I making a lego tumbler aswell with steering but when i push the tumbler along the two front wheels turn inwards. can you tell me how i can stop that from happening.
@MrSubscribe10000 Yeah I had that problem, it's because there is give in the system. Basically I set it up so the wheels were actually pointing out at rest, so that when you push it forwards they pull in and end up pointing straight! Bit of a hash, but with all those cogs and connections it's impossible to make it any firmer. Hope that helps!
Thanks all for your comments, can't quite believe people are still finding this a year and a half on! And yes, I did finish it, the other video is on my channel so check out the finished project and let me know what you think. I'm still planning on rebuilding it completely one day, making it lighter and improving the steering. Maybe one day...
very nice stuff you totally changed my idea on steering yours is much easier. Really cool maybe I start building a 1/2 or 1/5 scale r/c nitro tumbler but have tu check with a friend if he helps I'll do it for sure. and as others say finish this work it looks fantastic.
Excelent job!!! I tried to make a version of the Tumbler myself... but it doesn't compare with your work! keep going on!! have you compared with the Official Lego Tumber version?
Thats Fantastic! Hint .. the chassis now works, now, reinforce or double the suspension to compensate for the heavy body. Don,t build bod first!! I learned the hard way and had to do a near complete teardown of my 66 to make it work right.
I'm using a custom axle on each wheel, attached to a rack and pinion setup on each arm, which is then linked via various cogs and stuff to the steering wheel at the back. Sorry I can't explain more fully than that, it's hard to describe!! And it's so tightly packed that I couldn't get a good picture of the mechanism either...

Nice work. I've been working on a faithfull reproduction of the AWD vehicle from the Halo series ''The Warthog".
I've been stuck on the 4W steering/suspension layout. The warthog chassis is basically an elongated X.
Your transverse rack and pinion system will do the job nicely. I'll reference you when I upload. Cheers!
