg where the 1st to do it

in my mind hillary/ malory did it the same day hr min togeather,, rio

  • Dave Hahn from Taos?

  • Yup, Dave Hahn from Taos!

  • Thanks, I used to work woth him in Taos in 1997. Good guy.

  • No problem...definitely a great guy. I've known Dave for years, worked with him on Rainier for 6 seasons, and have gone to Everest with him on 4 of my 5 expeditions as well as South Georgia Island. Great guy, a good friend, and fun to climb with!

  • @jrndai what whould happen in a helocopter whould fly to mount everest? i mean is there any way to get to the top without going up?

  • @egdqv13234 yes the eurocopter made it to the top it's on here have a look but thats cheating getting a copter an not climbing

  • @egdqv13234 helecopters can only fly to base camp

  • @vegintino

Didn't they take a helecopter higher to evac Beck Weathers?

  • wot kind of a nerd r u?

  • wot kinda knob r u ??

  • No definitive evidence to suggest one way or the other, but id like to think that they were the first as its such a fantastic story of courage.RIP george and Andrew.

  • You're right - no evidence to prove they did reach the top, and likewise (and often forgotten or brushed aside), no evidence whatsoever to prove the did not reach the top. A quintessential mystery, I guess. I, too, like to believe they reached the top in 1924 - wouldn't take anything away from Sir Edmund Hillary & Tenzing Norgay, as they made the first round trip, which is an important component to success - and would be amazing to have them there in '24 in wool, tweed, and hobnails.

  • Getting up and getting down is the ONLY component to success. Whatever the question of Mallory and Irving summitting the rock it's a moot point as they never made it back to tell the tale.

  • Any luck finding the camera?

  • @jrndai

I'd like to think Mallory and Irvine made it as well. I just read something interesting about their clothing and basic gear, apparently it wasn't so primitive after all. Check 'innovation-for-extremes.' and look for malloryMyths, if you haven't already. Just for shits and giggles I'm having a pair Dunham Waffle Stompers decked out with TRICOUNI climbing nails to get a taste of the past.
